    Hatem Ben Arfa

Imagine if your 5 aside team had f***ing Hatem Ben Arfa in it He didn't even do anything special there. And also I'd rather have Messi in mine Or even Shola, imagine the amount of goals Shola would score by falling over the ball in such a small pitch.

But even financially they haven't made it too much worse. They average 5k more attendance when he plays at home then when he doesn't. They've gone furhter in continental cups and regionals cups meaning a fair bit of money coming in. Thanks to him they've also received better sponsorships deals. It's just plain stupid to think that Santos have done some bad deal here. I think it's been pretty close to perfect. Maybe they could've done better by selling him in January, but then they wouldn't have been a goal away from four straight Campeonato Paulista titles.

Van Persie cost Yanited more and Nasri was about the same. Besides Arsenal in both situations got 100% of the money, Santos are only getting a cut of it. 13m is shocking when you compare similar transfers. Van Persie was £24m and Nasri was £20m. Also the fact that Santos didn't receive the full fee is irrelevant because they haven't been paying his full wages for a while either. If they haven't been the only investor in Neymar, hence not being the only party to have risked money in him, then why should they reap more benefit than their share? You're dancing around in circles. Firstly it was the fee and now it's Santos not receiving the full whack. Both your criticisms don't have merit. Aye and in pounds Neymar was 24m, which Santos only get 55% of. Anyway i see people disagree so i won't continue. FYP

What I don't get is that they won the Libertadores for the first time in almost 50 years thanks to Neymar. That alone should be worth more than anything. He gave them (the fans) a chance to travel to Japan and watch their team play the worlds best team. He has given them so much, I don't think Santos would've really cared if he went for free come 12 months. The biggest reason for selling him is the fact that they won't see much of him with Confederations Cup and bunch of friendlies and then the World Cup next year. The next 12 months Neymar would've spent more time with the national side than Santos almost. It's been an astute piece of business by Santos along the way when it comes to Neymar. Santos also gets two friendlies against Barcelona one at Vila Belmiro (sell out crowd and probably a bit more expensiver tickets) and one at Camp Nou which I'd believe given the circumstances they will receive the tickets income for or at least half of it also. €15m + two friendlies + one Libertadores title and one semifinal + one Japan trip + one Paulista and another final appearance + tons of income and reputation as a club > €30m or w/e they would've gotten from the Real Madrid €55m offer. How anyone can say they seem stupid in hindsight is shocking.

Depends, he's a humble guy in many ways off the field but the look makes him a cunt and he does sometimes on the field get a bit pissy with trying to humiliate opposition. Off the field he seems like a decent person and comes across extremely well in interviews. (probably should having had interview training since he was 14 or so)

Mole is out of his mind man, I don't see the reasoning behind his thoughts. It's so illogical it's amazing.

Mole, honestly why even try to have the discussion if that's your lousy arguments. I have no idea how the numbers add up and how financially they might have not made as much with him. But you look at their achievements over the last two years and thats bigger than Santos fans could wish for. They won a Libertadores, a Paulistao and reached another Libertadores semi and Paulista finals. Also I can't really say I know every financial details, but Santos had an average attendance of around 11 k with Neymar 5k more than without him over the last 2 years. If we look at the amount of games he played for santos it would be something like 40 home games over the last years x 5k x 50reais (20euros a ticket) + money for continental cup, image rights and so on. Financially saying no to €20m wasn't going to work for them as they'd earn more with him in the team in the next 12months. How anyone can try and make Santos look bad in this deal is beyond me.

    Players in public

Howard Webb, Viktor Kassai, Wolfgang Star, Brych the German Doctor, Jonas Eriksson, the turkish referee and some other referees sat all close to me on my flight from Frankfurt to Rio. Webb is quite big guy... Also Julio Cesar landed on a plane from London at the same time, but he was full up with trying to get his bag and just leave. Got mine first though, looked kinda pissed as I'd guess he would be flying First Class and his bags didn't arrive first.

