  1. Survival. CL football would beat FA Cup I'd think but at the same time I would take a Carling Cup if it meant we were down for a season only.

There's not much of a level of confirmation there at all, though, given the relative absence of any context. True, what else can we add to it? Chez, you know full well that HP would fail a statistics course if he presented his information like he's done in this thread. You need to do proper regressions, have big sample sizes etc. This look at minutes and goals conceded or % of shots taken inside the area to points is such a fundamentally flawed analysis that i just don't know where to start. If you can't even give confidence levels to your conclusion then it's even worse. What he's done in this thread is just confused anyone who doesn't have a background in Maths and used statistics in the worse way to 'back up' his point, by which he means that he's cherry picked stats to prove his points. Here, I'm going to do something similar: List of players in order of appearances: Cisse (34), Jonas (33).... Goals conceded: 67 (third worst in the league) Jonas is s***. I love Pip, he's such a douche Although I do agree with you.

  4. I watched the game highlights.....awful mistake from the Palmeiras keeper. It was terrible. Bruno their goalkeeper has apparently been playing well of late too and the fans were starting to love him, we'll see what their opinion is of him now.
  5. Corinthians - Boca Juniors tonight think it's 2am British time. Replay of the final from last year except this time Corinthians lost the away game. Atmosphere will be massive and if anyone is awake it's worth the watch to see two of the biggest clubs in South America playing for a quarter final place. Corinthians is on verge of winning Sao Paulo regionals after beating Santos 2-1 in the first game while Boca is in the complete opposite side in the Argentinian league as they're in the relegation zone after 13 games with only 10 points having only won once. Also Arena Corinthians is looking very slow to build and Valcke and FIFA are threatening to take it off the list as a World Cup stadium which obviously won't happen as Sao Paulo is Brazils largest city and also the fact that it's 76% complete and started being built a year after the others. It does look impressive and their big screen is going to be the largest screen in a sports venue in the world. 3x better image and almost twice the size as the Cowboys Stadium screen. (the screen looks like it will be on the outside on the entire wall of the eastern section) I wonder if fans will be able to watch the game through there?
  6. Well they should be filled with loads of confidence heading into Europa. Sure to do well... There could be some serious changes at Wigan over the summer, guess that's the worry. Will they be the same club next season? If Martinez is gone they'll need to strenghten that defense and try to keep the players. As it is now they'll be good enough for playoffs I'd think. QPR will probably win that league if they can keep players. What? QPR will sink into League 1 if they keep the same mercenaries. Eh there team is good enough for the Championship man, they just need a fresh start. At least that's what I'd think. But like you said they're mercenaries so they're all gone anyways. It's not about talent it's about their application. Their players couldn't be bothered all year in the Premiership. They'd care even less in the Championship. That on the other hand is probably true But they do have enough talent for that league.

Aye, it's the flids who say stuff ike "you don't know football" if you disagree with them that make this thread a joke, not HF. Like I wrote above I might have misunderstood his post and I'll apologize and do a Pardew and use language barrier as an excuse. But it seemed he was deeming 95% of this forum to being wrong?

He's not being respectful is he though, he's basically saying 95% of this forum is clueless, or at least that's how I read it. And if I'm wrong I apologize.

Then again. But it's quite obvious isn't it? I mean how can 95% be in the wrong? There are managers out there with far less resources, far less talents at their disposal doing stuff. How can a team like WBA finish above us? A team like Stoke most likely finishing above us? You have to get to the absolute source of that and while I think the players have a big reason for us underachieving massively this season the biggest problem of them all is the manager or even Dekka & Mike for keeping him. Everyone admits we've had a s**** season and shouldn't be anywhere near that position. And everyone admits Pardew has made loads of mistakes and has to take a lot of the responsibility. Not everyone though.

