Debt and equity are both types of finance with different rights attached to each. If you consider Ashley and the club as two separate entities, and the club owes Ashley money. As he owns 100% of the club (ie. no minority interest) by cancelling the debt he doesn't lose the money owed to him, because the liabilities of the club are decreased when the debt is cancelled (thereby increasing the equity value of the club which is calculated as assets less liabilities). It's just moving money from one pocket to the other basically. Debt to equity can be convertible bonds and stuff like that as well, though - so instead of someone paying you back, you get increased ownership of them[/sorry if this comes across as prontonising] Okay, I think I get it. How would it help us if he converted the debt into equity, then? Who is the 'us' in that sentence? If you mean the supporters/customers, not much. We have a stronger balance sheet / are more commercially attractive, but unless Ashley plans to sell it doesn't really further our aims in and of itself, as far as I can see. Your post was the first I've heard of it though so maybe I'm missing something.

Bertrand to Villa on loan for the season. Intra-divisonal loans remain a travesty. Such an eminently stupid, unfair and easily solved issue. Another black mark against the night sky canvas that is the FA.

You never know if Jonas was out of line and Pardew asked him to find a new club in a respectful manner, or if Pardew didn't have the decency or professionalism to explain to such a good servant to the club why he'd been left out in the cold. It's just one of those where each party makes out the other party makes the other out to be the villain, and you don't know who to believe... ...unless it involves Newcastle's management in which case it's almost always the player.

Citeh, Arse, Liverpool -2 treble

He'd hate it. We'd be bankrupt after buying the fax paper for the bids. You're underestimating our resources, Skeletor. We hired a guy the other who can pick up a telephone to anyone, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. Now that's skill.

Ashley would love that. Get some young English players in who will have higher resale value later
-
I don't know, they seem to hire better and better managers. Probably nab Bielsa or bring Heynckes out of retirement!

Be funny if Poch reneges on his statement and stays Bluff called, I s'pose...

Bit of turmoil at Southampton - the much coveted 8th place could be ours! Break out the bubbly, open-top bus here we come

Yeah, good luck with that one Moyes
-
Doubt he gives a shit. Fans aren't his be all, end all... clearly - but he cares about them in as much as he wants full stadiums and shirts(, cardigans and onesies) flying off the rack. It's a brilliant move from the pack of bastards.

Pardew as "on the side of the fans" is an Ashley masterstroke tbh.

There ought to be a gif equipped with his full arsenal of shite excuses but the thing would take too long to load.

Shit shoes though

Spurs spent 304000% more than us.

Fuck off SEMTEX, has to be a place for Glen Johnson and Frank Lampard in that Prem inclusive World XI.

How many consecutive weeks has he reffed prior?
-
Bit barmy that the day after such a horrendous decision, the BBC top sports story is about Pardew apologising to Pellegrini as opposed to Jones being bent as a £15 note
-
Beeb saying £3m move?

Class that Bruno Well done
-
Would play him on the left, and Gouff up top. Remy is very average in the box, good outside it though.

No World Cup for Nasri. Helloooo Hatem
