    1 Man team

I think the best thing to have said, KD, is that Friedel saves more points for his team than any other player in the league, and I'd struggle to disagree with you there. He's probably worth more points to his team than almost anybody else in the league, I think that's fair enough to say.
  2. Compare this back line from our last trip to West Ham in September of 2006: Carr, Moore, Ramage, Babayaro to the one that will start on Saturday: Beye, Taylor, Faye, Enrique What a difference a few seasons make, and Big Sam wasn't all bad. I'm still convinced that personel-wise, we improved greatly over Roeder's regime, even if the football was shite.

    Aiden McGeady

I think Maloney is a tidy little player, but he's only that. I think its fair to say that McGeady would probably fall into the same category, and we could do much better. Typical waste of money from someone who's diabolical in the transfer market, Keane. Nobody should race Sunderland to sign anyone, the fact that they're in for a player means stay clear!

    1 Man team

I think the perfect example of a one man team is Man City. Elano is everything for them, and as you'd expect from a one man team, they fell apart at some point in the season. One man teams don't sustain it like Blackburn have this season.

I still think there was an element of luck involved, we could very easily have lost to Brum and that really could have sent us into an even deeper spiral. What's happened since is nothing short of amazing, but so much hinged on that game and we didn't play that well.

  7. It's only on DirecTV in America.
  8. I knew someone would bring up the Andrew Cole comparison, and it's probably an apt one. Rooney is still one of the most effective players in the league, and if things revolved around him, not Ronaldo, he'd be a 20 goal a season man easily. It is pretty amazing that ManUtd have been major players in 4 different competitions and will play something like 60 games this year using really only 2 forwards.
  9. True, let's be fair here. I thought he was basically saying that the wingers couldn't be rushing forward to fast, because they were going to a 4-2-4 too quickly. Interesting he said that, considering how much 4-3-3 he actually played when he was here.
  10. I'm pretty sure you could pick a result like that from any managers career. Petty. Still makes me laugh:
  11. I found this interesting considering the source: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/manchester_city/article3736211.ece Surely there's legs in this if it's from the Times.
  12. Butt's defensive work and positioning is decent, and the way he cut a lot of stuff out today reminded me of Woodgate. I do think his passing is very hit and miss, as is Barton's and Geremi's. I think a CM who can pass would be my first priority this summer. Whether that's a DM with good range (Carrick) or a midfield playmaker to push on and score goals (Diego), I think we have to have someone who can pick out good passes on a consistent basis. Owen and Martins are both excellent at running onto through balls, we just need someone who can thread them.
  13. If we had someone of Mascherano's quality to take over Butt's spot, it could do amazing things for this team. He just doesn't have the range of passing that he needs to have to play in that DM playmaker role.
  14. I also thought Harper was excellent today, MOTM for us, was really strong on balls into the box and made a really good save to keep the point against Defoe.
  15. Pretty shit game for the neutral, but draw was a fair result. End product from both teams was absolute garbage, and Enrique and Geremi worked the flanks well but crossing was really poor. So were corners and free kicks come to think of it. At the end of the day, neither team could get the final pass in, and that was that.
  16. Perhaps that's why Barry was so underwhelming when playing for England. I'd still have him in the team, will be interesting to see if Capello still wants to start him.
  17. I thought that was a definite pen, we were lucky there. If Defoe and Martins see more of the ball in the second half, there will be goals in this game.
  18. Shearer against Villa Shearer against Everton Shearer against Chelsea Shearer against Man Citeh I also attach Sky commentary to really amazing moments as well, so goals like Tony Adams v. Everton to win the league, Yeboah v. Wimbeldon, Sheringham v. Liverpool, Bradford beating Liverpool, West Brom's goal against Arsenal a few seasons ago. I'm also very found for some reason of Norwich's win over ManUtd a few seasons ago when they were in the prem.
  19. Surely the lack of "persistent foul abusive language, persistent abuse of Officials' decisions and aggressive threatening conduct towards opposing fans" is because there's nobody at Fulham games? Which should in turn mean bad things for the "verbal support in acceptable form and covert recognition of outstanding play by opponents" section...
  20. I think Martins or Beye. The first thing I thought when seeing this thread was how Viduka is the least important player in the side, but obviously nobody concurs. I just think he still doesn't do that much for the team, and another player could fill that role better.
  21. fair enough, but you see my point. man u are playing the best football and winning convincingly. chelsea, generally not so much. i dont know about you but when you take the whole package, i prefer man u to chelsea. i was far more pissed off walking out of stamford bridge knowing weve been narrowly beaten than i was watching us lose 6-0. maybe thats just me. Points=Prizes End of discussion. If Chelsea win the title come May then they deserve it. Everyone talks about Chelsea backing into it, playing bad football, whatever. ManUtd has had chances to widen the gap, and started the season terribly, dropping a bunch of points. Boro on Sunday was another great opportunity to just about tie it up. We should go all out to win every game for the rest of this season. By the way, am I the only one that thinks Arsenal still has a good shot at the title? Obviously it all hinges on beating ManUtd next Sunday, but they have a piss easy run-in compared to both Chelsea and especially ManUtd, and if they beat ManUtd next week then I think it's completely wide open between those 3. Yet all the pundits have already written them off.

I fail to see why they have such a chip on their shoulder when it comes to this: The club was in absolute shambles around that time and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they did offer Harry the job. Surely this is a case of Cockney hatred gone way too far? And besides, their case is basically "Well Mort said he didn't but Harry said he did, so let's just pick what we want to be true and say that it actually is!"
  23. It's be brilliant to fuck up Chelsea's title hopes and Everton's CL hopes right there at the end.