Happy Face, tbh it's you who is in the wrong here man. You're trying to see things through both sides and points of views but for me it's clear you don't know football. Most on here are very informed and knowledgeable from watching football from leagues all over the world who have seen other teams play 100 times and therefore have built there opinion on other than Newcastle. I've in my lifetime very rarely seen football played in such a cowardly manner as under Pardew. I have a family who we all grew up with football, I don't know how many times I have had to sit through Newcastle games even last season with criticism for Pardew. It was obvious last season and it's even more obvious this season. He can't adapt, he can't change and he can't manage a football club at the highest level. I'll be happy to be proved wrong, but that is dependant on him learning from mistakes which from his interviews is clear he doesn't see them as that. I think most on here have come to realize this and it's not weird we want the best for the club. To say we have been massively unlucky this season is also proof of being excessively lucky last season. This season we have had a fair few lucky moments in our favour too, Figueroa being harshly sent off, Evertons goal not counting while we've also had some unlucky and terrible refereeing calls. In the end we have a team good enough not to depend on decisions and something Pardew has not done. No one expects someone new to come in and make Mike Williamson play like a classy CB, but you look around the league and world and you have a lot of managers adapting players to their tactics and helping them improve while we have a manager who has stagnated players at our disposal. Last week* I had this discussion with Inochi and he refused to see it the same way as me and I respect that, but before Ben Arfa came into the side last season we won very few points, had we not had a great start to the season or had Benny come into the team to save us we'd probably have finished around the same. Credit where it's due though Pardew did get the team to play efficiently and that's why I've many times compared him to someone like Sven Göran Eriksson. Both have this inability to makes changes for the good, to see their blatant mistakes and try to correct them. If Sven managed us I'd see the exact same problem. It's a conservative style of football with no back up plan if it fails. Luckily for Sven his style worked for him many times, but it was very obvious it didn't always work. I'll never forget the 2002 world cup quarterfinal and I'll be forever thankful for England having Sven as a manager. Brazil up 2-1 with a man less with 20-25 minutes to go absolutely dominated the ball, England had no idea what to do when they were in advantage player wise. Instead of looking for a win they were left confused when a player like Roberto Carlos stole the ball, ran the length of the pitch, stopped, looked back and passed it back around to the defenders in a way not to lose the ball. I saw the same with him against other teams at World Cups. Pardew falls into the same category for me but obviously at a lesser level. With that said many managers can play defensively and still be good managers, look at Ancelotti, Capello, Tite etc. More boring styles of play are hard to find but they have a system in place and believe in their philosophy. You also have to Loco ones like Tele Santana, Bielsa etc. Drawing a conclusion from this, it's beyond me how anyone can be surprised that 95% (w/e that number came from) are completely against the bloke, but I can promise you HF that we will all be hoping he changes over the summer if his still here. tl;dr...

Especially Wigan (a). We were robbed there, but at the same time, we should've left Everton with 0 points. Although after that karma hit us bad and we got so many decisions against us. I believe we were very lucky last season but this season too we've been a bit unlucky.

    La Liga 14/15

VI or anyone else, having just recently started watching Spanish football again regularly I'd like to know what players have been the biggest surprise this season and what teams have the biggest potential. I was watching Sociedad play and by the looks of what I saw and the table they seem a good footballing side but how are they economically? Will they be able to keep players like Griezemann and Vela?
  16. Could see him moving to a club like Crystal Palace if he went down in wages. Be harsh on that Murray guy but if he's the center-point of attack for a team I still think Bent could score 14-15 goals a season.

