Just a thought on Luques' plight: He gets a decent cross and slots it in. How many other decent through balls and crosses did he get last night? I don't know cos it wasn't on telly here..... My point is that week in, week out our service from the flanks and the middle is completely average, doesn't matter if it's LUque, shearer, Rooney or Eto, we aint going to get many goals.... I honestly think that Luque needs a run in the team and considering our striker situation and the fact he gave Roeder what he wanted: a goal from an opportunity, then he should play on saturday..... or we could stick a winger, midfielder or even a defender upfront instead of him.....get a life Roeder!

By the way "Magpie Ranger" was nicked off the original "I wanna be a Berwick Ranger" bluebigeek.gif Thats been sung since my dad's times (old git)!

By my reckoning he would of pocketed a clean Million for this season's transfer dealings bluebigeek.gif P.S. Anyone know where you sit your "how to rip of clubs" exams?

Very dissapointing! Fingers crossed that we have a fully fit 1st eleven for the next 4 months until we can get reinforcements/be let down again.... bluecool.gif

Aye, he's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Is what we need at the moment...someone capable of holding up the ball and fighting for titus's "sprayed" PASSES? Bit of a step down from Klose though

I watched the game ysterday and thought both marlon and zamora were pretty awful. Somebody on here mentioned harewood before and apart from one gilt edged opportunity that he missed he was invisible and just lumbered around like an overweight sumo...no thanks. As for Zamora ...I don't think he's that great a striker, he didn't get into any scoring positions and was just busy and closed people down. The goal was pure luck and what was supposed to be a cross for his mates was so bad that it went into the net.... tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Benitez has a concrete layout for his teams: Defensive base with hardworking but creative midfield. His philosophy is "not to lose games" in contrast with "winning games" (quoted when valencia won the title). You can see he has done this at Liverpool and now that he is happy with his defense and how the team plays he has added those attacking components that should make the difference for them. On another note I thought htey were abysmal on saturday, watched the game in a pub over here and was surprised at how disjointed they were and how bad the defense was for the first goal, three attackers could have nodded that free kick in as they were all unmarked at the back post. If hulse was a bit better and had some back up liverpool could have been on a loser. Didn't impress me at all. Bellamy was non-existent

I've often thought that Roeder has something against Luque, how the hell can chopra get more minutes.... I don't know. He does look a bit lazy when he plays but he has been showing in the friendlies that he can play a bit. The only reason I can see that he didn't play last night was that somebody has shown an interest in signing him otherwise it doesn't add up: 5 man midfield and virtually no attacking threat?

Kuyt held the ball up well and offered himself to the midfield at every opportunity, brought other players into play and worked his arse off... What he failed to do, or others failed to help him do.. was score a goal. Playing up front on your own with carvalho and the other centre half (great game) would be difficult for any player, add to that the fact that he never got a decent cross all evening... For me the only negative was that he seemed woefully slow. Not sure on this one as I haven't seen him play enough. Would contribute to general team play but does he have what it takes to score 20 in the prem?

If we got offered 5-6 million for him from a spanish club I would take their arm off. Like people have mentioned he just doesn't seem interested and it makes my blood boil when he doesn't go for a 50/50 ball. I really liked him when he played for depor in Spain but he just hasn't produced the goods, perhaps an idea would be to get the 5-6 million and spend it on our first target : Boa Morte (has had an excellent season)

That's more or less how I see it! We never really thought freddy was capable of bringing in Hiddink or Hitzfeld, did we???
-
Well, I can't say I'm dissapointed.... He really hasn't done badly BUT, I do have a slight niggle that "perhaps" we could have done better and that FF has taken the easy (knee jerk) route again???

Sorry to be a bit of a stickler but is there anything official yet or is it just hearsay (probably heresy where we're concerned!)? My mate from glasgow told me that newcastle had inquired into getting roeder onto the scottish coaching course or whatever their equivalent is.... (he also told me we were getting O'niel weeks ago so take trhis with a pinch of salt??)
