SSN: £10m offer from Spurs for Sebastien Bassong rejected

Who says he's only got a year left? AFAIK hes still got two years left on his contract. I'm sure if he only had a year left we'd accept the £10m. -

NUFC are not in position to hold out for an inflated fee for him. If there has been a bid £10m it should of been accepted.. Why's that then?, because we have to get his £5,000 a week off the wage bill There's no reason for us to be desperate to sell a player like Bassong. -
Hardly worth mentioning for two people man I really hope what Messi said happens though. Beye goes to Hull and signs a two year contract at 40,000 with a 50% relegation wage drop. They go down and we go up and he's left on 20 grand playing in the Championship, I'd laugh my arse off!

I know what you said FFS, but can't think what your referring to? Has anyone said we're as attractive a proposition as a Premier League side?

You suspect that Ashley's going to put it all in his back pocket (despite it being paid in installments over the course of 3 or 4 years) yes? Just like he never has before? The money will go into the club as every past transfer fee has. Putting the money into the club and making it more financially stable in order to get a higher fee from potential buyers is a much better way to do things for Ashley. Trying to funnel it out whilst selling the club would potentially scupper any sale all together and would be pretty much impossible given the nature of how transfer fees are paid.

What?

Since most of them are taking the piss I doubt they'd agree to it.

Dammit don't say that unless your 1000000% serious, I can't take it!! No jokes allowed

Not saying the story isn't true, Thomo seems very geniune so I hope it is but how do you know gazza?
-
Well if it was DIC then its basically the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates so I think he'd probably be considered a fit and proper person pretty quickly unless the FA don't like living

Allardyce had plenty to do with it, he destroyed any team spirit we might have had and also lumbered us with the likes of Barton, Viduka, Smith and Geremi. I also blame Hughton far more then I blame Kinnear. Any badness that Allardyce did was soon rectified and forgotten about by Keegan (whose consequential misdemeanours aren't relevant). Really can't understand why you'd blame Hughton over Kinnear, either. Weird one that. We were down long before Hughton/Shearer filled in, Kinnear being the most direct cause. Keegan didn't remove Viduka, Barton, Geremi, Smith ect off the wage bill so it wasn't all rectified. Also I blame Hughton because he was in charge of 8 league games and got us 2 points.. Kinnear wasn't great but we got 23 points from his 19 league games. He got us out of the relegation zone (which Hughton had taken us into in his first spell) and we didn't go back in until after he left. Kinnears points per game average (1.21) even just for the 5 games Hughton took before Shearer came in would easily have been enough to see us stay up. He was a poor manager I'm not disputing that, but it was the time before he arrived and after (at least until Shearer came in) that truley condemned us.

I don't think your talking shit Thomo, lets just hope your friend is right.

Do you really trust this bloke? Also how much of this does he know personally and how much was he just told?

Your signature how can you blame FS, KK and Roeder? FS and SBR both got us to those heights, he was ambitious and did everything he could to get us back up to the top. Every owner makes mistakes btw. KK - saved us relegation, and left after 3 games. Didn't leave us in s*** had a whole season for MA to appoint another manager. Roeder - an unlikely European campaign. Left us better than when we were before he arrived. FS's sacking of Robson, hiring Souness, giving Souness £50m are enough to put him on that list. He backed the manager he appointed. It was the wrong appointment admittedly but didn't appoint Sounes to destroy the club did he? The signings of Owen and Solano at the time were applauded by all, and was done to get us back to the top. But he was the wrong manager to appoint and the wrong man to back wasn't he! Doesn't matter what his motives were, he fucked up and that was just the tip of the iceberg with him, he was one big fuckup. Also the signing of Owen wasn't applauded by all fans.

From Jonny Hall's sig

Yes He's a useless midfielder picking up around 50,000 pounds every week, how would it hurt us to get rid?
-
There are far better Championship players then him, there are players out there who would play for a quarter of his wage who are better players, he wouldn't be a loss in the slightest, it would be a large gain to get rid of that tosser.
-
Pretty much it. If he was a genuinely good finisher, then he'd have pissed this league and scored 30+ goals. For me, Martins will be a 10-12 goal a season striker at best due to his lack of composure. He'd have gotten loads more chances which means more goals even for a poor finisher, ask Ade Akinbiyi Not bothered though, there are much cheaper players we could get on a quarter of his wages, or less, who could score as many in the Championship. So I agree its a good deal.

Jonas and Bassong. Can't think of anyone elsee. Jonas? Never. Absolut useless he was... I'm not going to bother arguing since it just doesn't seem important to discuss any of these players anymore, though needless to say I disagree. Anyway to the point, we only paid 5m for him so I think we'll easily get our money back and really we should get more. No matter what you think of him he's a current Argentine international midfielder and 5m is nowt in todays market. Doesn't matter how bad a finisher a player is (and lets be serious Oba isn't THAT bad) if he gets more chances he'll inevitably score more goals.

Hull will go down next season, no doubt about that. They were flying high for so long on pure adrenaline (weren't they still top 6 half way through?) yet when that ran out and they started playing at there normal level they were such a bad set of players they ended up one point from relegation. Beye's walking away from one relegation into another and this time there will be a relegation wage drop in his contract.. If the fee is good then I've got no problem with it, if the fee isn't then tell them to fuck off, we don't have to sell right away transfer request or not.

That article mentions 10.5m euro's which confirms the £9m fee.

He wants to spend massive sums of money on Newcastle United as a good will gesture to UK Football, that's how I choose to interpret it anyway
