  1. Be shocked if he got any less than 70% of what he's due.
  2. Yeh I know. PSG did it but finishing in the play-offs makes winning the whole thing very hard.
  3. Would fancy us against Chelsea if at home in the second leg.
  4. He’s had an ACL and 2 injuries this season - no? Been available a lot more than Hall has who I think they’ll also go for at some point.
  5. I missed the first 20 minutes. But pretty much everything I saw in the first half was building to the equaliser. We don’t create many chances but we were just building our strength into the game for such a moment. Second half I thought we lacked a bit of quality or luck to snatch it. A bit more quality on the ball from Tonali and Ramsey and we fashion another few chances and score. that is nit picking though. Everyone did their very best including Howe. It’s us that should be more disappointed with that draw. That’s an achievement.
  6. Funnily enough I don't think we were. Had we been out our very best - tighter on the ball we get a couple more opportunities on the counter and win it. Still a great performance mind
  7. Burn has been better than anyone could imagine. Decent chance he goes to World Cup 2026. Not a single soul would've had that back in 2023 or whenever he joined.
  8. Also think he’s suffering from general fatigue and it’s worsening his decision making and passing. He still as the athletic capacity to get about the pitch but it’s impacting his decision making and technique. Similar to how everyone who started the game were making bad decisions and sloppy passes by the last 5 minutes. Even Lewis Hall.
  9. We wouldn't have signed him had Botman accepted right? He was meant to be a stop gap like Targett. Now look at him - legend.
  10. You probably can. But you can also spend £100m+ cumulative on several goalkeepers that don't cut it. ID'ing great goalkeepers is hard. Very few are the complete package - maybe just Allison. The best is Courtois imo but he is just about ok with his feet. Likewise Donnarumma - just about ok. I know he's on massive wages but I do think PSG thought they could upgrade Donnarumma with the Chevalier lad. So far, he's not looked up to scratch. To the point he was benched for a clown.
  11. It's so funny to me when our fans act like this. Pretty much all football clubs in England are special in their own way. I hear from idiot fans of other teams talk about Newcastle not being a big club, not winning trophies, being a mess, and having fat topless fans in stadiums as being our DNA. It's silly. But anyway... Palace have always had several (south) London-based players in their team - also largely British and Irish squad. FA Cup winning match-day squad would have 5-6 from London - at least 4 from South London. Tricky wingers of a certain style. Hard working central midfielders. Mateta suited them. Getting players from the Championship suits them. Pino - Strand Larson - Brennan Johnson Might need a visit in the Champ to realise who they are again.
  12. Never thought his passing was incredible. This is the usual journey with Newcastle players though. Something will be glaring about their game and many fans will act blind to it at first of they hit the ground running. When they go through a sticky patch, that same thing is all anyone can talk about. Sissoko - passing, Botman and Bruno - speed etc.
  13. Palace have lost the plot. They’ve lost what made Palace, Palace. Dark horse for relegation this year maybe too many points but for next. Better off sticking with Eddie Nketiah.
  14. Also seems pretty streaky. Nearly all his goals last season came in a block. That’s pretty much the only time he’s scored regularly in his career too.
  15. Aye wanted a team we've not played in my lifetime or that I can't recall Real, Bayern, Atleti, we've played the other bigger names
  16. He's your archetypal Italian water carrier. The type they used to win major tournaments with routinely. They are meant to pass the ball to Baggio, Del Piero, Rui Costa, Kaka, Zidane etc.
  17. Could see the confidence rush back through his veins. Great to see on a human level someone just grow 3-4 inches in real time. First time in a long time it looked like he was having fun out there. Was gutted to be subbed. Must be like Cinderella at midnight - having the time of your life and having to leave early. He was knackered.
  18. I did call a back 5 and starting Ramsey and Elanga it's their type of game Overlooked Willock who was great too
  19. I think it does. In the PL - he always thinks we need strength and athleticism. So 3 proper midfielders that go up and down. He was happy to put Ramsey in a 2 man pivot because he's up against Vitinha and co, physically that's still in our favour. The question is whether he's willing to take those gambles in the league with a back 4.
  20. Definitely have to factor in possible dropped points/position in the league due to the extra 2 games. It does look like we'll get a favourable draw
  21. Singing goalkeepers in this era is so hard. Chevalier at PSG has looked ropey when I’ve seen him. And the replacement today was shocking.
  22. After playing so well I am disappointed to be in the play offs. But the ties look Favourable. A run to the last 16 being 12 games is crazy though.
  23. Massive shift and his engine was unbelievable tonight. Kept going right to the end and launched some counters. On the ball - it is what it is. Don’t think this is true mind. When he joined the reports and stats were that he could be loose with his passing. And we saw it when he couldn’t hold down a place. It did get better and it has regressed again but it’s always been a weakness to his game.
