  1. He did ok in his first spell here, he was poor today but I'm not going to condemn him based on one start and one sub appearance.
  2. Now its because he's older? I'm pretty sure you've argued he wasn't worth having two years ago. He was poor today, but I wouldn't right him off yet.
  3. He wasn't even in position enough for Zog to take him apart, most of the time he was nowhere to be seen!
  4. Always said he was a scapegoat for a lot of people, blamed for everything wether he was involved or not. Had a poor season but nowhere near as bad as most people claimed. I also had a bet with someone early in our Championship season that he'd be a top performer and that if he was still with us in the Premiership he'd be a good player.

Sadly an example of someone who was never again the same player. OK, he reinvented his game afterwards, but it took him a couple of seasons. Pretty sure that injury was worse then Ben Arfa's. Didn't Shearer also tear his ankle ligaments?
  6. I'd say Williamson is our third best CB. Definitely good enough for the Premiership and given Campbells age someone we should certainly be looking to keep in and around the first team.

"There is an option for Newcastle to purchase him bound to a number of matches. He won't play them, obviously, but we'll have to see what Newcastle do" Which means we'll buy him if we want him?! Of course, the 25 game clause is their for Marseilles benefit, to ensure we couldn't get a good season out of him on the cheap and then return him, it'll have no baring on whether we can sign him or not. Correct me if I'm wrong, does it also not mean though that had he played the 25 games, Marseilles can't refuse to sell and the price is fixed, which means he is ours if we want to. But now that he won't be playing the 25 games, Marseilles can reject our offer or increase the price? I see no reason why it should. Like I said the 25 game clause is their simply to safeguard Marsielle against us taking a player on the cheap, getting a full season out of him, and sending him back. Other clauses, such as an agreed price will be separate from that.

Isn't it up to us ? I don't know, but I'd have thought that most clubs would protect themselves against this kind of thing. Probably why we never sent Gonzales back.

He's their asset. They might recall him so they can, in their opinion, give him the best care and rehab. Considering there's a fee involved he'll be contracted to us for the duration of the loan, we'd be incredibly stupid to pay a loan fee for a player who can be recalled at any time. Also even if we wanted to let him go back I doubt Marseille would want to pay his wages for the next however long it takes to get him fit also knowing he never wants to play for them again.

How are we going to send him back? Marseille wouldn't take him back while he's injured.

There's nothing to say that we don't have the option to buy the player at the agreed price. The 25 games means we're forced to buy, nobody said that was a requirement for us to be able to sign him.

It's a broken leg, how much more serious does it get for a footballer? Death? Tearing tendons and ligaments is often much worse then a broken leg, especially if the break is clean.
  14. I know what the question is and I know what I said, and I stick by it. Obviously staying up is the most important thing, but I believe we will and can possibly finish higher then 17th (fucking hope we do, I don't think I could handle it otherwise).
  15. So the question is actually "Would you take a minimum of 17th place but with the chance of finishing higher"? Who the fuck wouldn't? Surely the point of the question is if you were offered it would you take 17th place now, or would you gamble on finishing higher.

    James Perch

Didn't he give the ball away needlessly in the lead up to the first goal? Partially causes the first goal and scores the second, Stokes best player on the night.
  17. His point seems to be Football is about more then winning trophies, so we shouldn't want to win one, what kind of logic is that? Yes Malandro Football is about much more then winning trophies, but winning trophies is also part of Football and its a nice part, so the better question for you is why the fuck wouldn't we want to add another trophy to the clubs history?

    Sunderland...

That's bizarre logic.. Also I don't believe anyone here constantly browses that forum, nobody is that sad surely. I pop across if anything if see a talking point in the Chron/Journal/or here about SAFC. That board has resident NUFC fans I cant think of any SAFC fans who post regularly on here. Other Newcastle forums have them as far as I've seen, I like to think this place is a safe zone though

  21. Routledge got more assist and goals in half a season than Jonas has got in over two seasons.... More assists maybe, not more goals, though not far off.

He's certainly stubborn, I just think Marseille's resolve would be strengthened a bit if he has a excellent season in the Premiership. I agree with the rest though and will leave it at that.

I still can't see Marseille selling him to anyone else for that kind of fee without a fight (assuming that if he's not willing to sign here he must have had an excellent season and attracted some very big clubs). We'll see though, everything we've heard about him suggests that he thrives on adulation, which is quite encouraging for our chances of keeping him IMO.

They have to accept it yes, the only way we wouldn't sign him is if he refused the move. IF he refused, he'd end up going for a lot more then £5.5m IMO as that would mean there'd be some pretty big clubs interested and Marseille have no reason to accept that kind of fee from anyone but us.
