    Alan Pardew

Pardew's pay-off is a year of his contract. So even though the headlines all screamed out about stability due to his eight year deal, in reality it's more like a one year rolling contract. The (alleged?) one-year payout aside, do you think the Ashley regime would be too prideful to sack him having issued an eight-year deal though? I know they're not overly concerned with the desires of/stick from fans, but it'd make them look a bit silly to sack him having issued such a contract (though the silly thing was actually issuing the contract in the first place).

When did football turn into a sick joke? Horrible news. Poor guy.

Nah,people still picking splinters out of their backside should feel bad. They're part of the reason we're here today. Fuck being nice. Hopefully some will learn that their lack of ambition filters through to the club. We've been coasting for a day as humiliating as this for ages. If you feel bad because you backed him, don't back a loser manager next time.

Pray for Willow. I predict he will say the performance is unacceptable, that he is sorry for the fans after such a "wonderful" European adventure, and say he is angry with the players. He has lied, patronised, condescended and played the support of the club at every step of his tenure, I expect no different from the thoroughly unlikable PR man Will shoulder no responsibility as usual.

Let's give him two more seasons. We need stability above all else. Then maybe we can give the bag of concrete in my back garden a go for a decade or so - that's sturdy as fuck. Need at least two more seasons to check Pardew isn't the next architect of Brazil 1970 mk II.

This needed to happen to get the moderates off the fence.

The destruction of their own personal property and causing injury themselves to compound losing to us is just inexplicable

    Papiss Cissé

Even if you ignore those two (and for the dinked effort I don't think not hitting the target is an issue of luck btw - objectively it's just not hitting the target - the deflected one, fair enough) he still had chances and spurned them over the two legs. The header he got far too much on, the Bigi pass which he failed to control, the first offside goal where he could have been on-side and still made the ball. That's a hat-trick of chances he could have had in addition to the tap-in header he did get. I'm not saying "get rid" before there's any OTT reaction to my posts, but he did waste a fair few chances - I don't know how that can be denied. His overall game was good though as I've said.

NSIS I'd have said Cabaye but while he disappeared over both legs Cisse turned up. Why only consider the two matches with Benfica? How about the likes of Ben Arfa, Mbiwa, Cabaye (indeed) or Krul? If anything I'd say the big clubs will look at Cisse's lack of consistency and steer well clear. Ben Arfa, too injury prone. Mbiwa, hasn't shown enough yet. Cabaye, too many times he has games like against Benfica. Didn't think about Krul, maybe. Cisse is the most likely, Bayern were strongly interested before he came here. Well, if I was the manager of a "top club" I would look at the chances Cisse missed in those two matches you conventiently use to discard Cabaye as a stronger candidate to succeed at a higher level and think his 'erraticness' may have cost us the tie.. Yeah but you have an agenda. He had two excellent all-round games in both legs and was desperately unlucky not to score more than the two he got. Luck has nothing to do with it. He played well but was wasteful.
