  1. The "loyalty payment thing" is a rumour for which there hasn't been the slightest shred of confirmation in any published story.

Which puts it at EXACTLY the same level of believability as the "West Ham shady practices shown in this transfer" thing.

I'm afraid you're wrong. There have been precisely no mentions of a loyalty bonus by anyone at either club. The "West Ham shady practices thing" has been asserted by us and nothing has been denied by them. And who could forget that their "shady practices thing" nearly got them relegated last season. Just in the last few days, Derby have also complained about dodgy West Ham approaches to one of their players.

Meanwhile, the Joey Barton "loyalty bonus thing" came out into the open as fact. If it did in that case, why not in this one?

But, feel free to believe that West Ham are pure as the driven and Mort and Allardyce are liars, if that what makes you happy.

There you go again, taking things too far.

Because i have a doubt over an supposed allegation (and we were SO UPSET by their behaviour we were bought off with another £1m, according to you), i must hate the club? Fuck off, thats patehric even for a man of your limited means.

  2. Aye, Parker, Bowyer and Dyer - thats a midfield guaranteed to produce f*** all except laughs for other teams fans.

All they need is Jenas

They'd be the match for ANY team then.....as long as the aim of the competition was to run with the ball for a bit (bonus points for sideways), pass the ball badly, fail to provide goalscoring opportunities, and be massively overpaid.

In fact, if they could get Zakora as backup, they'd be crowned champions now!

  3. The "loyalty payment thing" is a rumour for which there hasn't been the slightest shred of confirmation in any published story.

It's absolute bollocks, man. For sure.

West Ham acted the bollocks during the deal and Mort and Ashley demanded more money out of them because of it.

It's done, we won. The board did the right thing and we're £2M better off. Huzzah.

Denyong one unsubstantiated story, then claiming another is true. Ouch.

  4. I would have thought Taylor would be more of a cover for Left Back than Cacapa seeing as he's played there before but other than that I agree.

We could do with one more centreback and Faye seems an ideal signing (price, flexibility and league/SA experience).

I still feel very uneasy about Carr being our first choice rightback.

Carr can't be, if we don't want to be opened up every game.

As for Cacapa, keep up man! He's been established by the many N-O posters who avidly watched subs benches across France last season that he is the greatest defender to stride across any back four, ever, and a guaranteed success in any position he plays.

  6. Fuck him now, anyway. We got more than he was worth, and i'm not expecting him to trouble us when we play West Ham.

Although those who saw the £2m thing as being down West Ham's poor practices might want to reassess it bearing in mind the "loyalty payment" thing. But at the end of the day, we got GOOD money for an average payer, so kudos to us. :)

  7. If Faye comes as well he'll have signed 5 quality players who all have a good amount of Premiership experience, which is exactly what he said he was looking for. In Smith, Geremi, Viduka and Barton he has also signed four "leaders", which is also exactly what he said he was looking for (I'm not sure what Faye's character is like). It's brilliant to have a manager who has a gameplan and - for the most part - sticks to it.

Even when he's bought from abroad, Enrique aside, (which was a good signing in it's own right because of the potential of the lad) he's brought in Lyon's captain and Rozehnal, who looks a natural defender in the Woodgate-mould to me, which instantly leads by example to people like Taylor.

Fantastic work from him, Mort and Cushing so far - with more to come as well.

    Rozehnal - Bramble

    Cacapa - Moore

    Faye - Onyewu

    Enrique - Bernard

    Smith - Dyer

    Geremi - Solano

    Barton - Parker

    Viduka - Sibierski

Is how it's potentially looking so far, with a mooted "replacement" for Srnicek's former role being worked on as well, not to mention another potential signing for the defence.

    Looks great, on paper.

i agree and overall can't complain, but the only thing that would concern me is Geremi and Smith replacing Dyer and Solano. I think the latter two probably offer a little more, even though the new lads have impressed me a great deal. Geremi and Smith are well rounded players, very dependable types who work hard, but they don't really have any exceptional qualities. perhaps Geremi's delivery counts but he's not exactly fashioned his career around exploiting it so it isn't used as much as it could be. Dyer and Nobby, for all their weaknesses (stamina and mobility for solano, injuries and invisibility for dyer) both have exceptional qualities that 95% of premiership players don't have, namely ridiculous pace for dyer, and unimpeachable vision for solano. personally if these two go i'd like us to bring in a right sided attacker who could go someway to replacing what we've lost. Maybe Zoggy's re-emergence goes some way to replacing Dyer, while Diouf would be a good addition, and a fast wing-back in the mould of Miguel or Alves wouldn't go amiss.

Dyer didn't do fuck all with his pace, he really is no great loss whatsoever.

  8. Faye to replace Butt in the DMC role anyone? Dropping in between taylor and rozehnal when defending with alan smith coming back as a defensive midfielder.

