It’s been some time since Spurs had blockbuster signings. For a long time they had a free run at younger players the top 4/5 didn’t go for. They had Carrick, Berbatov, Bale, Modric, Dele, Kane, Son. Even Dembele and Kyle Walker. Now the chasing pack is a lot smarter. When they hired Poch and everyone else had the Bruce, Pardew, Allardyce etc. Spurs still have their pick - Bergvall, Gray and others signed for a lot of money.
-
Hope they would give him another crack Ten Hag style. They might hire someone competent.

Soiled baggies galore on here

Football is fickle. 1 goal all season is what people will see.
-
Looking that way. Not confirmed.

Palace are my second team (or third 🤔) but I do find it funny that they are likely to get kicked out of the Europa league. In most topics their fans are tops but they were particularly dickriding the FFP stuff. Not realising the rules are just there to protect a small number of clubs. UEFA darlings will have multi club ownership and can play against each other. But Palace can’t share a single shareholder. In the same shoes UEFA would allow Man U to compete. But you’re Palace and it’s not allowed.

I love Cal but the 20 appearances and 0 goals isn’t going to help him. He really needed to score a few in those last few months of the season.   Same with DCL stinking it out.
-
I also don’t think Wilson will accept it either. This was on the table before the last game of the season and he looked offski.
-
I’m stil all-in that we’ll get a hybrid forward that can play with Isak and upfront. Wilson to do the league cup, Fa cup and dying seconds gig. Osula out on loan.

Guys - we knew this.

And you know the oil-money sides, Real, Chelsea will go for it. Does it mean the team gets to win the Gold Badge for the next 4 years? You know Florentino is going to make Real being the most successful side in CWC history part of Madrid lore. Winning this would have them way ahead of anyone else
-
Players are going to do the best they can. It's top level football. It's going to be fun.
-
Diomande can pass and win his headers. I approve.
-
I'm looking forward to the CWC personally. Particularly, how Real line-up. You can't start 3 CBs for Madrid. I think they can get away with Tchou has nominal CBs that can step into midfield and play at that level. Who will play LWB if that's the system? How will TAA look? Does he go front 3 or front 2. What do you do with Jude? Should be fun. It's crazy though.

We knew this.

Thought we were going to talk about bringing Forster home.
-
We could genuinely rotate Isak ands Osimhen though for a season. Then Osimhen can finally get his Saudi move. Even then I think we go 2 uptop, Isak drops a bit deeper.
-
If the game is in the balance, he's not getting 20-30 minutes regularly. More like 5-10 as fresh legs if we are winning by a single goal. Maybe 15-20 if going 2 up becomes our chasing option. He only gets 20-30 when a game is handily won imo. Pre-Christmas there will only be a maximum of 2/3 League Cup games right? He could start a PL game against a promoted side but even then i'm not confident. Rather give Isak 45-70 minutes to win the game. He would be an ok understudy for the Isak injury though. But like would he have started Everton, knowing Isak was at 70% - I think Isak starts. I agree with this. But I also think your teams best player - as a lone striker - is almost always going to get flogged. Less than Isak aye but he's getting flogged regardless. Salah - 4.5k minutes this season Kylian Mbappe - 4.6k Lamine Yamal - 4.5k We should work on his stamina - and it has gotten better this season when fully fit. But we should also adapt our tactical approach to be less intensive for him. And as you say, we need to lower the threshold of when he's subbed/benched by having better bench options. But.... he's still going to get flogged to some degree is my point I guess. It's the nature of being a star man. You can't then also flog your entire midfield 3 on top.
-
I agree with this. I just don’t see the value in a fee for a backup striker alone. Alvarez/Marmoush types that can play with the star striker is the way to go. Either 10 or wide.
-
Point is when is he actually going to play? It doesn’t make sense to spend £25m on a player who will only play when a single player is injured or when a game is already won. It’s not like he’s a kid with massive potential either.
-
I don’t see the logic of paying a decent fee for a player that will be strict backup. Isak will still start every game he is 80% fit for and the other player will be on the bench. A worthwhile understudy needs to be able to play with Isak either at 10 or RW. That way you can get a higher calibre of player.
-
I think a 10/striker hybrid and a change of system is on the cards. It probably means we could get away with a free/cheap CM as effectively 6th choice CM. Id take JP for £60m + Gomes/Doucoure for ‘free’. If we planned to play with JP at the 10 a lot of the time. Both would be backup in that system. And next up in a 433 if needed. That should still allow us to buy a RW and CB imo.

I has to watch the game on a stream. Only Amazon were showing the game for a fee!

There are question marks about him mentally/physically. Pep is probably the best manager for him. If he can’t respect and work hard for Pep, he’ll never do it. Either Pep or Carlo.
