A standard player for a club looking to achieve 12th to 17th. A dependable try hard with little quality.
-
I think that's supposed to be a supportive article of him, but all it does is depress me and wind me up.
-
He doesn't even spend any money on the club as its self-sufficient. The club spends what it makes and he just owns it. The only time he's put money in over recent years was when we got relegated and he added it to the debt to him. Tbh, I'm quite happy with the club being self-sufficient, its the fact he doesn't allow it to grow, never mind reach its potential.

In the light of the failed takeover- are you going back to games, in the future

Qatar didn't buy Man City. People keep saying this on phone ins too. -
Not in the slightest. Not blaming him for anything other than neglecting checking on his sources. In this case Amanda has told him things and he's put them out there without checking if they are true or not....at least not that anyone can see If he's going to be publishing stuff with regard to the take over of course he should have been digging deeper to confirm what he's been told, and not look like Staveley's lapdog mouthpiece You're point is still nonsense. Regularly a journalist will report what a source says without having to go and check if what they say is true or not. There are plenty of stories which simply report, for example, what Boris Johnson says about something. His comments still get reported by journalists whether hes talking shit or not.

Unfortunately it's a low bar. A really proper good journalist wouldn't rely on a single source, or would at least do the leg work investigating what his source had told him. George doesn't, he reports what he's told to report. It's a shame he's been reporting what we wanted to hear, but surely he should have been banging on the Reubens door to confirm, or talking to someone from PIF too. Not too say he hasn't been trying, but just spouting whatever Staveley has told him is pretty weak, and not too different to tabloids. That's bollocks tbf. He reported what he was being told, and said as much. He didn't make any bold predictions either way. It's not the job of every journalist to analyse the whole deal at all points. Why's it Bollocks? Never said anything about predictions at all or analysing the details of a deal. Just saying that a journalist should follow up on what they're being told is true before reporting it. If i were a journalist and was told from a trusted source that Donald Trump was actually a replicant from the future, I think i'd want first hand confirmation or evidence from second source before putting it in my paper. Not really. If I was a journalist and say, someone close to Joe Biden told me that, of course I'd report it. There's nothing wrong with reporting what a source tells you without delivering an opinion on it whether you think its ridiculous or not.

Stopped last summer. The only game I've been to under Bruce was at Hibs as I can literally see the Easter Road from my flat. -
Edwards was ridiculous on that podcast. Bizarrely trying to push through that Bruce had improved Lascelles over the course of the season.

There's a lot to criticise Saudi over, but the banning of BEin is hardly a scandal. Why should any country be forced to be part of region-wide broadcasting deals? From what I read, BEin have/had the rights for multiple sports across the region including international football, NBA, tennis and Formula 1. Not only that, it looks like they seemed to be throwing entertainment in as part of their package. Imagine that was happening in Europe and a French or German company were controlling all of that. Assuming this is the case, I see absolutely no reason why any country shouldn't seek to take action to stop the company broadcasting. It's like the NFL forcing Brits to subscribe to a German subscription service that is expensive and encompasses a whole range of other sports and entertainment shows and films that British broadcasting companies like Sky, the BBC or BT would otherwise seek to get and buy themselves. What's the point in a Saudi broadcasting company trying to buy other rights or access to entertainment already being shown on BEin.

The over the top defence of him and total exaggeration of the job he has done from pundits hasn't done Bruce any good with the support, even if they think it has.

Well that's very strange if the takeover is still on. Which if this news is anything to go by it may not be. All the news from the last week has been ominous, despite a section of fans wanting to spin anything as a positive. What news in the last week?
-
How? Don't see how the PL would be happy with this If they are getting rid of piracy and then getting new investment with a new deal, then I would say they would be happy with that. But they can’t legally get a new deal until the end of next season. Not if they have legally extracted their country from the regional territory, we can't comment on the legalities as we don't know them. Going to have to wait for more information to come out. Surely Bein can't pay the PL for rights for the whole region and then half way through the contract, suddenly the PL sell rights for one of those countries to a different network? It might have no bearing on the takeover but I can't see it being a positive I've no idea, but maybe Saudi have paid the PL to go their own way?

The hyperbolic shite that spews from your fingertips is no better than any of the theories presented here tbf. Reality is, Masters got told off on a live stream because of the way they didn't plan for Liverpool fans congregating at Anfield after they won. This is a fact. Whether he and his team could have done anything about it is irrelevant. The optics were bad for him. He will not want that to happen again. Newcastle Council will not want a mass gathering when/if this goes ahead. The best they can mitigate that is to at least plan ahead and assume if they wait till the season ends, there possibly maybe a subset of fans who are no longer as concerned about football as as when the season was running. They may celebrate at home as oppose to coming to the ground. Whether that is true or not is not really the point. They cover their arses by putting that forward as a potential reduction in risk. But continue your belief that councils/governments don't give a shit about the optics of huge mass gatherings and will just say, 'nah, announce whenever you desire. It's only a little flu, no one really gives a shit'. I also never said the pl are 'stopping' them announcing. They can work with the PL/local council to make the announcement as least impactful as possible. On the last point. Can someone tell me what SD share price has to do with the sale of Newcastle United? Are St.James Holdings shares linked in any way to SD? SJH is a private company so shares can be shifted at any point without fear of insider trading can't they? Honest question. Are you seriously suggesting people are going to gather at SJP to celebrate a takeover?! haha

I find it a bit bizarre how we're all supposed to have this big moral objection over the takeover, but so many other things are ignored. It's not whataboutary either as this is just being picked at because it's high profile. It's pennies compared to some of their other recent investments. I'm sitting typing here on my Huawei laptop, 6 months after travelling on Qatar Airlines to the far east where I gave plenty money to the communist regime in Laos. Who knows how much environmental damage is being done by the companies who own the petrol stations which fuel my car, or me flying tbf. I'm sure I consume lots or palm oil too, unfortunately. Saudi Arabia was barely an issue before the election in December, never mind some of the other stuff. We're talking about China when it comes to 5G, but ignoring the muslim concentration camps. I'm not saying any of these things are right, and personally I would love the world to be heading in the right direction on human rights, the environment, selling weapons and all those things. If anything, I'd think Saudi is MORE likely to head in the right direction as it modernises and becomes more open to the rest of the world.
-
Unless the takeover happens, he will leave at some point in the next 12-18 months. The club is sold to agents and players as a stepping stone.
-
Saudi Arabia seem to be modernising and hopefully becoming more open to the rest of the world and with their 2030 thing, the more focus on the country will lead to some positive change. They aren't going to receive praise from me, but I'm not going to be expressing outrage at every possible opportunity when most of the people demanding it said absolutely nothing about Saudi Arabia pre-election in December.

Nicholson is an attention seeker. He'll be all over it.
