Villa have a deep squad. They've put in replacements for their long-term injuries. Although not as good, they are internationals for top European nations. Even their Watkins backup looks a player. It's the Cup runs that might do them. But the Conference League isn't that tough. I can see them blowing out a few teams in the first leg of KO rounds and being able to rotate. I keep saying it, but not being in Europe is massive for Spurs and Chelsea.

The weekends football showed there’s not many GKs definitively better than Pope. Raya And Sanchez both making costly mistakes. I think Pope sweeps up the Wilson goal where Johnstone was so deep. I said before the only GK in the Division that is a level above Pope is Allison. The rest have weaknesses in their game to a similar extent to Pope or worse. You have to judge managers (and players) on their talent level and what they did in their era. Howe has that galvanising skill KK had. But greater emotional intelligence

No. It means he’s coming come rain or shine. It shows he’s not really in Eddie’s immediate plans. I honestly think he’ll get more minutes at CM than LB if Sandro gets banned soon. He’s 3rd choice LB right now. If Burn was 3rd choice CB things would be different. Howe doesn’t mind playing Burn ALL THE TIME either. He tends to save Trips legs when games are won.

There’s stiff comp at LW. I like how close to Wilson he was at times and how he was always in the box when crosses came in. He’s got a forwards/strikers mindset.

He’s reacted in the right way and taken on the challenge.
