You're defending his position pretty strongly and basically saying its understandable for him to demand that extra cash but not for us to refuse to pay it. So from that I infered that you think we're more in the wrong for this deal not going through than Aulas is, hardly a leap like.
-
Don't you think we ended up with a pretty fair offer, by media accounts? Probably yes for me but evidently not in his (the only one that actually matters) eyes. If it's all true (it may not be) and if it comes down to £400k allegedly when the alleged initial bid has near increased suggests to me that neither side wants to seen to be losing face though at the expense of all else. From his position I can understand that more than ours who allegedly 'want' the player. He asked for 10m euros, we increased our offer to 10m euros, the offer was accepted and that should have been that. Now he wants us to pay what they owe another club on top and you reckon its us who are in the wrong? He's the one pissing about and if he ends up with fuck all he's got nobody to blame but himself.

I think he will sign for OM before deadline day Seems very unlikely.

We've let go of a third choice goal keeper, a right back we've already replaced that rightly now plays in the Championship and a bit part midfielder. He's the only one I'll even slightly miss, but only because he was a likeable lad who gave his all, wont miss him always getting in the side ahead of Anit and Bigi. We've brought in a top striker and the fact he's initially on loan makes no difference to how much he could improve our team. Now we need another striker and winger and surely we should be able to afford that without having to rely on next June's improved TV deal? If they dont go out and get those players they've missed yet another opportunity.

It was SSN, the presenter said ''a fee in the region of £8m''.
-
West Ham paying £8m for Downing apparently

Sky Sports News saying Aulas has told them he's determined to keep Gomis, aye good luck with that dick head This fucker is either schitzo, has A.D.D or just likes to say as many contradictory things as possible to try to confuse people into giving him money. I'm not sure if he's thick as fuck, a genius or insane at this point

I'm honestly not sure if that's better or worse, can't be worse?

JFK getting appointed would probably trim the member numbers at least. it would for a united front of hatred It would also mean one down and only one to go, because once Kinnear's gone it would surely be impossible to not bring in a better manager than him or Pardew, right?

It won't be enough to get us 5th. Based on last year there's too many players flattering to deceive whereas in the 5th season everyone played their part. The top 5 is pretty much a closed shop now but that doesn't mean our players who 'flatter to deceive' haven't already shown they have a higher ceiling than players like Nolan and Barton who will never manage it and given both are 31 this year they aren't likely to improve. The new players did well for a few weeks then became spineless bottlers who clearly couldn't give a shit. I have nothing else to go on to suggest they'll be any different this year if things aren't going well Or maybe they did well initially playing the football the way had previously been coached, and then struggled once they tried to fit into Pardew's static, defensive lines and weird square pegs in round holes formations? That only explains so much. I can't blame lack of effort and lack of basic footballing skills on tactics. It explains a lot IMO, almost every player for us could be accused of looking like they lacked effort and basic skills in certain games last season (in some games almost every player at the same time). That includes about 90% of the players who helped us finished 5th by all pulling their weight the season before. So during January basically every player we have is looking like a bottler (despite looking like winners the season before) and just coincidentally every player we sign that month is a bottler? Isn't it more reasonable to think that those players, just like the players who helped us finish 5th the season before, were simply struggling to play in a fundamentally tactically flawed side with morale through the floor?

Fucking hell. As if that's really his gut man..

He needs to start with his tosser of an agent. The blokes greed is astonishing. Unfortunately it doesn't astonish me, they're all greedy twats and it seems like a lot of the time they make the decisions rather than the player, which is ludicrous.

Hasnt he already turned down their contract offers? Definitely cant see him staying for the same wage with all the bad blood going around and the possibility of a lucritive free transfer coming up soon. Also with the new tax system coming up I cant see how Lyon could afford to offer him even the same he's on now after tax. Nah staying just doesnt seem like an option, Lyon cant afford to keep him unless he signs a new contract and I'd be amazed if he's prepared to do that. The fact they've brought in 6m euros wont change anything either. Keeping him without a new contract would still mean theyd effectively be paying around 14m euros to keep him for one more season (giving up the 10m euro fee and paying him his 3-4m euro wage).
-
That may end up being the case, but I'm not sure how he can be so confident of that, I doubt he knows us inside out. My own view is that if something big doesn't happen elsewhere on this deal in the next week he'll panic and come back to us.
-
Apparently our offer was £8.6m (£7m plus £1.6m in addons). So if he's waiting for another bidder to offer that plus 5% extra to pay St Etienne (£9m total) for a player who'll be able to sign a pre-contract for a free transfer in 6 months time then I think he's waiting in vein personally.

Same thing applies to any good finisher, but the difference is Cisse can also score some goals without help (unlike Bent) and is 1 and a half years younger.
-
Sissoko has some power when he drives forward, when used in the correct position/setup anyway. We could certainly do with some more, like a striker with power and aerial ability (preferably someone who's also decent on the ground like Gomis). But I agree with AlanSkärare that our biggest weakness by far isn't the quality of our players but the quality of our manager. Also Pardew has no idea what's going on and talks shit, so I don't even bother reading his comments let alone putting any stock in them.
-
If they do it won't be because they signed Stewart Downing, it'll be because we have Alan Pardew.
-
Gomis could also provide an outlet, hold the ball up and also come deep and link play better than Cisse and far better than Bent. That in itself could help us create by helping us keep possession and allowing our midfield to push up a bit (if Pardew allows it...).

Having his medical at West Ham, I can finally relax. I know its looked pretty clear for a few days now that we most likely weren't really after him, but at least this ends the possibility
-
What are you on about man? We've put in various offers until we've finally got a fee agreed. We've then agreed terms with the player and the only thing stopping it is complications on Lyons side and agents demands. Unless you've re-written the definition of "at least we tried" than no its nowt like it at all. As per usual we're not interested in buying players for their real value. We love a bargain, but I'm not sure what that has to do with my post. Also to be honest IMO £8m is above his value considering his contract situation, I never thought we'd offer that amount.
-
come on that doesn't mean its anymore chance of him coming to nufc. This Aulas is the one thats stopping this transfer. Well he's not staying at Lyon. If its really him stopping the transfer because he wants us to pay certain extra fees then its only a matter of time before he folds. Especially if Marseille aren't an option this summer. There's no advantage for him to keep Gomis in this situation, as the closer they get to the close of the window the closer they get to losing him for nothing. He's got a great offer right there and if its just coming down to a dispute on agent/ex club payments then there will come a time when he'll have to compromise. As far as Marseille goes I'm not sure how they could be a serious option for Gomis unless he's really desperate to play for them. Apparently they can't afford him so they'd need him to dig in for a season at a club where he's not going to play leading up to the world cup. Then this 75 percent tax would mean he'd have to take a massive pay cut from what he's getting now (or what he'd get here).
-
Some Journalistic license there from Douglas like, at no point in those quotes does Sissoko say he's desperate. Just that he wants to come, but I suppose some persuasion may be reeded to get him to push for the move more.

If I could stand cricket I might as well, unfortunately I'm stuck with Wigan vs Manure as my Sunday entertainment.