    532 and 442!

Hopefully not the Smith thing, and hopefully more: Faye to put pressure on Butt for a starting place, with But being given his chance to hang on to his spot if performances allow.

'Text-speak' is for twats.  Takes everyone more time to read as we have to translate it.  And it's also for twats, did I mention that?  Twats.

doesnt take much intelect to realise that "2" means "to"...

and its not meant to be confusing its just a way to type faster... ffs its not as if i'm writing in a f*king code language.

    &*12YnU@!   %^g2'' 12qweas$$

Doesn't take much intellect to spell intellect, either. ;)

(Just to be clear, I wasn't 'saying you're a twat' - just that I believe text speak is for twats, doesn't do anyone justice.  I could understand and even tolerate the need for it when SMS was very limited in terms of screen-size, and when the number of characters per message was at a premium... anyway!)

you were doing fine, then right at the end BAM! you went all nerd.

  10. 2 cracking finishes from the lad, people took the piss when i said he does have what it takes to be a Prem player but so far he is looking very much the part.

I don't think he'll get far into double figures for league goals, personally. Never looked good enough.

  11. £ 10 million for insurance for 2-3 months...............

I wouldn't put it past  them...........

and I suspect the Board would accept the money 'n aalll

He can f*** off for all i care,we've lived life without him for the past 2 seasons and now going into the third,he should never ever walk into this team ever again and will have a hard job with Viduka Martins and even Smith.

If Sam is right in the head he will tell him so,if he doesn't like what he has to say i'd tell him to get his bags packed.

Do you get the point that i don't like Owen  ;D

Surely you cant hate Owen for his mis-fortune, i mean its not like he's injured on purpose.

I am frustrated too, but wouldnt be fair to blame it all on Owen, he's just been unlucky when you think about it.

I don't hate him, but i hate the fact that we KNOW, if one of the big clubs had come in, he'd have fucked us off. Not that i'd blame him, i just don't like the idea.

What i DO hate is the fact that we are so desensitised to his perma-crockedness that we are HOPING we get 20 games out of him, but doubting even that. And at 6 figures a week, doe she provide value at that number of appearances? Not for me, its too unsettling to the players he displaces when he gets fit for a while, then who have to step in again when he breaks down.

  12. £14m for Dyer and Parker? Amazing.

    THIS.

Staggering. Thank God for Icelandic stupidity! :)

I hope he's not paying us in biscuits!  :kasper:

Actually, if Freddie was still here he'd have loved that deal!

"£4m cash, £2m based on appearances, and all the chocolate bourbons i can eat.......what do you mean, you can't make that many bourbons???"

  13. £14m for Dyer and Parker? Amazing.

    THIS.

Staggering. Thank God for Icelandic stupidity! :)

Instead getting Geremi and Barton or Smith for around £6m

2 better players and £8M in on the bank for us ;) ....Quality dealing by Sam and the rest involved

    If this comes off, definately.

I was aghast when we pulled the plug on the Dyer thing at £6m. If we can get another mill for the little cunt, i'll be over the moon! I genuinely thoguht Ashley had fucked that one up, but fair play to him and his team if it goes through at £7m - although the sickening feeling at thinking we were going to have to keep paying superstar wages to a very average player weren't nice. :)

  14. There is no doubt that he has tons of experience and seems a very steady defender - however, he WILL find that the Prem is quicker & more physical than the French league and the fact that he hasn't played competitive football regularly over the past year may have taken his edge off - only Sam will be able to judge that, but if he comes in and does as  well as Rozenhal did at Bolton, we can have no complaints - my concerns in this match are mainly over the fullbacks against their speedy wingers, but if we control midfield - and I believe we can - then we should have a good chance of 3 points.

against villa we might struggle to do that, and we certainly will against better teams. We desperately need two good fullbacks in place.

(although the abject fear i used to feel in the days before a match is lessened nowadays, and largely been replaced by something that might, just might, be anticipation.....first time in a few years i've had THAT!).

didnt realise there was actually a rule.. someone could of told me earlier instead of saying its irritating.... my fault lads...

anyway does anybody know whether he has the pace to cope   <desperately trying to change subject>

too late, the Mods'll have your card marked now.

"oh, there goes McCormick again, fucking troublemaker".....THAT'S what they're saying about you, right now.

You could possibly argue with the "quality" statement about all 5 - we know Barton and Geremi are decent players, i think Faye is alright, Smith depends on where he plays, and i'm not a fan of Viduka's personally, he's had the odd good season, he's never really done it for me.

But what CAN'T be argued with is that Allardyce has come in acknowledged the problems (first manager for a while to honestly do that), shifted some of the crap, and brought in better payers.

And he's done it on a small net outlay. If it all comes together, we'll be a canny side. And if it doesn't, at least we have a manager who did the right thing, unliek the last 2 monkeys.
