I don't think we know enough about the situation to come of those conclusions at the moment. I mean we don't even know for certain that he'll leave.
-
100% spot on. Yeah but... all that money. Mmm, money. They might want to sell, but that's hardly a reason not to want to get him signed up to a new contract.
-
My opinion on Simpson is somewhere in between RKO and Nath. He's certainly not great but I don't think he's a poor player at all. He's had some excellent games for us this season and at times made some crucial tackles.
-
Only if he puts in a transfer request because we won't double his wages after he's already signed a new 5 year contract.. Thanks for proving my point. You're delusional David
-
Well if he puts in a transfer request because we won't double his wages after he's already signed a new 5 year contract then yeah people will view him as a greedy twat..
-
Simpson isn't nearly as quick as Enrique, I don't think I've ever seen a player out pace him.
-
Wouldn't agree there, at least he's a good option for freekicks and crosses.
-
To be fair, we've got 5/6 of the first 11 missing and another 3/4 squad players also missing (depending on how you rate Gosling), and its not as if that line up was really Pardew's only option.
-
I was wondering why on earth Villa were such big favourites with the bookies for this game, now I know why.
-
We've got more difficult teams to play on paper, but we've also got 9 points from our last 8 games, while Sunderland have 1 point from the same number of games.
-
That should make everyone much more confident for a Newcastle win then.
-
Everyone beating each other is fine by me, means nobody can put a run together and it would take several teams below us all putting a run together to cause us any problems.
-
Really hope he stays with us for the rest of his carear and gets a testimonial. I think he's the kind of player who can still be excellent well into his mid 30's so hopefully he'll be here for a long long time. But I suppose it'll come down to the wages he's on which are pretty high, for me he's worth every penny though.

Xisco joins Deportivo on loan until the end of the season
Teasy replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
Hopefully Depor will take him on permanently, I don't want the fucker back here. -
They're obviously not using that pace well though.
-
There's still the risk, but even if he has lost some pace (Which I do expect), his general technique play should not have got any worse. What are you basing that expectation on? I don't see any reason why he should lose any pace unless his injury was much more serious then anyone has said.

Can this thread end and the negative cunts please just fuck off now?, any chance?

You're always talking about revenue as if its the be all and end all, but in reality its only part of the picture and not something you can compare and make these kind of judgements on. You need to look at revenue AND costs together, sometimes to cut costs you need to cut revenue. For instance when we provided a catering/banqueting service. That was then contracted to an outside company for a fee. That lowered our revenue significantly (multi-millions no doubt), but we wouldn't have done it if it hadn't cut costs more then it cut revenue.

We might still have sold him or we might not, in a decent financial state £8m wouldn't have seemed so attractive. If we had sold him we may then have been able to spend that money because it wouldn't have been needed to cover losses. We really don't know what would have happened which makes it pretty hard to discuss properly. Over the next few years, if we stay up every year, I think it'll then be much easier to see exactly what the clubs policy is.

Also see Adam, Charlie. Good example. N'Zogbia at Wigan is another one. Clubs with little financial muscle yet reisting bids for their star man as they realised the player was more important than the profit. they're prioces obviously werent reached. had blackpool been offered 20mill for adam would they have knocked it back ? To turn down what they did was pretty much the same as the total revenue they made in 2009. Arguably more impressive. how much was it ? how much were they holding out for as the deal seemed on at one point and time pulled the plug ? £8m or so wasn't it? The revenue they made in 2009 isn't relevant though, there expected revenue in the Premiership this season will be at least £40m.

Our coffers didn't swell through Bassong, he was sold to minimise the losses we were going to take from relegation. There's nothing to say we would have sold him had we stayed up. People will talk about Carroll as evidence of that, but the fact is we received an absolutely insane offer for Carroll. We're trying to buy players who we believe are great value for money, I don't see how that's a bad thing.
