Reports in the Daily Mirror say that Eriksson is confident of getting his man in the January transfer window after stepping up his attempts to sign the England striker within the last few days. Owen, who will be 28 next Friday, has been plagued by injuries since joining Newcastle in a £16m deal 16 months ago.
