I can confirm that, came straight here to get more news but.. well there's nowt.
-
What would you have thought if thel looked miserable and depressed? I seriously doubt they're laughing at the fact they're in the championship.
-
Good one, much more entertaining being as it's so relevant. NE5 might even give a little chuckle?
-
Didn't understand that bit, why would Harris care? Or did he mean Ashley, and why would he care?
-
SBR wasn't, and all too frequently the manager was undermined by having players bought and sold. As far as I can see (remember) Freddy picked the managers but could never quite let go and let them actually manage. That said, he could well have a good working relationship with Shearer. Don't know though.
-
FFS, how much did he get selling his shares, 50 something million for 43% - now he might get the whole club for 60 mil. You couldn't make it up.
-
There's one poit of view from where that would seem to be most irrational. If you're buying a business that you wish to run you'd rather want to have it in as good condition as possible, not run down and in a state of disrepair that it would cost considerable finance to get it up and running again. More so where that business is a football club that operates on different timescales to ordinary business - I would have thought.

FFS! I just got back from a week in Scotland where I had zero internet, never looked at a newspaper or saw a TV - was hoping to come back to loads of good news and celebrations. Ashley is the worst thing that ever happened to this football club, and I'm a normally sensible poster that doesn't make kneejerk posts. This decision to NOT appoint a manager during this relegation and subsequent chaos and confusion is the biggest mistake in a long line of mistakes. About the only thing I can think he's done well in hindsight is getting some promising youths in - something any club of our size should have always been doing anyway.
-
Yeah, when he'd been at the club all of 5 minutes so he only had existing contracts to use as a guideline. Unlikely he made ridiculous errors in this area, despite people's willingness to condemn him for all the problems in the world.

You do know we're talking about Bassong here?
-
Decision making, because it encompasses everything else.
-
I still remember the feeling when I heard, felt like I'd been punched in the stomach and I wanted to be sick.
-
This latest decision by Ashley to NOT appoint a manager - is it the biggest fuck up he's made to date considering the massive negative impact it has on next season? Is he really so ignorant of football that he does not comprehend the ramifications of this decision?

Example of getting something spot on needed. (/Wiki)

Can't believe I've done this but, I've actually voted Shepherd!
-
After having slept on it - if Shepherd is part of a consortium he could turn out to be a bit of a saviour this time round. Even as chairman he would not have the power SJH handed to him by sitting back and leaving it in his hands. He'll be answerable to others and their financial input as well as his own, he'll be a front man for a group and have a vested interest in not fucking up. As usual it is the optimist in me talking, but it might be a blessing in disguise.
-
IF he's learnt anything then yes, ok; if not he's just another disaster in waiting. Hard to see Shearer and Shepherd lasting the distance though. Shepherd once called Shearer a 'Mary Poppins', I'm sure you all remember, but nothing could have been further from the truth and it only served to confirm Shepherd's naivety and crassness. Personally can't see a Shepherd/Shearer partnership lasting more than 2 or 3 seasons unless everything is going very well on the pitch.

I had to say none. Would like to keep Enrique and probably Martins, but I wouldn't be gutted!
-
Who are they?
-
You would hope so wouldn't you. But given his track record - some of the mind-boggling decisions he's already made, you can't put it past him. Furthermore, why employ First Direct with a brief to offload anyone to interested parties, apart from the obvious lightening of the wagebill, when any prospective new owners have a vested interest in those very same assets. It's true that with every sold player the club devalues proportionally, but can you really see Ashley saying "The price is £100m and there is currently £23m available in transfer funds from players already sold." One of the worst part of Ashleys entire tenure has been the lack of communication with fans, and now, at a time when we all want to know more than anything what is happenig to our club, the silence is once again deafening.

Think this is just free exposure for the Profit Group, been all through their website, (which is naff btw), and there doesn't seem to be any real substance to it. If their foremost aim is to make money for their clients, and doing so primarily by investing in property, NUFC shouldn't even be appearing on their radar.

Every little bit of news (rumour) about the club in the preceding fortnight had been tragic, so it's nice to read this today. Fingers crossed there's an upturn in our fortunes/luck on its way.
