In your opinion, you're wrong though IMO. But just so we don't get hung up on what a "quality Footballer" actually is. Lets just say Owen could drop out of the box, control the ball well, keep it and link up with others. Something I'd be amazed to see Bent do. By the way I don't have any problem with Bent. He might be a lovely bloke, and to repeat myself for the millionth time he's a class finisher and for the right club he'd be a good buy. But he basically offers 0 outside the area, in fact he offers zero in the area appart from finishing chances others create for him. Do you disagree with that?

No mate, we're talking about Owen not Bent. If you reckon Owen couldn't play you mustn't have watched him very closely. He was primarily a poacher, and did spend most of his time in that role, but when he did venture out of the box he could certainly play and did so for us. I actually remember times when people here were surprised at his quality on the ball because they'd been under the impression he was nothing but a poacher. Bent on the other hand really doesn't have anything else to his game IMO.

Owen was nowt like Bent though, he was a quality Footballer for a start, despite how much most of us hate him.

That's not how a buying club will look at it if he's got a year left. Otherwise we'd never have sold Enrique for £5m. OM will want more but they'll be bricking it that he stays and sees out his contract and they get no thing . We sold Enrique because he wanted to leave. There's always a premium on strikers. Certainly seems Gomis wants to leave considering he's refused every contract they've offered him. The premium for strikers is the reason I wouldn't expect to pay less for Gomis than we sold Enrique for, because he's certainly not as good a player. If he had time left on his contract or didn't want to go 10m Euros might be reasonable because of that premium, as it is 6-7m euros is the best they can expect IMO.

Not a chance we've offered £8.5m for Gomis with only one year left and him refusing their final contract offer.

We obviously completely disagree on Simpson, he's ok as backup if we absolutely have to play him, but a constant and glaring weakness in the side when he was playing every week. Like you say we've got more than enough players to cover their so I'm not sure how you can laugh at the idea that he doesn't really count as a loss, how can we say "4 out none in" if some of the 4 out are players we ourselves admit aren't useful and don't need to be replaced.
-
Still senior players we are losing, Simpson was still a capable squad player behind Debuchy. Perch was ok'ish, Harper still a senior keeper albeit extremely average, Gosling agreed terrible Harper was third choice keeper and could move to fourth choice anytime now with younger keepers coming through. Simpson counts as a senior player of course, but not a loss IMO, but then I detest him more than some, and of course Perch is a useful squad player but I'd much rather see players like Anita and Bigiramana given a chance instead.
-
Are we replaying last season next season then? We've signed players since than you know, if we'd had Debuchy and Yanga-Mbiwa from the start of last season how many games do you think Simpson would have gotten.
-
I wouldn't compare Gosling to Harper or Simpson tbh. Although i do think we are well covered in those positions without needing to sign replacements. As said as it stands winger and a striker would do me. I wouldn't compare their Newcastle careers, but as far as usefulness Harper would see no more action than Gosling next season and Simpson not much more.
-
How can anyone count Harper or Gosling when talking about players out?, you might as well count Kemen as an in in that case.. even Simpson is difficult to count. Perch is the only real player we've lost.
-
Even if his head wasn't turned he'd be pushed out the door in a shot if someone put down £15m. Pards has already said we are overloaded in midfield. I think he was thinking more of selling Gosling than Cabaye like. Yep, also utter bollocks that we'd be rushing to accept the first offer, whether his head is turned or not.
-
That really depends how long the deal is, as in is it €100m per season or €100m over 5 years, 6 years ect. EDIT: Didn't notice the article above, that retroactive deal is clearly bollocks, so either UEFA ban PSG for the 2014/15 Champions League competition or they may as well give up on FFP now.

Di Canio's brought in 9 players and he's still saying they really need more signings, how many did this looney sign at Swindon again?
-
Are you seriously telling me you think Darren Bent's worth £8m? Maybe for the right club I suppose.
-
I personally think it'd be all three or similar if we lose Cisse. Maybe i'm an optimist though. Two of those if Cisse stays and if he leaves we've got Cardozo lined up, believe

Why is he always going on loan every transfer window?

Was claimed we'd agreed that fee in one of the local papers AFAIR. Our locals or theirs? Ours unfortunately.

£6.9m - £8.6m, the man's pissed. I suppose he's just trying to get as much as possible, but he'd be extremely fortunate to get a fee that even approaches the lower estimate.
-
They're talking shit like, got to be, he's got one year left and refused their final contract offer. They'd have pissed their pants with joy if we'd offered even 10m euros, never mind asking for more.

Cardozo looked a very good player. Even if Cisse left, if we brought in Gomis, Remy and Cardozo I'd be ecstatic. I know it sounds far fetched like but just saying
