2014 FIFA World Cup Brasil™ - Europe vs. America

Dzagoev looked like he would go on to be a world beater in Euro 2012. What has happened to him since? -
Okay whatever. Pardew knows we need more quality. You can't argue with me otherwise. And Papiss Cisse is shit. Sorry.
-
Well, it's actually worth alot so can you tell me how you know this? Why does he manage creativity and goals out of his players at an alarming rate. And how is he going to do more than his normal f*** all about it? And, 'FWIW', Pardew's only really said we need "offensif players" who "fretten the goal". He'll be happy with a AM to play Cabaye's role last season and some strikers that can score. Any less and we'll get relegated. He's had 18 months of a really good side at NUFC, non the most exciting but had players that could create or score. 2 good forwards, hard working wide man and CM's and he's delighted.

This is still the worst Arsenal team in the last 17 years though. At a point they had a young Flamini, Fabregas, Nasri, Adebayor & RVP. That bunch didn't win anything but it was a team he could leave behind with pride - this bunch aren't close.
-
which is quite a feat when you consider he managed to take the title off the best team of the last however many generations, that was mourinho's greatest achievement imho...he stopped the unstoppable and they've truthfully never been the same since I'd disagree. Barcelona peaked in Mou's first season at Madrid. The year before Pep left the decline had just started imo. Madrid were brilliant mind but it wasn't the same Barca of the previous season.

FWIW Pardew knows we need more creative and GS players or we will go down.
-
Brilliant signing. You'll see the Rakitic highlight reel on Revista and be impressed. But over the 90 minutes, he can put in an extraordinary amount of work rate. Against Real but Benfica especially, I was very impressed with him off the ball.
-
Barely watched NUFC post Feb. Saturday afternoons are too valuable to waste on a team that won't score a goal. Tend to be in the house Sundays so get to watch those games more.
-
Unless forrin, I don't believe many on here watch anything other than PL, CL and latter stages of EL (if that). Throw in a Sky Sports subscription and you should have a decent take on La Liga / "FL 72". I guess the same applies for BT & Bundesliga

I think in England, a little too much focus is on winning at a young age, which as a kid is often down to who is the strongest and fastest. Wenger said kids play too much competitive football here and not enough focus is on time spent training. No left foot. Can't head the ball etc. Same thing with our lower leagues. So many players but the focus is all about winning. I read (maybe here) that in places like Croatia with a population smaller than London, the focus in all leagues is how they play. Ability. Technique. They'll not get much for winning things in Croatia but play well.. you might get a big move abroad.

Debuchy will be off for a million more than we spent, isn't it?
-
Anything short of CL Final would be poor from them imo.
-
Agreed 100%. It's like how a number of the Dortmund players have struggled since moving on.

AVB, for all his tactical talent, doesn't seem to be a people person. Not a good man-manager. Hence the appointment of Sherwood. From one extreme to the other. He doesn't have tactical talent. Plays the same way in every game. Spurs were boring as f*** and couldn't break down teams Sometimes he'd change - then inexplicably go back to his fond tactics and get battered.

AVB, for all his tactical talent, doesn't seem to be a people person. Not a good man-manager. Hence the appointment of Sherwood. From one extreme to the other. He's not even good tactically. He has a system and method he likes to deploy, which is based around tactics but doesn't really take into consideration the players at his disposal or who he is up against. Michael Dawson can't defend on the halfway line. Yet he kept asking him to do so.
-
plays better football than the results he gets. They where so much better than us but only had the.... 8-9 more points? AVB played horrible football. Couldn't manage upwards. Couldn't manage downwards with big ego's. And they got battered a number of times leading me to think he had lost the dressing room. Levy isn't Pardew so he's not goign to stand for that crap.

Spurs and Fiorentina aren't in the CL and won't challenge for domestic titles in their divisions. They aren't bigger than Galatasary either.
-
If you don't move to EPL or a Spanish super power you're a mercenary.
-
Better finisher? Sure. Will he get 10 assists a year? Is his all round game at that level? Is he better than their wide options? For that i would say yes for most occasions.
-
Is his all round game good enough for an Arsenal to be the lone front man? I'm not sure. Would be an excellent signing for clubs looking to break into the top 4. I don't think he or Demba are good enough to start regularly for a top 4 side. Demba' probably a better option off the bench.

One of the few likeable things about NUFC has just left the building. Tbh while we continue to harbour no ambition I would rather we do it with Shola Ameobi than without.
-
With some fresh legs Atletico may have scored on the counter at 1-0. Or provide some real fret to relieve pressure. Ancelotti brought on Isco and Marcelo (and Carvahal) in the league earlier in the season to change the game and earn a point as Atleti tired. I'm surprised Simeone would waste a substitution knowing Madrid have options off the bench. Perhaps he thought there was only 2 decent moves on his bench regardless.
-
Disgusting. Simeone's been brilliant this year but playing Costa cost them the win imo. Even though he's played only 9 minutes and Atletico where minutes from winning it? Okay, buddy. Yes. They lost because they ran out of legs. 1 more pair of fresh legs could've won the game for them. At 75 minutes their legs had totally gone.
-
Squad won it for Madrid in the end. Isco & Marcelo changed the game.
