  1. Just thinking about it - Janmaat has adapted to the demand of the league far quicker. He's equally paced, if not 1/2 a step or so better. He's better positioned and less prone to getting caught out. His work rate is quite brilliant, he's tracked some runs down centrally and made some great tacklers. Debuchy is probably better in the air. Debuchy probably is a better slide tackler, Janmaat seems better reading of the game. Janmaat looks better at intercepting and breaking. I'd say he's a better dribbler, better crosser, and more intelligent attacker.
  2. Wrong thread for this - but we desperately need a match where a shit team or 2 falls down to 10 men and we get a Stoke (h) performance where we turn them over by 2-3 goals. Our goal differential is classically awful.
  3. I was thinking about Ben Arfa this morning after reading those Bruce comments... Damn shame thinking about the player we signed on loan - From that Everton performance, to the leg break against City, the returns, the injury breakdowns, the returns, the fall-outs with Pardew, the goals, the individual brilliance, the way he talked about the Newcastle supporters, St James Park, life in the NE, and all that. Have we ever taken to a player since Sir Bobby's time and Keegan's before that that? He represented so much that we loved and maybe embodied as a club. In a way he sort of personified what we thought of our club Sleeping Giant Club = Untapped Potential of a Player; Could be one of the Greatest Clubs (vision of Bobby & Keegan) = Hatem being considered the best of his Generation. It all just bothers me. Blame the man himself, blame Pardew, etc. I just wish he'd sort himself out, i wish he'd get a move to Germany or France and play for a manger who cares about him; one that will let him do his thing - it's a shame that such a talent that I'll be talking about for the rest of my life wasted the prime of his career through bad luck, injuries, lack of self discipline, and poor management. It's a story repeated over and over in sport, but it hits closer to home b/c he was OUR player, and we we madly love him, and he mutually did for us.

    Papiss Cissé

"I'm happy" I know i make fun of him for sometimes being so infuriating with his offsides, and his inability to do simple footballing things - but then this crazy bastard scores, and he smiles his face off, and he runs over to a little bairn on the side of the pitch and hugs the kid, makes that kid's day. And there he goes smiling away, scoring another goal, wheeling away happy as all hell. Interviews after and just smiles, and says how happy he is. I love his attitude, man.

    Alan Shearer

Ronaldo overtaken shearer tonight. What fills me with pride is Shearer basically hasn't been surpassed by anyone in the modern era bar Ronaldo tonight and Messi eventually. Shearer did it at a time when football was probably a tad harder and had 2 horrific injuries that slowed down his career - where's Ronaldo and Messi have essentially played so much damn football (I know they've been dealing with injuries recently). But my word, Shearer truly is one of the greatest scorers in league-play of all time - fucking amazing to see him on that list.
  6. What did Drogba do? Ivanovic getting in Colo's face was quite stupid too after Colo tried helping him up.
  7. Takes a big leader to just kick off with a player bc he didn't believe in his brilliant football philosophy. No more goals. Keep it tight. Hopefully get some magic and nick it. Get stuck in lads. Keep the dressing room banter up. We owe it Mike who stuck by us, this one is for him bull shit.
  8. I called it in Match thread when he made that great track back tackle, he's won right wing for eternity.
  9. We probably pay him enough to just pay for his brother too
  10. This fucker always gets hurt man, god damn
  11. I'll be clear in that some Sunderland supporters at legends in NYC called him that and I loved it / laughed at it and it's stuck.
  12. I still can't believe Milner plays for this team
  13. We beat one of the best Chelsea sides in quite some time and we did it with one of our arguably worse sides

    José Mourinho

No complaints but then complains for entire interview.

    Paul Dummett

He's a CB for me; and next to Colo when fit until he proves otherwise. I actually LIKE him at CB tbh.
  16. People would be fuming if we walked out of this with 1 point as a result of going down to 10 men. Fm thankfully we didn't - but you don't get plaudits from me for being sent off in that manner. I was pissed at Moussa as well; its idiotic- and selfish to your team who have now got to do the job with one less player.

    Papiss Cissé

He also looks like he's not recovered from whatever injuries he's got - like he's running with a limp
  18. I'd play him RW to be honest - I just want him on the pitch at all times

    José Mourinho

He smirked after the 2-0, smirked at Pardew at full time too.

    Papiss Cissé

He's funny man, he can't run, he can't pass, he can barely trap the ball, he can't tackle, he can't cut out passing lanes, he can't pressure defenders, but he can score random goals, at any time. Fucking engima man.
  21. Fine, shouldn't have mis judged that ball on Willian and tackled the guy to get a yellow earlier. His mental lapses are huge man, b/c I agree he played good today. But those are the kind of mistakes that have marred him + his inability to stay healthy. We are again forced to shift the back 4 around again.
