The rules are that upon winning the league you would move to the league above and play a different set of clubs. The current proposal would mean after gaining promotion they would play largely the same set of clubs i.e not really a promotion. If it happened to us, we would be livid. Whatever you think of them 40,000+ crowds playing basically non league fixtures is admirable from the support perspective.

Getting Cabaye back is massive. He can slide in the kind of pass that Cisse thrives on and which has been sorely missed, compounded by the absence of HBA.

That´s just flawed logic. So in the unfortunate event that he actually would like to join us, Ashley would then try to sabotage the deal in some other way just to make it look like we tried? I didnt say Ashley would sabotage it. When we mean to actually sign someone there generally isnt much news before hand. Therefore I belive this to be a PR stunt much like the bid for Wayne Rooney.
