  1. The future's bright........ the future's orange black 'n' white.
  2. That's Shearer replaced then, good bit of business imo. Now, didn't we need some defenders? If we an get anywhere near the quality of an Owen/Viduka partnership in defence it will be a mouth watering prospect
  3. I remember Allardyce saying you had to have players that could play at St James', indicating it was a special place and to play in front of 50,000 took a certain type of player. Parker, for all his abilities, pretty much proved he wasn't that type of player and I'm sure that's why Allardyce made only a token effort to keep him. (for WestHamSam)You'll almost certainly see a better player than we saw up here in the last season, as HTT said he was much better in the beginning when given just one task to do. No reason why Curbishley cannot revitalise him. You've neither waster your money nor got a bargain.[/i])
  4. And so dawns a new chapter in the ongoing saga.... ..let's hope it's a bright and cheery one for years to come.

    Club Captain

It'll be the new boy from Citeh.
  6. Perhaps with the current takeover hanging over the club the only funds Allardyce can spend at this exact moment are those raised by selling players? In a week or two or three he'll have access to a proper transfer fund maybe.
  7. Always thought Dein was a Gooner first and foremost; however maybe he's just like anyone else, and when one job doesn't work out he goes and gets another one.
  8. On the subject of Lareya Kingston, I asked a mate up at Tynecastle if he knew anything.. here's his response. Larry will be signed by Hearts...100% However after that, who knows? He is on the same deal that we had Rudi Skacel on, pre-arranged so even if Kingston doesn`t want to sign (as was the case with Skacel) he`s got no say in the matter. As you probably know, we signed Skacel against his wishes for a pre-arranged fee then sold him onto Southampton at more than double the fee, so if Larry is to end up elsewhere, any buying club will have to meet Hearts fee. Hopefully he stays at Tynie though,....The guy`s a genuine class act. Just another piece of gossip if you like.
  9. Newcastle want Manchester City's Joey Barton and are prepared to let fellow midfielder Scott Parker move to West Ham for £8m. (Daily Mirror) Been printed before... last week sometime iirc.
  10. Another exciting possibility is that, when we do sell players in the future, we could be selling for 5 million having paid 500k instead of selling for 3.5m having paid 8m or letting go for nowt when they cost 5m
  11. Given the current uncertainty over Ashleys plans for the next 5 years I wouldn't be too quick to laugh at Chelseas position as we could find ourselves in similar 5 years hence. PS. Is it just me that thinks Terry and Lampard looking for more money is absolutely obscene?
  12. Next season going to verify wether he's got a dodgy ticker if you ask me.
  13. He's a bit out of touch with the supporters like, thought 'they would never boo Dyer'.
  14. Fantastic signing imo if it came off. Just what the front line needs.
  15. That's shocking, I'd completely forgotten about Jinky. Aye he was skillful and then some.
  16. Considering the animosity Whelan has for Ashley I can't see us signing any Wigan players unless through the nose.
  17. I got to the point with Waddle where I expected him to trip over the ball was just as likely as anything else. Hardly an exciting expectation. Ginola had far more range, Waddle just had a shoulder dip.. mind you it was almost uncanny how often it worked.
  18. Page 2 and no-one mentioned Tony Green yet! My original favourite was Terry Hibbet, but I knew nought then really. Macdonald was impressive on one of his runs. (Like a steam train on bandy legs, no finesse.. pure power and determination.) I think Ginola probably conjured it up enough to always have an air of expectation about him whenever he got the ball. Beardsley was amazing too. EDIT: Sods Law

Allardyce said: "It's important we recruit the best players possible and make sure we are not always looking for the big names all the time, as Newcastle have done in the past. "There are very talented players outside this country who want to prove themselves in the Premiership." Think that was said yesterday actually but the next bit... Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd said he was ready to back Allardyce's recruitment drive, although he would not commit himself on the level of funding for it. Shepherd said: "I think four or five players would be the top end of what we would try and get to resolve some of the problems that happened last year. "There are obviously some resources there to bolster the squad. "You have never heard any manager at Newcastle saying we have never backed them." I hope he never said any of this, he wasn't doing public speaking yesterday due to fractured rib, I'm going to assume it's still bad and these are rehashed quotes and soundbites.
  20. They signed Duff.. ..his father died.. they sold Boumsong... his world turned upside down in the space of a short time. I don't know, maybe he turned to Dyer for advice and now it's not only upside down but completely fucked up too. One things for sure, he won't have had the support a young foreign player at a new club needs as there is no support network. Soon will be though.

    Todays Gossip

Was just thinking myself, 'is he a Sam-type player', as I read that list. Could well be a target. Hope so.
  22. I've felt Butt should have been given the armband a couple of months ago tbh, I'm pretty sure Allardyce will want to keep Butt and could well make him captain if no-one else comes in.
  23. The last two appointments brought nothing but negative feelings, this one is definitley the opposite. Biggest concern is can Shepherd stay the fuck out of the way and let the manager get on with it.
  24. As far as I know, but perhaps it can be cancelled.
