Yeah I do think part of it is that he is moving at a million miles an hour when he often doesn't need to. Just needs to relax a touch but I think that will come. He should have done better with that chance I agree. He's no prime-Isak, but he's getting better slowly.

That seems a harsh assessment to me. Made some neat runs and his awareness/nous has improved significantly IMO.

Poor quality game. Weight of passing in the final third has been abysmal in parts. Not seeing much of the dividends from all that training ground time.

Bit of a nothing game for Newcastle too tbf

Great goal. They've been much the better team, though it sticks in the throat to say.
-
No way he's making that run in a Newcastle shirt. He was basically Nick Pope up front while he was here.

The Villa fans who were so upset at Emery for throwing the Spurs game are likely a bit more chipper tonight.
-
Yup. They seem overwhelmed.

Forest's conservatism is so ill-judged. The lack of off the ball movement is a little dumbfounding for an occasion like this. Are they just knackered from their recent efforts?

That's a nice pen

Throw in Wissa for a legendary triple threat.
-
Kane's mobility showing up today. Struggling to get in the game at all.
-
Massive intensity and energy to open this second half. Game will get stretched later.

The Nick Pope special!

Wonder if they'd consider a Harvey Barnes for Kvara trade swap.

I'd not enjoy winning with that brand of football personally. If you're an up and coming team, or a minnow, there's great pride and joy from playing and winning like that - but if you have the players and resources of Arsenal, and the legacy of Wenger, Thierry Henry and the Invincibles behind you - just don't see the joy in it. Where is the art? Football becomes an irrelevance to success. Why watch, just follow BBC live text and extract your joy or sorrow from that.

Yeah but Willock has more height. NO THANK YOU ENDRICK.

I respect Emery for being ruthless enough to throw this tbh, even if I do hope they fail - Howe could learn a thing or two. However, I find this faux-oblivious nonsense from the BBC maddening

I don't get why people hate him so much either Not a fan of his music but he seems harmless-ish, albeit a bit corny.

Delighted that: - my boy enjoyed his first game, - to get three points, - that Murphy stepped into the cone and then wore it on his head (my boy cracked up ) - Osula keeps bagging goals and playing well (although he got overzealous with a few chances!) - the spiral of poor results ended - Miley continued to do well - Bruno's leadership shone through - to see Ameritoon for a quick pint just now - lovely guy - to watch everyone in Newcastle get mortal But that was a turgid performance. I'm losing words for what to say about Pope. His reinstatement to the team is baffling. We're living through a special time to watch a professional footballer playing at the highest level - with a decade of experience under his belt - who kicks a ball like a startled giraffe every game. The inability for the team to pass the ball second half was beyond a team lacking in confidence, it was a team devoid of substance or grist. Pope booting it long was somehow the most viable means for the team to advance the ball - which is an appalling place to be. The defensive frailty was still glaring. I'm not normally a fan of his gameplay but I have to say I thought Jacob Murphy worked really hard and showed grit. Seeing Gordon, Ramsey and Woltemade on the touchline - all seemingly fit - was bizarre. Struggle to believe the ends justified the means when Brighton so easily could have won. Ultimately, I hope Howe deserves to end the season on a high (or less of a low), if that's how it is to end. A few more wins this year would be fitting.

Curse shattered! My kid is on a sporting heater. Shocking performance mind you I'll take it.

Confident the curse gets broken today. Lovely day. No Amanda Staveley at breakfast this time.
-
An unbelievable record against PSG for sure.

This is a bad faith argument.
