  1. Pardew said we're not playing our best team. Focusing on giving people minutes. Maybe Barton can do the introductions between Tiote and Cabaye in the centre circle before kick-off against Arsenal?

  5. Nolan was sold this summer, Barton has been released this summer, and the Carroll money has not been invested adequately this summer. All of that has occured this summer, yet Jose has looked like a player who has wanted out for the past 8 months at the very least, something that turned into a running gag on here but imo had some substance. I have very little doubt that his mind was made up long before this summer's "inactivity", which has merely turned out to be a very convenient excuse where he can turn round and say "it's not me who wants out, it's the owner/chairman who is forcing me out!!!". Said at the time that his most recent twitter outburst looked like being an attempt to force a sale without handing a transfer request in, i.e. rip into the owner knowing full well what he's like, and given what the Star has said about the price dropping (yes, I know it's the Star), nothing about that opinion has changed on this front. Do you not think that it entirely plausible, nay probable, that the reason Enrique wanted out for such a long time was because he knew earlier than the fans/the public/the media what Ashley was and how little ambition he had for the club? So rather than this summer being the excuse, as you suggest, it is the inexorable next phase of the plan which he knew when Hughton was sacked and Carroll was sold etc In terms of fact pattern, that fits better than what you're suggesting IMO. Really don't see how someone who gave his heart and soul sticking it out with us during our CC season can reasonably face such unjustified criticism.
  6. He never said that. I'd be interested to hear of players who don't want to play Champions League football though. Read two posts up from your last one. Are you suggesting those clubs have all come in for him? As far as media reports go, only Liverpool have tabled a bid for him.
  7. Are you actually taking the piss? Jose doesn't want to play for us. If you want to judge the wisdom of offloading Nolan and Barton, wait till Joey moves on and see the level they're both at. Aye SSR, but add in the context of all of Nolan, Barton, Enrique and Carroll going... and no substantial reinvestment.
  8. Because there are still players going out on that pitch every week that we have to prove that we are the best fans in the world to. With due respect, isn't that somewhat akin to the action of a pissing contest? "We're here supporting with our money no matter what" - irrespective of action which may represent a greater good for the club?
  9. Maybe deserving of its own thread, but: Without descending into a slanging match, what reason is there for fans not to boycott the club financially at this point? Unless you think Ashley's is on course to sell-up soon, and these last few horrible transfers are the price we are paying to achieve this - I don't see why fans would pump money into the arsehole's account. I understand the perspective that fans care about the club, even if the owner is a twat - but without getting rid of him the fans have no club of their own. The club can never push on to what the fans want. It'll be undermined at every stage - everything else is just a stall. Sometimes to create you have to destroy, and all that? Level-headed sensible replies only please.

    Alan Pardew

Even he will know he should just shut up, for once. There's actually nothing to say at this point. Otter might be able to conjure up something more realistic, but I'll have a whack at it: "Well, it's a big blow for us - but if a player has his head turned, and a good price comes in for him - you've got to do what's right for the club, shake hands, be men and move on. We've got to pull together, and not let this disrupt what will be a hard fought season - and it doesn't get tougher than Arsenal... so we've got to make sure we're in the right frame of mind for that".
  11. Can't remember the poster whose boycott thread was pelted with figurative rotten tomatos, but I'm not going to be investing another dime in the club until they're gone. I'll watch, follow, support etc... but not financially. Not trying to incite others to do the same, btw.
  12. Yup. Him leaving = bad news. Him leaving to Liverpool = extra sickening. The fee is only relevant in so far as I hope it hurts Liverpool's wallet for the future. They may as well be donating to the RSPCA though.
  13. This couldn't have helped. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,63771.msg3105126.html#msg3105126 He'd been acting unnecessarily hostile to just about everyone for a few days, tbh.

  16. They're not meekly accepting the regime. They're trying to do something about it - even if it is futile. Die on your feet than on your knees etc [/iMO]
  17. Riding his natural talent tbf, he could have been the key part of any midfield, his talent is no less than Gerrards imo. Get your hat on sharpish
  18. What a classy-looking fixture btw. Has the look of a Eufa Cup tie to it.
