Deuce is having a laugh surely? Shaw at LB? Ridiculous. Sterling & Ox aren't regulars. As soon as English players have to be regulars at club level things will change. Caulker and the like are truly rotated so that's okay. But atm Smalling is back-up.
-
Smalling shouldn't make the squad as long as he's behind Ferdinand/Vidic/Evans
-
I care. just not that much.
-
That last line is not true. '98 Guivarch. Whoever Greece had in '04. Toni scored twice in '06. Spain won the WC & Euro's with out-of form strikers.
-
Agreed. Half the side. IMO this is the biggest problem. Made worse that they get the nod over players playing regularly for smaller clubs. Milner, Cleverley are proper rotation players which is okay. Welbeck gets the nod for big games so even that's not the worst. But Smalling and Lescott are at best 4th choice. They shouldn't play. Look at the side that beat Germany 5-1. Mostly young but also regulars at that age.

England are like Spurs. Natural chokers. Throw in a genuine lack of class and here we are, struggling.

Quite like Keane's punditry personally. Seems to steer clear of the arse licking most pundits tend to give England/the top Prem sides when they're playing on shI-TV. He's hilarious. Glad he's not my boss or something. Can see why he's a crap manager. Bad for morale.
-
Difficult to progress if English players don't play for the top clubs and the manager would rather play those on the fringes of those sides than the players regularly playing for teams lower down. At least 3 of those players wouldn't make their clubs best XI.

Steve Harper rejoins NUFC as Academy coach

He was. -
Colo's been poor for the majority of this season. IMO part of it must be down to his "issues" and wanting to leave. "He's done nothing wrong" is laughable.
-
G.Johnson is much better than Walker. Under-rated by fans at large imo.
-
Don't see why they would :S. They hated him for playing for Liverpool and then turned up at theirs to do nowt but complete his medal collection. Because he was delighted to be there. A former L'pool legend happy to be a part of the squad. And winning something none of their current team have. Furtheremore, that goal he scored against City made him a mini cult hero.
-
I would love to have a run like Chelsea did in the late 90's. FA Cups and UEFA Cups.
-
Made of steel.
-
A shame for his league adaptation but he's not available in the UEFA anyway.
-
Man Utd. fans seem to like him. L'pool fans don't because he left on bad terms. He did and won a lot while at the club. We hate him because he summed up the worst aspects of our club at a time. Was also terrible when we really needed him, made worse that he was captain. Barely played since then.
-
This. Would've been happy enough with him staying as back-up for squad depth, sadly his ego is too inflated. Agreed.
-
Would agree.

He would be disappointed imo. Imagine how much more pointing he would do with the armband? He's made more NUFC appearances than anyone else that's a regular. 27, so not a bairn anymore. At best, he's 5th choice behind Colo, Cabs, Jonas & Tiote. Definitely disappointing for him imo. But he's the type to put the club before his personal glory. Even if he's got a weird way of showing it haha.

It was more the fact that you claimed he had a poor game and "his passing stat tells the whole strory", which tbf was complete bullshit. If all he's doing is giving the ball away like against Wigan (slight hyperbole mind) then it's a fair point to make. He wasn't really in the game at all yesterday. I thought to myself "Sissokho seems to be losing the ball a lot. Do something positive, then lose it." Instead of just coming on here, I checked StatsZone to make sure I hadn't seen it happen a few times then jump to conclusions. But the passing stats backed up my observation. One of the biggest reasons we couldn't sustain pressure against Stoke was because the lads up top couldn't keep it. I called his performance "disappointing". Similar performance Sunday. Had Pardew noted it, maybe Siss would've calmed it down a bit?

yeah, you can make things up if you like. I said i'd like a Benteke type. Big, strong and fast. Can run in behind but also hold it up/flick-ons. According to stats, Benteke would be something like twice the finisher of Cisse right? I notice Giroud's passing is seemingly the worst. I think those stats include headed passes attempts from flick-ons etc. The big lads have considerably worse pass retention. What's made up? You said he was better... Considering Benteke actually has a very similar conversion rate to Cisse this year, taking nearly twice as many shots per game, it would appear they're fairly level in that regard, one has simply had more opportunities than the other this season. Your last point might have been valid, if we weren't the biggest users of the long ball in the league. You don't think Cisse's not had the ball belted at him at head height a fair bit this year? You said Cisse didn't contribute enough, or to any effect, yet he finds a team mate 3 times out of 4 and is just involved in matches just as much as Van Persie. He's not just some poacher with no ability man. He's 5 years younger, can challenge in the air and is pretty quick and strong. Damn right i'd have him here over Cisse. He's not a better player now but in 5 years? Just as an athlete, the potential is serious. I'd have Aguero over RVP but he's not the better player. According to ESPN Cisse has 60 shots and 7 goals 8.5%. Benteke 6.69%. That's a decent gap man. I domn't know where you're getting your stats from. Once again, Bullshit on the chance creation thing. We've scored way more goals than Villa, yet they create more chances? Bullshit. Secondly, strikers contribute to chance creation greatly. Things like pace, power, movement help strikers create chances. Suarez creates loads for himself through pace, skill and harrying defenders. Drogba's strength got him a load of chances. Crouch scores headers most others can't due to height. You understand? If you're not fast, nor strong, nor good in the air, nor skillful, guess what? You'll struggle to get on the end of possible chances. Cisse plain old doesn't win the headers. We both know this. They don't detract from his total because he doesn't win them. From the Villa game, Benteke won loads in the air but nobody was close. You've watched Cisse all season man. You can't tell me his allround game is comparable to Robin Van Persie. The movement to drag opposition players for your team mate to take advantage of, the understanding he has with Rooney. How often do you say, "Cisse didn't score but he's been excellent?" Doesn't happen often at all.

Why? Danny Simpson isn't that bad man ffs.

Agreed again.
