Interesting mention of him in this article from the guy who was in charge of transfers at Brentford - http://statsbomb.com/2017/06/more-statistical-transfer-shopping-wide-forwards-for-the-champions-league/ Article discusses who Arsenal should be looking at and mentions him. That's what brought him back to my attention actually, had flagged him up in May through a similar method and checked him out on video. Think some of our fans would hate him (naturally), but he looks the business to me.

Would like to see us take a gamble on someone like Jose Izquierdo from Club Brugge. Sure we must be aware of him given our business in Belgium over the last couple of seasons. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jose-izquierdo/profil/spieler/147094 Right-footed left-winger is a must this summer. Getting one who is quick, direct and has an eye for goal would be splendid (plus he'd be within our budget). Work permit potentially an issue, though.

2010: 0 2011: 3 (Ba, Cabaye, Marveaux) 2012: 0 2013: 0 2014: 2 (Colback, Perez) 2015: 0 2016: 1 (Sels) 2017: 1 (Atsu) of them colback & marv were free transfers aye, marv in particular signed to get him ahead of other interest iirc - was amalfitano free as well? that being the case it's 4-5 over 7 years then Updated, as Amalfitano didn't officially join until July 1st (despite .com having him listed in May). We average less than 1 per year by July, basically. Ba, Colback and Marveaux were freebies. Cabaye and Atsu were clauses. Perez and Sels the only ones that were pure transfer deals, which I assume were done quickly due to competition from other clubs (and in Sels' case because pre-season training had begun due to Championship season starting sooner). It's massively tedious all this waiting around, but hopefully it means we're in for a busy July again!

I know it's a ball ache waiting for signings, but it's probably worth mentioning that we didn't start doing business until the players had returned for pre-season last season (and the season before that). We had Perez, Colback and De Jong in before the players returned in 2014 and 2013 was pretty quiet all round after our January splurge. Personal opinion is that Ashley just doesn't want to pay wages for no obvious return, but it could just be that things are generally slow going across the board until July hits.

They had about 5 clear-cut opportunities, didn't they?

Probably. Would be great if Given or Harper could come in for this. Harper is on 199 appearances for us and would be well up for it. He's injured, isn't he? Hasn't been on the bench for Hull in weeks.

Assume he'll just go with the same team that beat Chelsea, which is about the best we can hope for. Super sub Cisse will save him again.

Stop posting so much you bunch of gonks.

Tenuous to the point of brilliance. Spitting dabs, man.

Did Paul Dummett sneak out with a Santa hat on to keep morale up?
-
Good options on the bench at least. Ah, it's been a while since I've been able to be in here and be all sarcastic and stuff. Feels good man.

Aye, but who is their third choice? Some inexperienced scrub with no track record in the big league, I bet.
-
At least Gouffran is now ahead of it to make up for it. I can't recall a more wonky performance from a full-back. Surely Haidara would have been a better bet out here?

The right side of our defence is a footballing wasteland.

We're doing alright here like, both defences look crap. Canny game.

Sissoko is tremendous.

Are ITV accountable to anybody at all for being fucking garbage?
