Did well I thought, one of two creative sparks in our side first half. Did well to create some openings from nothing on the left flank, but always a bit too much to do. Worked hard and was unlucky to be taken off IMO. Hit a very tame header from point blank that he ought to have buried though.

For the record, I am not disputing that it's great that we won (indeed, I believe I highlighted I was ecstatic) - but I see nothing wrong in acknowledging a poor performance with the continuation of some worrying trends.

Getting better. Still worried about him playing from so deep given he'll lose possession from time-to-time (which is part and parcel of being a creative force) and he won't be able to "do a Jonas" and chug back like a steam train. Marked lack of familiarity with his team mates thus far too - which should improve over time. The exception to this was Marveaux who he seemed to strike up an understanding with almost immediately.

I appreciate Wigan are fighting for their lives, but I don't think that should detract from a poor performance by our side - and neither our opposition's predicament nor three points should not exculpate any valid criticism of our performance. As I mentioned, happy with three points [ecstatic, in fact] but highly concerned that Santon is not yet starting, Obertan is still starting and how slow we are starting games.

Did you really expect us to piss all over them? Wigan are already fighting for their lives, they had reason to be a lot more motivated than us. Grinding out a result in a game like this is pretty encouraging if you ask me. I expected us, not unreasonably, to play much better than that.

The balance is bad, man. I know I'm swept up in the heat of the moment at present, but Obertan can get to fuck (I will retract this later ). He takes about five minutes to get up off the ground. He'll never come to meet the ball, he'll always try to roll his man and we subsequently lose possession.

Really poor first half. As usual, we come out of the blocks as fast as Matty Pattison. Cabaye and Obertan have been anonymous. Raylor has been a liability and Martinez has clearly just told his players to target him. This has meant Jonas has had to drop back way too far and pick up possession with his back to goal. Wigan time-wasting from the off, too. Frustrating as fuck. Was that Pardew's attempt to bring back the crowds to SJP...