Cheers marra I don't think he can make us ATTRACTIVE either. I don't think he (or Ashley) care about how attractive we are. I think for him to at least be EFFECTIVE though, like we were last season, requires some semblence of consistency in the formation used and the first 11 filling the places. Honestly though, any manager with this type of players at his disposal will make the team win games if there's no injuries. A manager should be good enough to adapt to different situations and not rely on his best players playing every game. I think it's hard for anyone to defend Pardew, but a lot of people defend Pardew for last season, where if anyone remembers the games we weren't good enough either offensively and relied heavily on Krul and Colo making cases for best in their positions in the league and individual brilliance forward. This season with conceding goals we've ended far down the table and deservedly so, we have a footballing coward as a manager. With that said I agree with Incognito, if he is still here come August/September we have to support him and hope he's learnt something over the summer. I still believe any human being can learn from past mistakes, my biggest fear though is that he doesn't see any of this as mistakes and more as bad luck. As for the stats, nothing says we should be higher up the table on there. Stats are meaningless and especially considering shots on target and so on. That's not creating chances, that's shooting on target which Jonas does with every cross and Cabaye does 5 times a game usually very weakly though. To see in the stats how we actually play we should look at the ratio of shortpasses/longpasses it's embarrassing that almost every 6th pass is a longball. And if you compare to other teams our central defenders average 60passes together per game in between them. Compare that to a team like Stoke where their CBs average like 50 and that will say quite a lot about us, especially as you rarely see our defenders pass the ball on the floor. I do agree what you said though. you probably will find stats to compromise every opinion and I guess that is true, but having seen our games this season and last season there are little doubt that Pardew is nowhere near good enough for us based on the last 2 and a half years.
  18. There's no doubt Danny Rose will start for Spurs next season. Better than both our fullbacks in my opinion and seems to be very good going forward and has enough pace to cover up for positioning mistakes. Can see him turning into a class left-back.
  19. Real Garcilaso, been in existence since July 28, 2009. They're are one of four teams in the Peruvian top flight founded since 2000 which is utter madness. They play in Cuzco which gives them a massive advantage in home games due to the altitude. http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/clubfootball/news/newsid=2076318.html?intcmp=newsreader_news_caption Unbelievably after tonight there could well be more Argentine teams left in the Copa than Brazilian ones which would be a massive turn up for the books given the financial disparity and depth between the two leagues. Fancy Atlético Mineiro to win it though. That's amazing, haven't read or cared for the peruvian league so that's interesting to hear. As for the Copa, I can see it being 3 teams from each country, but no way Gremio doesn't go through with Fluminense and Atletico Mineiro. I actually think if Corinthians go past Boca, they'll probably win it. They're for me the best (unbiased here ) team with the most organized team. Guerrero and Paulinho are a bit too good for South America at the moment.
  20. If we are going to have an american one we'll have a South American too where me and Disco can talk to ourselves Anyways, interesting stuff reading this morning. Ramires wife have gone raging on instagram calling the Brazilian national team a mafia for not selecting him to play the Confederations Cup while news has come out that Willian (ex- Shaktar now Anzhi) father paid some marketing group around £30k in 2011 to get Willian to get called up for the national team in the hope of helping with a move to England. Finally Teixeira the big thief is out and I really hope the new CBF president isn't as big of a thief, but knowing politicians in Brazil he might as well be. In other news Copa Libertadores last 16 being played and Mexican team Tijuana sent out Palmeiras (last years Brazilian Wigan). I'd suggest people read about Tijuana a bit, their owner is a mad rich man who bought the club 10 years ago or so and changed it's name and location and won the Mexican league last year. He has a special affection for animals and was caught trying to get into Mexico with a white leopard or tiger or w/e animal it was and I think he owns something like 20,000 exotic animals and have 19 children with different women. Ronaldinho and co. stuffed Sao Paulo and are through while current Champions Corinthians are down 1-0 after first game in Argentina against Boca Juniors. Some Peruvian team have made it to the quarterfinals on penalties against Nacional from Uruguay (where Loco Abreu plays).
  21. Dutch league is shit anyways. But in defense of the dutch guy too, Kuyt wasn't really a striker when he played for Liverpool so did well to get 1 in 4 tbf. The guy ran like no one else, a less talented Tevez.
  22. at Wigan, have no idea wtf you're talking about.
