Goal-line technology isn't reliant on image processing AFAIK, so it wouldn't be reliant on freeze frame shots. See the GoalRef tech in the link below. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/world-of-sport/goal-line-technology-does-164718522.html I agree that it's a small, infrequently contested issue compared to offside decisions, but there's no reason not to improve/eliminate a problem which can be eliminated. There can be potentially large ramifications from these infrequently contested decisions though it must be said!

Exactly. I don't understand why goal line decisions should be so special, when many other game-deciding decisions will not be subject to review. They should just have a video referee permanently reviewing pictures, constantly in radio contact with the ref, and be done with it. Well IMO, decisions which historically could go one way or another were not subject to the subjective assessment of the referees/officials for the lulz, it was because there was no way to objectively know whether the ball had crossed the line or not. This is no longer the case and it is a very remediable deficiency of the game. There's nothing inherently nostalgic or sentimental about s*** disallowed goals or goals that never were We'll probably always argue the toss over tackles etc, and that's fine. This isn't like that though whatsoever IMO. It is black and white. Anyway, I wonder if this will eventually be implemented at every professional level of the game. There are plenty of other decisions which are clear-cut. Notably offsides, wrong corners. I don't see how they can justify not using technology for them too if videos become involved. Eh? How on earth are offsides and corners clear cut with technology? Papisto's second disallowed goal is still drawing differing opinions ffs Who a ball touched last/what phase of play/when a ball left someone's foot are much more problematic to coordinate on a technological scale than whether a ball crossed a line or not (because it doesn't matter who touched the ball last before it did/didn't cross the line). I'd say the vast majority of offsides are clear cut, it's just a case of deciding whether any of the attacker is ahead of the defence. Most can be shown with a couple of replays on MotD to be correct or not. If they have to be ALWAYS 100% clear cut then that doesn't apply to goalline decisions either, some of those have been unresolved too. Well yes, the whole point of introducing the technology at all is that it would have to be 100% correct. With the proposed technology goal-line technology, they would be. There would be no more unresolved decisions whether the ball crossed the line or not. The same couldn't be done for offsides.

He'd need his technique too and a lot more strength, but I see what you mean.

Krul MYM Colo Saylor Haidara Tiote Anita Sissoko Cabaye Marv Cisse for me like. Pardew will include Jonas for the workrate though, most likely at the expense of Marv. Obertan seems to be inexplicably ahead of Anita in the pecking order too.

I agree with Wullie. Really like Martinez for that reason. Had several opportunities to move to clubs where they'd throw cash at him and turned them down.

Wenger's comments seem on the money IMO: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21513315 Bayern's ferocious start to the game was fatal to Arsenal.
-
Tie over after 20 minutes. Ouch.
-
They're chasing the game in a panicky way. You stop reading after that part of my post?
-
Really don't think Arsenal are a million miles off, but Bayern starting out of the blocks so well + an early goal has messed Arsenal up. They've lost their heads, collected bookings for fun, left themselves really open and conceded a second. Bayern have squeezed their advantage magnificently though, it must be said. Big game team (well, not last year ).

Feel bad for them tbh.

Fantastic standard of play this.

Ramsey? MIIISTAKE.

If you go back a few months, this is exactly what I wrote when I stopped betting on a regular basis. Only put a bet or two on every month probably now. I was stuck in that strange equipoise for a very long time though. Weird shit.

As a back-up Kolo Toure is better than Williamson (even at this stage of his career) IMO, and the age-criteria in our recruitment policy is only applicable to our fee-paying transfers I would imagine.
-
Kolo available on a free this summer. Wants to stay in the Premiership, wonder if Ashley would be interested in getting him in as cheap back-up should Colo leave.
-
Disagree - I think they both look happiest playing their football together (not that their happiness is the be all, end all but you know what I mean, I hope).

I'm not that worried, really. Sissoko is doing amazingly for his price. My main concern is Papisto who I bought in midway through the last GW for Bucktooth. I'm trying my hardest to get behind him, and I appreciate how hard he is working. I've now invested my FF fortunes in him, so hoping he can't start to grab a few braces here and there now
-
His price has dropped significantly, I don't imagine it'll be going anywhere barring a spectacular comeback vs Southampton. Given his importance/stature, I'd very surprised at anything other than a cotton wool approach, despite any bluster you hear from the club/Pardew about how close he is to a return. Certainly not 90 minutes vs Kharkiv or Southampton, you wouldn't think. I also want to see how we'll deploy him with Sissoko now taking up a rather advanced role (almost off the shoulder of Cisse at times). I've got Sissoko in my FF team, but if HBA displaces him as that faux-forward, then I might take the 1.3m hit or whatever the difference is and buy HBA.

The 1-goal margin win was a very shrewd bet
