That sums it up for me

Amazingly short memory syndrome again. Boumsong started his first game with a shaky performance against lower league oppisition! He did ok in some games early on but was never quite good. On the other hand Coloccini actually did do very well initially, you only have to look back to the threads much earlier in the season to see that. Who cares though, he'll be gone soon and I certainly won't be bothered one bit when he leaves, its neccesary after all. Severely debatable. Anyway. We'll be lucky to get over 5 mill on his performances this season. Have to see how far his previous rep will take him. Well you can debate it but I remember most people thinking he was doing very well initially, I can't remember many people thinking Boumsong was doing very well early on. lol The really funny thing is at the time he didn't

I think it all comes from one of his recent comments: "It has been catastrophic for everybody. I’ve lost my money and I’ve made terrible decisions. Now I want to sell it as soon as I can" People are assuming that when he says he's lost his money he means he's written off the money he's put into the club. He won't sell it for £100 million with a £106m debt anyway so he's going to have to right it off if he wants to sell it.

We paid £9.4 million as far as I remember, with another £1 million performance bonus, can't imagine that bonus was ever achieved.

That strategy might have made sense to a degree back then, but not now. There's no protests or calls for him to leave this time around, just fans waiting for a management position to be settled and resigned to supporting the club in the Championship. What would he look to gain from pretending he wants to sell? It won't apease anyone, as far as I can see he'd only achieve a massive reduction in season ticket sales for no advantage what so ever. Unless he's putting the club up for sale only as an attempt to stall on the appointment of a new manager? Seems quite a drastic way to do it, but he is an idiot. Still I just think he wants out.

Definitely. Although I'm sure Mick has told me before as well that Mort said to his face that Keegan had the final say. Still who knows. Keegan may have had final say before Mort left, he can't keep his word when he's not even at the club.

The biggest mistake of our fans is that they don't give foreign players a chance, not even for a season. There is nothing wrong with buying from Spain whatsoever, just look at other English clubs and you always see the successful one. Taylor has been shit for so many seasons, and he's still shit now if i am honest, but it's the time and support from the fans that made him improved every games. Some fans should really fuck off and feel ashamed of themselves. They are just part of the blame for relegation.

I just don't understand why you think a "ruthless Arab" would rack up massive loan debts and disapear in a puff of smoke with a Champsionship club but become a philanthropist when at a Premiership club.
-
Amen. So you recon Man City and Portsmouth are being conned then? Don't know as I'm not really interested in them. I don't really understand your question either, has it something to do with what Dover wrote ? Yeah it was meant as a reply to Dover. Specifically the bit about Arabs being ruthless.

Apparently he owns 6 yachts worth around $1 billion and several palaces, so he's not too short of cash then

The Sultan of Oman will certainly be a multi-multi billionaire, I'm sure other members of the Oman royal family will be as well.

The cause of our problems as in the cause of our relegation. Of course we had loads of problems last season but in my opinion THE main reason we went down was the choices of manager not lack of spending. I mean even spending on the wrong players comes in ahead of lack of spending for reasons we went down. Parky I don't have a fucking clue what you're on about

Not sure I get you're point there, why would not coming straight back up make us a yoyo club? There's no way we could ever turn into a yoyo club, we'll either stay down for years or we'll get back in and stay in. Isn't the problem that people want an owner that will be able to put money into the club (i.e not Ashley or Freddy), wouldn't a fans' consortium do just the opposite? We wouldn't be able to plug the club with money if needed, which it probably would. I don't see the parachute payment and the money from player sales being enough to stablise us. That really depends on how many members we could get. If we could get enough it could pay for the club and leave enough for an initial cash injection to keep things going until the wage bill is slashed. Plus there could be a small voting fee every term which is held for transfer fee's or something, I'm sure as a collective we could find extra money from somewhere if we knew we had a much bigger say in how it would be spent.
-
I know we've grown to expect incompetent dawdling over the years but if the new owners aren't idiots we shouldn't expect this at all. They should have a plan and the money to do it all setup before they even come in.
-
You are kidding me? Shepherd agreed to pay his wages, it was obvious for everyone to see that he was only coming here because he was desperate to come back to England and we were simply the biggest club in England that put forward the most money at the time. It was fairly obvious his attitude before he signed, his injuries were unfortunate for all parties involved. As for rushing back to play for England, most footballers would have done the same thing, it's not often you get the chance to play for your country in a World Cup so I don't blame him for that at all. How does any of that mean he doesn't owe us anything? There is such a thing as morals and while I don't expect most Footballers to have them that doesn't mean I think its ok that they don't..
-
Aye, spending the sort of money the club could no longer afford to. What a boy. Yeah, whereas the current regime's solution of spending only the money that the club could afford was a fucking resounding success, wasn't it? That'd be a good point if lack of spending was actually the cause of our problems for the past year, which it wasn't.
-
Its not just managers buying players for big money and then not making it back in sales that was the problem. The biggest problem was allowing the wage bill to get so massively out of control.
-
Dear me, you really believe he got £250,000 per game?

Im sure most was saying exactly this when there was CONSTANT reports that Keegan and the guys above him didn't get on and we passed it off as typical media shit. Until the situation erupted and they were completely proved right. Spout enough shit and eventually you'll be right once or twice. How about the other 1 million or so times they've been wrong? To be fair there was an absolute shitload of stuff about Keegan not being happy etc and it ALL turned out to be true. I've noticed there's been quite a number of 'insider' stuff since Shearer took over btw. No doubt some of the papers had real info at the time, big stretch to say all the stories were right though. Also a big stretch to use the situation to lend credence to the likes of the News of the World.

How does that help Mike Ashley?
