  1. Owen's knee getting a good workout there. http://i18.tinypic.com/54mdo2t.jpg And standing up to the strain well! Wonder if he'll score against the 'pool, certainly put enough past us when playing for them.
  2. Maybe we should chat about who we wouldn't have as Captain, narrow it down that way until there's only one man standing. I wouldn't have Butt, Owen or Given; those three are nailed on no-canditates for me. ( I used to think Butt could be a good captain but he's not communicative enough and often his body language is negative if things go wrong.)
  3. If I was a mod I'd have locked the thread as the topic already exists. Thread locking seems to sporadically follow rules and then emotions, then rules again.
  4. You do lose leg muscle when someone fires a gun behind you and you run 37 miles without stopping.
  5. Sam has no problem trying to buy injured players, allegedly.
  6. Him signing a new 'clauseless' contract is the only statement I want to hear from him now.
  7. does she look like she works? On her back, aye.
  8. Just another viewpoint, somewhat exaggerated to pass as a good story for whatever audience might enjoy reading it. Not diificult to see some underlying truths in it. I don't let it bother me but content myself in the fact that they are discussing an historical Newcastle that doesn't exist anymore. Maintain faith in the undergoing transfomation that is happening and think of the potential Newcastle of the future instead of letting this bother you.
  9. Court case begins today or tomorrow in Bangkok, regarding the sale of a piece of prime land in Bangkok which Thaksin's wife purchased for approximately one third of it's value. Prosecution claiming corruption as Thaksin, as then Prime Minister, must have influenced the low price. If he is found guilty of corruption then the league's 'Fit and proper person' Test should fail according to their rules regarding corruption charges, which apparently count for overseas courts decisions also.. If found guilty it will be interesting to see Thaksin surviving this and thereby implementing the league as corrupt also.
  10. Where does that leave Wor Joey? Surprised someone hasn't got the new line-up in here already.
  11. BBC Article He never got a real run here, and probably wouldn't have made the ultimate grade, but he seems to have flourished as a regular player in the championship. In short the article says a 3m bid has been rejected but no club is named, then goes on to compare Chopra's performances last season to Nugents who is valued at 7m.
  12. Can't believe this thread has reached 8 pages already. Read the article again, especially this bit.. And that will possibly include the arrival of a big-name player that will stun the soccer world. There is no quote, it 100% speculative bullshit and if anyone had said this do you not think they would be quoted. It sounds like something Freddy would have said and, if he had, we would be telling him to shut-up. There are people in this thread convinced this is something that came from Mort.
  13. In 8 more days Allardyce will have been in the job for 2 months, in that first month a takeover must have hindered plans somewhat. Since then he's brought in four players that arguably improve our squad considerably, though reservations can be held over Roz as no-one has seen him play more than a couple of games and he's new to the premiership. A backroom staff is in the process of forming the likes of which has never been seen at this club. On the run to Xmas Sam will identify anyone who is not fitting in to his plan and they'll be shipped out in January. So after January expect the best team spirit since the Keegan years. I don't think anyone has cause for complaint, though concerns are perhaps a different matter. It's very early days and when you compare the transfer activity under Allardyce and the previous incumbent it's a little like revelation. Lastly, I think the journo that penned "Ashley to stun the football world" was in fantasy land after some mushrooms when he wrote the story. It's a total fabrication born of two rumours, the 250m over 5 seasons and the 50m transfer kitty. I pray I live to see the day when papers are held accountable for everything they print, some of the rags will go out of business in weeks.

    Newcastle Survey

What was wrong with question 7? More or less likely to attend a televised match..
  15. I think of him as a right midfielder first and foremost who can do a decent job at the back.

    Roeder v Fat Sam

    Waddle keeps talking crap.

    Chris Mort speaks

He said jack-s*** basically, and what was with that sound! Had to turn the volume down for Chris Hope and up for Mort. Cameraman thinks he's doiing adverts for Calvin Klein spec frames and psychological profiling with the hand tapping on the desk. He talks with Sam every day near enough as ultimately he sanctions transfers, and seeing as he sanctioned Joey Barton I can't see too many stumbling blocks to Sam's plans. I'd say atm they have faith in Big Sam and couldn't help but wonder if Ashley only moved like a tank to take over the club as soon as Allardyce was named new manager.

    Roeder v Fat Sam

Don't see how this can be taken out of context.. "It's a sad excuse for Sam to ask the fans to be patient while he builds the team for the next five years," Roeder said. Roeder is clearly feeling a bit bitter, and unfortunately also shows he understands the fans no better now than when he started the job.
