I appreciate the effort. Doesn’t always come off. It doesn’t detract for me. I came on here wanting to talk about a fantastic game of football to find people moaning about the commentator trying too hard at his job.
-
Fair enough. Just find the constant whinging about commentators on here tiresome. And to me - Drury is fun. I’m still laughing at ‘and Rodri clarted it’. Only a fun loving man would say that on national TV. And a student of the English language.
-
Do you like any main commentator under 60?
-
Drury sounds like he’s having a blast commentating and using the English language so obviously NO hates him.
-
Really wish we had been in for Palmer. He’s perfect for us. The physicality and athleticism, work rate but with bags of ability. Left footed. Ah so perfect for us. He’s a Howe signing.

That is true. But last season we went on some mean runs especially away from home. Brentford, Southampton, Everton, Fulham, *Spurs*, Forest for example. There’s also games at home we drew that we could better. But in a lot of those away days we were so sharp when it mattered. -
What do you think he’s ready for? I don’t think he’s ready to start games away in the PL if we expect to win them. He’s ready for 15-20 minutes at the end of games. And learning how to be a pro in this squad.
-
Trossard is also really good at CF/false 9. interestingly the Arsenal wingers are more like inside forwards. So having a striker that drops deep is great for them (Saka and Martinelli). Which is why Trossard is a great fit. Our wingers are more like wingers staying wider with a more isolated striker that needs to hold it up. I don’t think Nketiah is unreliable. Modern football demands a lot from players these days. Some players are seemingly bullet proof like Mo Salah. Lad doesn’t miss a game. Usually plays in every game even if it’s 45 minutes. Mane was like that too. But now Liverpools other strikers do pick up injuries. Livperool have 5 top class attackers but 1 is usually injured sometimes more. We need to get to a place where we have a solid top class 5 - Isak, Gordon, Barnes, Wilson, new player. Then Almiron & Murphy on the fringes if needed. Our Harvey Elliott’s.
-
Good experience for the lad. Would like to see him out on loan next season. He doesn’t look ready for the PL but you can see he has bags of ability.
-
As someone said. We can buy them and then sell em back to Saudi for the same money.
-
No needs to be fair market value.
-
He’s good at getting into the box for crosses. I thought he looked our only attacker with any ability. We are short in attacking areas though. As good as Gordon is, he’s not a creative player.
-
If he was playing well I don’t think he would be subbed. im sure Howe hates the idea of a back 4 all right footed. But with the personnel available that’s all we can do.
-
Unless you have a relegation level striker or a Champo striker sitting on the bench - Gordon/Joe is the best most teams will get. playing Matt Ritchie is the problem.

There are elite teams that are high press. But you need 22 players of the right quantity. We have about 18. And they need to be better technically than what we have. Dortmund are literally that side. Liverpool too. With that higher quality technically you have players more capable of controlling a game with the ball. With everyone fit you eventually have Bruno - Tonali - another player of that quality. Then the next 3 coming in as necessary. We have another wide option too and a higher quality 3rd CB and a better LB. we are only 1 or 2 injuries away from not being much of a technical team. With the 8-9 other injuries we lost our counter attacking bite. I do agree that the next 2-3 signings need to be better technically than even Tonali. -
Think he looks more a midfielder than a defender at this point.
-
If he’s only got 45 minutes in him. Let it be the first 45. Hall has plenty of time on his side. But he’s short of being a top PL left back by some margin.
-
With the personnel we have available it was always going to be a tough day. We needed a sharp counter attack and a compact team and we had neither. Eventually we need to be able to dominate the ball but we are a long way from that.
-
Our style is so hard running though. If we can’t out run the other team - what do we have? Considering the injuries.
-
Aye start Livra. He’s been our best player recently. Would’ve liked to have seen Hall in midfield. Wouldn’t have had Joe at 9. Gordon’s shown flashes there at times. But the worst thing is the performance was awful. The Tonali suspension and our lack of options in forward areas is really hurting us. This season always had the potential for mounting injuries and not being able to play in our preferred style. And here it is. Need bodies back refreshed after the IB
-
Thought he got his first team selection wrong. But tbh we weren’t at it from the start.

We’ve been as bad as I’ve seen us under Eddie. Not having any striker really affected us from the start. -

And only 3 of them capped right? Hall, Lascelles, Livramento, Willock and Longstaff huge night for them.
