Taking the p*ss I hope? No not at all........... why is Nolan even being offered a new deal ? Him and his best mate are both important players but not irreplaceable, both getting on in footballing years and are lucky to be here. I am sick to fkn death of this "rejects new contract offer" bollocks. Transfer list them then, they don't want to be here then fine, if we signed the players we want Nolan should not even be in the starting 11 anyway. Why are you having a go at Nolan for being offered a new deal? f***s sake Basically bullshit from start to end this. Barton, and especially Nolan, mean a lot for the club and the spirit in the dressing room. As well as being great/decent footballers of course. We know nowt about what the new contracts say, but you can't blame them for not wanting to sign contracts which will give them less money than they have now. And yes, they do want to be here. Which is why they're being offered new deals...but you get the feeling that they're after similar wages to the likes of Ben Arfa, Tiote, Cabaye, etc. which they shouldn't be on imo. it hardly sets a great precedent though does it mate? talking of loyalty, two of the top performers in a successful season get offered pay cuts? I see what you mean, but when they're 30 & 31, should they be expecting high wages on a par with the likes of Ben Arfa & Tiote when they're not even guaranteed a game? if ben arfa and tiote are still here by then they'll be getting paid a lot more than 50k a week. Tiote will still have 4 and a half years left by then. i'm assuming he meant by the end of the proposed new deals for barton and nolan? He mentioned 30 and 31, which will be Barton/Nolans ages when there current deals run out.

Where is Barton being reported to be on £75k? I've always thought he was on £65k, that's what was reported at the time in most places.

I agree with the bit in bold, we have no right to ask for loyalty even though I'm not too bothered to lose either player if we bring in somebody better. They have no right to ask for loyalty from us.

Never mind that the story is right, eh? I had to comment, I hate the News of the world with a passion.. What's your point anyway? Nolan wants a new contract, so automatically the following month he should have one and if he doesn't NUFC have done something wrong? I wonder why they entered negotiations then made an offer that is seemingly so inadequate that it couldn't be compromised on and agreed. The same as Barton. The club seem very unwilling to reward experienced players who undoubtedly deserve it; they'd rather risk breaking up an established team and dressing room, finding someone else for less money and hope it works out. Does that not concern you? They entered into negotiations because the player wanted a new contract. Just because that offer wasn't accepted by the player doesn't mean we should assume it was a bad offer. What if Nolan wants a 2 year contract extension and no pay cut? Do we then say the club has done something wrong by not committing to a 4 year £45-£50k contract for a player who'll be 33 when it ends? I agree its totally wrong to assume Nolan is being greedy or that this is all his fault. But I also think its wrong to do the opposite.

He's got two years left on his contract.. He'll be 31 by the time his current deal runs out by the way, who here thinks that Kevin Nolan should be getting £40-£50k a week here when he's 32-33? I have a feeling they may get rid of him If he wont accept the contract thats being offered. They wont want to lose him for nothing in 2 years. Nah I can see them being ok with letting him go for nothing at 31. The only way they'll sell IMO is if we either bring players in that make him surplus or if he asks to go. Even then I don't think anyones going to pay a decent fee plus £50k a week for him.

What? Without knowing the details of the contract(s), how the f*** can you make such a sweeping ridiculous statement? Sarcasm, mate. This whole charade will be played out each time one of our established players is due to sign a new deal. Aye, see the post above yours, my appologies. Agree by the way, Colo will be the next to 'reject' his contract. Yep. So you both believe we should give Nolan whatever he wants to take him onto his 33rd birthday? Just trying to actually find out your opinions here as all I see is sarcasm and insinuation.

All reports at the time of us signing Nolan had him on £50k. He's been worth that and probably will next season, but at 31 when his contract finally ends?, no way.

Depends what he's asking for.

Can someone post the link for this thread on the Lille forum?

Hughes is such a slag.

Yeah I'd agree with that, Enrique being better defensively and Baines better going forward. I still think though that for a lot of this season Enrique hasn't tried as hard as he could have, the fact that he's still looked excellent is a testament to just how good he is. He hasn't looked excellent though, he's been good but the likes of Coloccini, Barton and Tiote have been excellent. Baines is quite a bit better than Enrique even if he isn't as strong defensively, as I said earlier a large part of being a fullback in modern football is having the ability going forward, possibly more so than defending for the top clubs. Enrique's tapered off quite a bit as the seasons gone along, seems like he's really not that interested now unless we play a top team (he doesn't seem to make the mistakes you mention against teams like Man Utd or Chelsea..). But IMO he has been excellent, he's even put in some very good attacking displays. But anyway, I know your opinion and you know mine so that's the end of it for me, time for some Southpark, seeyas

Well he is IMO mate, I obviously don't rate N'Zogbia as highly as you. I'm not going to go through every team and only including players that are specifically considered right wingers. But suffice to say that IMO Zog wouldn't get into Arsenal's team, or Manures, or the Spuds or Man City's.
-
Better defensively?, when both are on their game and actually putting in some effort?
-

How is he better? Enrique's a better left back then Zog is a winger. Its pretty hard to compare them directly obviously as they have very different jobs. I just think that Enrique is among the top few players in his position in the league, while IMO Zog isn't. I rate Cole, Evra, Clichy, Baines and Kolorov as all being better than Enrique. How many right wingers are better than N'Zogbia because I think he could get in at Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in that position. I've always been a fan of Enrique's but the one thing that will put the top clubs off him is his lack of ability going forward, which is what they look for in their fullbacks since they spend most of their time on the front foot. Cole and Evra yes, but I don't agree with the rest (especially the likes of Clichy and Kolorov). Nani, Valencia, Nasri, Lennon are all as good or better than Zog IMO. I agree that some left backs (such as Baines) are better at going forward than Enrique, though you might consider that its easier to go forward as a left back in a top four side then it is playing for Newcastle. Still defensively he's awesome and even though he's had a good season I think that plenty of times this season he's just looked like he's uninterested and going through the motions, otherwise he'd be rated even higher. Anyway, we obviously rate both players a little differently, lets just say they're both excellent players and agree to disagree.
