I'm not massively invested in the discussion full stop, but it definitely denigrates the award if he won it. No way on earth he was the best player last year. If you were putting together a team last year comprised of anyone you like, you'd be wrong to choose Messi as your first pick. Any argument to the contrary feels disingenuous/based on sentimentality. Doesn't matter one jot anyway.

Fantastic effort after the equaliser. Can't quibble with the application and drive to win. A point away isn't bad, but it is slightly disappointing. In a way I'm glad Pope's pathetic punching has led to a meaningful detriment to the team. Maybe they might actually address the problem now. All you need is a jugs machine and 10 or so fat blokes off the street to stand in the penalty box. Fire in a 100 balls a day until he can catch the fucking thing consistently. I know he's not working on his distribution so he's got plenty of time for it.

Focus second half has to be on keeping possession, taking the sting and emotion out of the game after that first half.

It's a bit trite but the impact of the season is on full display there. Can't fault the commitment but injuries, suspension and European football taking their toll. Can't keep busting a gut to get to loose balls etc every game like we have been. Can see the freshness in Wolves' play at times. Lucky to be up, but we've been the better side. Hope we can steal a win and get some rest. Would be big for morale too.

I'm only messing. Need to give you my future tickets!

Delighted for you.

I was thinking that, but there's no inexorable Karmic equilibrium with these things. Could so easily undeservedly lose two games on the spin now. I've become quite melancholy about it after a very mature and philosophical outlook last night

Yesterday was a bit of a missed opportunity for him on reflection. A few moments where he was put through, and he couldn't do anything with it, or show anything special.
-
Yup, includes some goalless draws.
-
I know it's more than a little self-important but I genuinely feel guilty for attending yesterday.

Surreal trip continues. Ghodoussi and Staveley are on the table next to me at breakfast. They thought we played well second half but that CL is ruthless.
-
Sorry everyone. Probably the best I've seen them play IRL though. Seemed more vulnerable from our own set pieces than Dortmund. Thought we were a bit too direct first half, not really taking care of the ball. Have to give credit to Dortmund, they were really fluid on the break. And showed a bit of incisiveness even when we were set. Second half was good. Couldn't believe we didn't score, but haven't seen the replays. Feel completely fucking cursed tbh. Convinced I'll never see them score. Each chance seemed more gilt-edged than the last. Didn't leave feeling that despondent but injuries and fixtures don't bode well. Think there was a lot of unwarranted disparaging comments about Dortmund before the game. They were the better team IMO, although a draw would have been a fair result.

Got a ticket. Utterly horrendous record at games (must be an aggregate score of circa NUFC 0-13 opposition), apologies all.
-
Thought so. Dudes in the lift didn't seem like fans.

What hotel are Dortmund likely to be staying in?

Well that was class. Still very unnatural to feel so comfortable throughout. Not sure if it's because we have a group of players with more animated facial expressions than in previous years, but it does seem like they get properly pissed off with each other when someone fluffs a chance, or misplaces the final ball. Gordon and Wilson in particular seem very impassioned

Bruno is in top nick.
-
This is the shittest derby going.
-
West Ham were decent, and unlucky with the ref decisions. Kudus looks a player!
-
Fair result. Not the best performance, but understandable after a huge midweek effort. Missed Gordon. Need a few more playmakers next year. Useful point overall, even though it never feels that way when you get a draw from having held a lead.
-
Very flat first half. Difficult to mentally transition from counterpunching to being the team that has to break down a team looking to play on the counter. Isak having to drop too deep, no one in the box. Chuck on Wilson to play up top with him IMO.
-
Yeah was happy for them to win in Europe last year. They also seem to like Newcastle (based on a small selection of Twitter accounts). While they have some terrible fans, all clubs do. I'm sure we'll both have more gripes with one another by the day's end, and particularly if we enjoy continued success

Pardew on Bruno signing extension:

They should have gone straight to Local Hero IMO.

Back to despising England after a brief respite. Henderson and Philips ffs. They'll waste Bellingham's golden years, you can put your house on it.
