Don’t get me wrong, I think he did a very good job last season, but it wasn’t miraculous. We have a midfield of Italian and Brazilian internationals, the starting RW for England, one of the best young strikers in the world, two of the brightest young full backs in the league, a La Liga winner, settled CBs and a few other players who aren’t too shabby. We really should be finishing above Forest, Brighton and the others chasing Europe regardless. We did very well, but it wasn’t a miracle.

In the league, with our squad, it was about par. Man Utd and Spurs were horrendous and Villa (with a better squad) had 12 CL games.

It’s not overpaying. It’s the going rate. Value is only what people are prepared to pay. There’s not a catalogue with prices in. It’s becoming a bit frustrating this. There’s now a decent length list of targets that are going elsewhere and a couple of low ball bids for Trafford and Elanga to clubs who don’t need to sell. I’d be far more confident if we hadn’t had the Guehi shambles last summer (another on our target list this summer going elsewhere). From the outside, there doesn’t seem to be much homework done and it doesn’t inspire much confidence if we end up scrambling around for players who know they’re well down our list of targets.

Really chuffed with this signing. Could be our keeper for the next decade or so.

Journalists usually do feed on information from each other tbf. I doubt any of them have much inside knowledge unless an agent is trying to plant stuff through them.

I doubt we’re going to get a player with such a high ceiling, who doesn’t have something about them turning off the usual suspects. He’s only 21 and his two longer periods of injury were completely separate parts of the body. Tino hasn’t done too badly.

You do realise almost every club in the world sells their best players every once in a while. I’m not sure why some think we’d be the exception. Eales has already said we’ll do it.

I don’t want Rashford, but players seem to be leaving them and excelling now compared to what they’ve been doing there. A bit different to the past where players were dropping down. I’m not sure they have many players you’d actually want though. Mainoo? Garnacho might improve somewhere.

If we’re signing him, we should be playing in straight away imo. If the idea is to have someone better with the ball on the floor to help change the way we play, then he’d be better playing before we get into September when there’s barely any time on the training ground with two games a week.

He’s on the ‘High Performance’ podcasts today. Lasted a couple of minutes and it went off. His patter was absolutely reeking! Jake going on like he’d single handedly save Everton too.

I’m not sure it’s hard to see happening.

They’ve not made any secret of saying that they’d be needing to trade and sell players to keep building.

I wouldn’t be too upset with Gordon going if we seemed to have a clue how to sign anyone.

Can’t say I’m that arsed about him personally, but it would be nice to see something move at our end soon. I just want to be confident we know what we’re doing in the market after 2 years of nothing and the Guehi shambles.
