Dear supporter Florian Thauvin has become Newcastle United's fifth signing of the summer, after completing a switch from Marseille. The highly-rated 22-year-old French winger, who can also be deployed as a forward, has agreed a five-year contract on Tyneside and will wear the number 20 shirt. As part of the deal, Remy Cabella has joined Marseille on loan until the end of the 2015/16 campaign, with an obligation to buy at the end of the season subject to certain criteria being met. Born in the French city of Orléans, Thauvin made his professional debut for Grenoble in March 2011 before signing for Bastia. After some impressive performances for the Corsican side – including starring in their Ligue 2 title triumph of 2012 – he moved to Lille in January 2013. He returned to Bastia on loan for six months and in September of that year, Thauvin moved to Marseille, where he made 81 appearances over the last two seasons, scoring 15 goals. The highly-rated international has represented France at under-18, under-19, under-20 and under-21 level, and was a key part of the Les Bleus team which lifted the 2013 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. “I am delighted to be a Newcastle United player,” said Thauvin. "I have come from France to a really big club and am very happy to be here. “It is a big honour to know that Newcastle have been after me for such a long time and that they wanted me that much. They have put their trust in me and I am looking forward to playing for the team.” Newcastle United head coach Steve McClaren added: “Florian is a player the Club have been watching for a long time and I am delighted that we have been able to sign him. He is a perfect signing for this Club – someone who is young, with great potential and is one of the best young players in Europe. “He is an exciting, creative talent who can score goals and make assists, and we believe he will have a very bright future at Newcastle.”

The Club can confirm that due to the nature of the fixture tomorrow (Saturday, 1st August) it has obtained the necessary permissions in order for Chancel to be involved in the squad to face Borussia Monchengladbach. The Club would like to thank Anderlecht for their co-operation in this matter. The player has an appointment overseas midweek to make his formal visa application, which we expect to be issued in order that he can be available for selection for the Club's first game of the Premier League season.

Newcastle United have announced the signing of Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba after the club received a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) for the player at an FA hearing held earlier today. The deal is subject to Mbemba receiving the appropriate visa. Mbemba becomes Newcastle United’s third signing of the summer, after completing the switch from Anderlecht. The 20-year-old DR Congo international defender has agreed a five-year deal on Tyneside. Mbemba is now required to apply for his visa overseas, with the hope that he is then able to return to join his new teammates in Newcastle midweek. Born in Kinshasa, Mbemba played youth football for a number of local sides in his homeland before joining Belgian giants Anderlecht in 2011. After rising through the ranks at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, he became a first-team regular and played a key role in Anderlecht being crowned Belgian Pro League champions in 2014, as well as lifting back-to-back Belgian Super Cups in 2013 and 2014. He played in all six of Anderlecht’s group stage games in the Champions League last season, scoring both goals in their 2-0 home win over Galatasaray in November 2014. Speaking of his move, Mbemba said: "I'm very, very happy to be here. This is the biggest league in the world and I'm very proud to wear the shirt for this team and play in this league. “I'm going to do everything I can to help make the supporters happy, to help out my team-mates and to bring something extra to the team. "I know the team very well. I've watched the Premier League and I know this is a massive team with big players and with a great coach. “I've come here to Newcastle United because it's a very good move in my career to play for such a famous club. I am excited for the season ahead."
