People might underestimate the importance of Burn. He is now serving the first choice left back AND the back up centre back position. Imagine if Burn and Schar got a lengthy injury, we are basically down to Trippier - Las - Botman - Targett. No way we can survive the coming season if such happens Buy a new LB, let Burn be the cover for both positions. This is damn top priority imo

I really want to strengthen our left back position first. Winger / CM up next. I like Burn but we can’t survive this season if we rely on him again. Targett is obviously finished as well

Normally I would agree with this but for Livermento I think it’s a bit different as his injury record is terrible. If he got another lengthy injury in Championship that would be disastrous to his career

The chance of getting someone that we have never been linked before is much higher than we finally get someone that was reported by media.

We really shouldn’t pay much attention to the media. We never waste time negotiating fees with other clubs so if we really got a breakthrough we will get the player within days. Players like Guler and this RB lad probably was enquired by us a few weeks ago, and that’s it. Media thought we are in, but likely we are already enquiring the sixth player down the list.

To be fair people doesn’t expect him to demand such a high wage that would break our bank. No matter how good he is, we all can imagine how Bruno / Isak / Trippier would react if we lash out such a contract to Maddison. players with very high wages are extremely difficult to move. Look at Man United and Chelsea, or us to some extent. Lots of deadwood receiving wages for being a trainee only. Maddison asking for 195K ppw completely explains why only Spurs is interested and make an offer. He would be great for Spurs this season. What about 2 years later?