Most of the brazilian outlets i'm reading are saying its 28m euros and apparently that will be split up between Santos and all the third parties etc etc with Santos getting a 13m split. When you consider the offers they were rejected 2 years back they look like a bit of a joke here tbh. If its all true of course but is suspect that it is as it seems quite widely reported. Yeah what a joke to win Libertadores which they hadn't done since the Pele era, to win another Paulistao add that to another final run and a semifinal run in the Libertadores. You have to see that the achievements Santos made was a lot built on Neymars great years. He hasn't had a good finish to 2012 or start to 2013 unfortunately but what he did prior to that was immense for Santos football club. Also the difference in income without Neymar is amazing, Vila Belmiro is almost empty and they get money for his image rights I think. Meaning Santos would've had to have sold for like €100m to even come close to what they have gained in the last two years with him. Am in Brazil now and was looking some sportsnews and apparently Neymar alone has gotten more than 30 players sent off in 4-5 years. Think last year he got something like 13 players sent off alone and this year in the Paulista already has 4 or something like that. Immense figures and most tbf came from pure last second touch away from the players as they came crashing into him. I think he will do well and I'm happy he's going to sit 2nd behind Messi up front, that will teach him a lot not being the star of the show all the time and I think Barcelona will be back to their best next season again in the Chamions League.

    Alan Pardew

Can't other than support the cunt now. At the end we support the club no matter who is in charge and who are the players. 95% of this forum wouldn't give up on the club even if they say they would if we played in League 1. The only problem with Pardew is that we won't develop as a club and will be exactly what the board wants, a stable lower mid-table team, although I would hope they would sack him if we're below midtable after half the season. I don't like the decision but I understand the club in the way they know fuck all about the sport and financially it's better just keeping him if we're not relegated. I do hope they realize Pardew needs help, get some more and experienced backroom staff, although i doubt anyone would really like to work under Alan. Anyways bring on the summer, bring on a need psychologist to the club to help Pardew develop his brain a bit more and bring on the next season, it just can't be worse than the shit we've seen this season. We were far worse side to look at than Stoke and I just can't imagine being that bad this coming season although I won't bring my hopes up.

That's just for 55% of the rights, though, the whole thing would go to 35m-40m which is a ridiculous amount for a player with 12 months left on his contract. From what I read it's €18m euros where Santos would get 55% of €18m so rougly €10m. Might be completely wrong but that was what was being written yesterday. Also apparently he told the goalkeeper of the other team yesterday 'That he can't stay anymore' when the goalkeeper asked him to stay in Brazil for a bit more. Also Santos want to replace him with Robinho. But €20m for his services seem very cheap especially as they'll earn more than €20m for him in the next 12 months Santos.

According to Brazilian newspapers meeting between Santos and Barcelona went terrible. Barcelona only offered appx. €18m for Neymar which was turned down. (the low offer is because in december/january he can sign a pre-contract with anyone) but at the same time Santos will earn more than €18m in the coming 12 months if he stays with the team from image rights and other incomes for the club. Weird situation and even weirder Barcelona put such a low offer considering they know Real might go for him.

For once I agree with the inane childish use of a smiley here. WTF man !! This is even worse Childish use? He was making a joke I believe. Did the fact that he said he was joking only two posts up point you in that direction. FFS.
  18. Have no idea how he's doing tbh. Looking around doesn't look like he's played a lot. There's Zizao (he's from China though) who plays for Corinthians. Decent Chinese player but obviously nowhere near good enough for the Brazilian league but still gets couple of games every now and then. Felipe Melo also seems heading back to Brazil and Sao Paulo, although his salary is looking like a possible stumbling block.

He's not that good of a footballer though tbh. Does score some goals and can be a good player on his day, but doesn't seem to be very convincing consistently. €1m still seems cheap like you said but might be do to contract things or something?

TBF to him though his defenders are the biggest pile of shit in the league. It's not a managers fault for individual mistake that they commit time and time again and while he most probably is responsible for assembling that pile of crap it's not down to him how much he can spend on players. Not saying he'd be an instant success, but his team plays good football and I'd like to see what he can do at a bigger club.
