  1. Play down the importance of tactics for the hat-trick.
  2. Never mind the fact that since many people “like us lot” left the atmosphere has been absolutely woeful and the stadium was ~80% full at times last year. A very strange definition of “better”.
  3. Fair play. Response is there too, and it's exactly what everyone expected.
  4. Biggest thing Caulkin's guilty of here is being a fellow supporter and getting swept along in everything, along with the rest of us. What a monster.
  5. He's repeatedly stated he believes his source, that he thought the takeover was happening months ago, and alluded to that s**** "cans" craic constantly. He fell for it completely. Fell for what? The s**** his source fed him. Or was he correct all along and I've missed our successful takeover? Your wording makes it sound like you think the consortium have gained out of this whole sorry episode, though. It's proper weird. I can understand people being wary of Staveley by this point, as I was after the last bids failed to materialise into anything, but I find it hard to accept that she's been anything but either a) genuine or b) genuinely trying to get information out into the public to positively impact on the potential of the deal being approved (this time around).

  8. Surely it was in case Brucey took us to the promised land of 5th?
  9. Anyone remember when he was moaning about having "too many centre-halves" at the beginning of the season? Sums him up. Source? Poor Steve. Inheriting six centre-halves and being forced to play three at the back due to that bastard Benitez. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/11820649/steve-bruce-exclusive-newcastles-blueprint-for-improvement

  11. They played Man Utd about 3 seasons running in the CL back in the day so it’s probably that. Most likely, yeah. Did they have one or two deep runs in the CL around the time that Porto won it? Feels like a lifetime ago. EDIT: Just watched some incredibly low-quality highlight reels. What a fucking player he was.
  12. I've only got fleeting memories of Valeron, but I'm sure there was a high profile game or two were he looked like the most natural player I'd ever seen.
  13. Christ. It's almost as if GWN is Gallowgate End, or something.
  14. 100%. I watch and listen to SBR and Rafa and look at what we have now and weep. We had gold in our hands and let it slip through our fingers, for what? Interesting comparison. Sir Bob took us from bottom of the league to three successive top five finishes and the last 16 of the Champions League. But at that point, the vast majority of the posters on this site (as with many other supporters) thought he was an old git who had lost the plot and were clamouring for his dismissal. Rafa took us to 10th place, moved on to the Chinese League, and was mourned as a god. In Sir Bob's case, we really did have gold and didn't realise it. I don't think the evidence is quite as strong with Rafa. And you’re still here talking shite over 15 years later. Quite impressive really.

    Transfer rumours

Agreed, and even if he was paid the most/wanted to be paid the most, who would that have been particularly hard on? Perez, maybe? Dubravka at a push? He was the number nine and fulcrum of the team.
  16. I recognise Judge Holden's posting style but can't work out which poster he used to be.... County Durham Mag on his 20th account.
  17. Absolute fruitcake. Wonder who he is on here these days? My money's on GWN.

    Jamaal Lascelles

He was outstanding at the back end of his first season alongside Lascelles, a huge reason why we finished so strongly. It’s his injuries that concern me, not his ability.
  19. We've got Sewpa Steve to thank for that.
