You can only judge by results, and the results hardly portray them as world beaters. The opposite, actually. Agree 150% that Pardew is the problem, and he'd make a team featuring the likes of Ronaldo, Messi, Rooney and Bale into relegation candidates, but the players are NOT without blame HBA has gone backover IMHO There are plenty of levels between shit and world beater though. Also don't see how Ben Arfa's gone backwards. Of course at the end of last season he didn't have the same spring in his step as usual (though in plenty of games he still regularly beat numerous players), but that comes down to fitness following injury. If he's still not back to his old self a few games into the season then I might worry.

Malmo just about define the term toothless. Also Bony looks very clumbsy.

I would take real Rolls Royce signings like a Berbatov over that age limit. But generally, i'd stay away. I want us to sign players who will get better. The problem is that the players we sign never seem to get better, most clearly get worse, in fact it's difficult to think of any player recently who has improved. Maybe Ba? Our coaching as a team and for players individually is appalling. Still most of them are now so shit that nobody wants to buy them, that's the upside. Enrique improved here, but on the most part players seem to hit the ground running (even better then they were before joining at times) but then slowly go barkwards (Ben Arfa hasn't IMO but most seem to). I put it down to Pardews tactics/training slowly sapping them of all hope.. Having said that I can't agree that most of them are now shit, I think that's knee jerk sensationalism, and I'm sure plenty of clubs still want the likes of Cabaye but maybe not at the price we're quoting.

http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/newcastle-united-dismiss-talk-of-scott-sinclair-transfer-via-mike-ashleys-news-service/ Thought it was. Jokers! Exclusively deny any interest... then exclusively reveal we are lining up a bid They wrote a story denying that Sinclair was on the verge of signing for Newcastle at the time AFAIR. Doesn't mean they can't then write a story about an interest in the player. The two stories don't conflict at all so I don't see the problem.

Ah I see it, Premier League Guide first and then Premier League Countdown straight afterwards.
-
So whens this advisory program on then?, could be amusing

Signed for Qatari club Al-Gharafa which probably means they will try to get Gomis to sign a new contract then. Good luck with that Lyon

BIG MAC LOL Drinking on a Wednesday?

Despite what the article may allude to, Jonas isn't saying anything about Remy needing to prove himself to replace him. He's just talking about the striker position. I'm sure he's simply been asked what he thinks of Remy and if he'll go straight into the side up front.
-
Gignac probably?, don't fancy him much as a player and certainly not at the price being talked about (over 12m Euro's AFAIR).
-
He did ok, he's not a top player though.
-
Downings a top, top player then?

There's every reason to think it will still happen. Most of the deal is agreed and as the window closes something will have to give, most likely from Lyon. Right now they stand to lose £8.6m if he's still there at the start of September, as he'll almost definitely leave for nothing a year later (or at most they may get a couple of million for him in January). Even if the agent wants £1m off them are they really going to not pay it and lose the other £7.6m? I can't see anyone offering the same fee we have plus agreeing to pay a ridiculous agents fee either, so I think we can afford to wait it out.
-
6.2m? Sack that. He's definitely not kept his value. Anyway, no way we'll offer even half his current wage. Unless he's a surprisingly honourable footballer (lol) then he'll keep his wage and sit in the reserves, the wanker. Wouldn't say that like, I think their's every chance we could offer him a wage in the 30-40k range. I mean I don't think we'd see him as some kind of average backup player like Simpson who isn't deserving of anything over 20k.

Personally dont buy this bringing signings forward to January, purely because they should have been done the summer before. It was patently clear we needed players then and the neglect shown imo was shocking. By bringing them forward to January, they club are effectively admitting they had no intention of recruiting for a whole season excluding Anita, which is criminal when you think about it. Not really no, just means we had no intention of signing Gouffran, Yanga-Mbiwa and Sissoko that season. That doesnt mean we werent looking to sign other plays that summer with those three lined up for this summer, before bringing them forward to January. Cost nearly £10m to get those three six months early BTW.

His goal scoring certainly isnt inconsistent, also apparently the backup is Darren Bent.
-
Apparently Bent is Pardews favoured option, wouldnt surprise me if Downing is as well
-
Gomis a slow version of Cisse?? Not only is he a different kind of striker to Cisse, but he's also not slower. Thorin, just because they both tend to play up front alone that doesn't make them the same kind of strikers. One is a poacher, the other is a target man who brings others into play, they're both goal scorers of course. They're two different players, which is why they'd give us different options.
-
Do you think its decent vs £8m for Ince though?
-
Dunno where thats from, last two seasons in the league he's got: 71 games 3 goals 5 assists Pretty much identical to Downing. How many assists does Downing have in his last 50 games? I bet it's more than zero. Are you sure though? I have no idea, but if you're both right that means Gutierrez got 5 assists in 21 games and then 0 in the following 50.
-
Like I said in the other thread. No matter how you look at it, wether its pure value (potential to get our money back or make a profit) or player quality, they'd be absolutely fucked in the head to spend £5m on Downing when they could have Tom Ince for £8m. Downings 29 for fuck sake, Ince is better at 21 and only a few million more.
-
5 Million for 29 year old Stewart Downing or £8m for 21 year old Tom Ince, hmm I wonder which to go with.. Seriously even from the perspective of pure value Ince is the far better deal due to his age, then there's the fact he's a much better player. We'd be absolutely mental to go for Downing.

Why preferably Bent? We have Cisse and Remy, two different strikers and Gomis would be another different option. Bent's just a poor mans Cisse so he's not a different option, plus he's older than Gomis. He seems like the worst option we could go for now. I like to see a British backbone in the team throughout the 90 minutes. Bent is a proven Premier League goalscorer who is desperate to get back in the England fold for next summer. A lot of people seem to be well clued up on these foreign 'stars'. How often do they actually see them play? I've never seen Gomis, not once. He's a proven goal scorer, but he plays in exactly the same style as our main striker, just without the ability to score goals he creates himself. If we're going for another striker don't you think we should want someone who offers something different? Fair enough if your reasoning is you haven't seen anything of Gomis. But he's obviously still a proven scorer at a good level and is that different kind of striker we're missing.
