As someone who's just been involved in a similar sort of thing - on the Dabo end of it - I'll be shocked if jail comes into it. I got compensation from the guilty party - who even had previous - and that was it. Haven't had the cash yet, either, and this is 5 months on. I wouldn't worry too much. The only thing, as Baggio said previously, is the worry of an example being made out of him. Hefty fine is surely the most likely outcome, though.

They won't do business with us but they'll be happy to use our obliging local hacks to get their revenge... And it was surely a case of West Ham trying to shaft us, before we got the better of them, as well?

What would be the point? Still a useful squad member and we don't exactly need the money. Money for an old player, wages off the books, new player in. Disagree 100%, especially after some of his pre-season performances on the right. It's bollocks anyway, like, but hypothetically I think it would be madness to get shot of him 2 days before the season starts. Probably a very valuable influence to have in the changing rooms and around the training ground and I'd be interested to see what Sam can "extract" from him, because he was starting to show his age under Roeder.

Getting nothing from the club anymore so has to resort to filling his pages with bollocks instead. Renders the Chronicle fairly redundant these days, unless you want a laugh.

More proof of the media being given nothing by the club/Ashley/Mort and having to make things up to fulfill their "NUFC Story" quota. It sells papers though, which is all that they're bothered about, I suppose it's the nature of the beast at the end of the day.

Given is out for 2 weeks and if we play that formation and line-up then I'll change my title to "Yorkie's Bitch".

Jason Euell, man!

Should have said: assuming we're playing 4-5-1, of course. Well spotted.
-
The choice between Martins and Solano, as I said in the other Bolton thread a couple of days ago, seems to be the only decision Big Sam has to "really" make now that Given is definitely out.

This thread is an excellent idea and could be used for the main site if we keep getting it up there early enough. "Newcastle-Online's expected team, as voted by our members..."

Absolutely brilliant stuff. Our overseas posters again proving that they're worth their weight in gold.

Obviously asking for too much money from the club and playing Sevilla and NUFC off against each other to see where he can do the best for himself. Probably better off without people like him at the club, if you ask me. He surely cannot have wanted £120k p/w though, that's utter bollocks. Oliver obviously is struggling for information from the club, as we've seen with the Enrique transfer fee, and now this.

I reckon we're still after a RB, like. After all the talk of Sam wanting Dyer's replacement plus four more, we're still after 2 players. Whether we get them or not is another matter, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us go for a lad who can play LB/CB or RB/CB, rather than an out-and-out fullback again. Still over 3 weeks to sign them, although it would have been ideal to have them in already.

Apart from the bit about Spurs (never liked them), I agree with you there. Thirded. Doc and Brummie add a lot to the board, while there's a good deal to be said for safc and 1878 as well. I wouldn't mind having one canny poster from each team on here, like. Just one though.

Nut is most definitely our resident songwriter. Puts that Lennon bloke to shame. I'm looking forward to this Enrique one, if you can be arsed, you've got some stretch to beat that Keane jingle mind.

Surely it's: Alan... Alan Smi-ith! Alan... Alan Smiiiiith!

I say, "yay", and I'd love it if it was an all-age singing section. What we need is one of these in every corner of the ground to transmit atmosphere all the way around. Can't just be young kids/teenagers though, it'd be great if everyone got involved under one umbrella.

SSN wins again.

I think we'll either win, lose or draw.

At home, maybe. Not from me when we we played away to the better teams, which is what we're doing on August 11th.

Given Carr Taylor Rozehnal N'Zogbia Geremi Butt Smith Solano Milner Viduka Only issues I can see are Given's fitness, the choice at left-back and whether Martins/Solano starts on the right. I'd imagine Nobby will start, with Oba coming on as an "impact" sub if things aren't going well or if the Peruvian doesn't have a great game. Think we'll be going there to battle, rather than play good football, but there should still be enough in that team to get a draw or a sneaky win. If that is the team I'd expect the bench to be something like: Harper, Ramage, Luque, Martins and Ameobi, which looks lopsided but isn't too bad when you consider there are 6 midfielders in the starting line-up already. Its probably not what I would like to see, but it's what I think will happen if there's no injury stuff between now and Saturday.

Frank Wiafe Danquah or something, innit?

Can't possibly be true. More shit journalism. He got three in one game for a start. He's got 7 in 14, if I'm not wrong. Fucking useless "Dom".
