The whole story does make sense. Rafa, after finishing a magnificent season, went to ask Ashley what's the way forward before signing the new deal. Ashley basically copy and paste last years lie without anything concrete. This pissed Rafa off and he started negotiation with West Ham and now the deal is imminent, just subject to the final say from Rafa. Obviously Rafa is waiting Ashley to make his last attempt/offer. If this couldn't satisfy Rafa, he will be West Ham new manager as early as next week.

We should be a better club over West Ham. But the manager job under Ashley is worse than the manager job or the terms Rafa likely will be offered there. That's the key. How many times Rafa has been fucked up since arriving here? He even didn't get any money to spend for three years. Nah it is kinda correct to write in this way. No matter what his "broke out chapter" has finished. After this summer no matter where he plays he is considered a star and, even if he plays for us again, his role will no longer be the same. We must ask for more than what he did this season since he costs us 20m+ (if). His next chapter is regular starter and a star in any top leagues. That's for certain. In a way this also means no chance he would stay in Chelsea unless he is guaranteed a starting spot.
