  3. from:The Sun Shearer backs Reds duo Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez can provide the firepower to help United retain the Barclays Premier League title, according to Newcastle legend Alan Shearer. While some have voiced concerns that the pair are too similar in style to work together, Shearer counters that their compatibility will make United an even more entertaining side next season. The former England star told The Sun: “I don’t believe Tevez and Wayne Rooney are too similar — because great players can always play well together. “Rooney and Tevez do not have a lot of height but that is not the way Manchester United play. How often do you see them aiming high balls up front? Not very. “Man United will be an even more exciting, entertaining team with Tevez in the side and you wouldn’t bet against them winning the title.” Shearer is confident that the Argentine can shrug off the media storm that has surrounded his protracted transfer to Old Trafford, having shown himself to be suitably thick-skinned last term. "Just when Tevez was at the centre of all that controversy at the end of last season, he started scoring goals left, right and centre and kept West Ham up almost single- handedly and against all odds," he said." “That suggests he will not have been affected by all the uncertainty over his future this summer and that he will be a success at United. “Tevez is just the sort of exciting talent Sir Alex has always liked to sign. He has really had to go out on a limb to sign Tevez and he wouldn’t have gone through all this if he didn’t rate him very highly." As well as using his undoubted skills in saving West Ham from relegation last season, Tevez also showed the grit and desire which Shearer feels will endear him to United fans. “Of course you have to say 100 per cent commitment is the least the fans should expect from any player," he said. “But there was something about Tevez’s workrate and enthusiasm that made him very popular with West Ham fans - even when he wasn’t scoring goals and the team looked to be going down.”

  7. I seen Dragutinovic several times and Dragutinovic is very good player.I think that He is better than Babayaro but He is too old for us for this price(8-12 M euros) Dragutinovic is also very strong player , 6′ 1″ tall and seems the classic Allardyce type defender...

  9. Have you seen much of him mate? What do you think of him? Yes I seen Dragutinovic several times and Dragutinovic is very good player.I think that He is better than Babayaro but He is too old for us for this price! Man City offerred €4m I read somewhere. Our offer will be in the same region I should imagine. from Sky Sports: Newcastle United and Manchester City are ready to battle it out for the signature of Ivica Dragutinovic. The Serbian stopper is highly-regarded by his club Sevilla, but the 31-year-old is keen to test himself in the Premier League and with just one-year left on his current deal, a move looks possible. Dragutinovic, who can play in central defence or at left-back, was linked with a move to City earlier this month - but now Newcastle are set to rival them for his signature. Reports in Spain claim that a Newcastle delegation has travelled to Seville to open talks in a bid to seal a quick move. Dragutinovic is aware of the interest from England and is keen on the switch and it now remains to be seen which club, if any, can broker a deal with Sevilla.

  11. Ivica Dragutinović ( born November 13, 1975 in Prijepolje, Serbia, ) is a Serbian footballer. He currently plays for Spanish La Liga side, Sevilla F.C. and is nicknamed Drago. He began his career at Serbian side FK Borac Čačak before heading to Belgium's Jupiler League to join K.A.A. Gent. He left Gent but stayed in Belgium, signing for Standard Liège in 2000. He was an overwhelming success at Standard and played over 200 games for them. In the Summer of 2005, many teams attempted to buy him, with Sevilla FC succeeding. He is contracted to Sevilla until the Summer of 2008.Now, Premier League sides Newcastle (managed by Sam Allardyce) and Manchester City have an interest for Serbian defender. Sevilla will only let him leave for a fee in the region of 8 to 12 million euros. :yikes: Dragutinović has played 33 games for Serbia and Montenegro . He also holds a Belgian passport, so he is not included in the three non-EU player quota of La Liga. Too much money for player who have 31 years(in November 32).-I think.
