A martins - owen partnership is something to really look forward to. As martins plays quite well as the "point" of attack and owen likes to play behind the main striker I think we will scare defenses shitless next year if both of them are capable of staying fit... Add a couple of decent defenders and we could have a half decent first team???

babayaro played pretty well on saturday. He is miles better than edgar, ramage, carr etc.. He should play on both european games aswell to get him match fit and to get some games under his belt, same goes for duff, charles, emre etc.etc..

The thing that stood out most, from the norm, was his use of the ball...superb. Looked back to his best.

Aye, I agree with the majority on this one: Baba ain't the best but he's certainly better than what we have had replacing him on the left wing up to now. Just the fact that he can pass the ball with his left foot gives him much more options and he CAN pass a ball instead of give it away to opposition players....

He wasn't bad yesterday but was caught sleeping a couple of times as well as bramble was. What he does add is aerial prescence and didn't lose a header all match, he also seems composed with the ball at his feet instead the lump it as far forward as possible approach. He's only played twice so we can't rreally judge him yet but he does look interesting...

After a lack of defensive signings and the glimmer of hope that Martins instilled I honestly thought that mid table mediocrity would be the best we could achieve until the Jan window when defenders would be brought in. Gareth barry looked pretty solid when he was on...(another one who "slipped through the net"). Wright philips was a thorn in their side all night. The real masterclass was given by Xavi in their midfield, didn't give a pass away all night and was involved in EVERYTHING...think Glenn needs to go out and look at him (couple of times at least- just to make sure...)

I also think that we should only replace him with someone of certified pedigree. I think if we give him resources in the summer he may turn us around, I would like to be pleasantly surprised... The thing that worries me is his lack of "pulling power", what players, decent ones, would want to come and play for Glenn Roeder? This is my main worry at the moment. Also some of his glaring mistakes in the defesive line ups of our team, he seems to go for senior players although they are crap and this annoys.

p.s. woodgate wasn't so impressive. what a difference Terry makes to our defence!!!

anyone who wanted carrick should be ashamed of themselves, every time he had the ball he either passed it to a spaniard or got tackled and lost it. 2-3 yards off the pace of the game... We were a bit toothless in attack, crouch fouled them every time, can't he jump without pushing the defender downwards, what a tool!! Dyer was better in the first half than the second and was Ok, nothing more nothing less

Coloccini is a solid defender and is highly thought of in Spain... I wouldn't think they will drop the price, but it's a good deal at 2.7 million especially when you look at the defenders in the premier league and how much they go for. Go on Glenn, dip yer wick!!

Aye, thinking about it, it would seem more likely that chelsea would be a more appropriate destination for him: First class back up for Terry and Carvalho.
