Great finish from Villa
-
Is Villa playing?

Considering £6k on Germany -1 as long as it's not in any of Neil's bets. £666 return.
-
Yeah, Neil stop being an arse tell us what you're betting on man.

Don't really think you've addressed the issue raised between the dichotomy of what you think will happen and what you want to happen. Also, have you ever bet on a NUFC rival? I'm not going to pursue it anymore - if you don't feel comfortable betting on it, you don't feel comfortable betting on it. Doesn't matter. You seem to do okay betting without NUFC. The way you've phrased it is warped by your own, clearly strong, personal convictions on the matter. Could just as easily be "Desperate for us to win, but it's highly doubtful seeing as we're playing Lovenkrands on the right wing and Steven Taylor at left-midfield. Would love a hattrick from either of them, but 12/1 is a good price for neither of them to get a hattrick - at least the day will be mitigated somewhat". End of the day, in the same way no one can tell you that your support for the team is deficient (for any reason), you can't really question the support of the team of a fan who wants them to win just as badly as you but expects a loss all the same. -

Just as you betting on us getting relegated had nothing to do with it, one person using blood money on a season ticket had nothing to do with us getting promoted. For the record, I didn't bet on it, but there's nothing wrong with the principle of it. Have you ever put a bet on a rival team winning? Surely you should feel grief stricken for betting on something that ultimately is detrimental to NUFC? This is absurd. Wanting the best for your team and making money on what you think will objectively happen are so far removed from one another. -

Don't need an analogy. Newcastle getting relegated is sad, but contrary to the bollocks about football being more important than life or death - it's not. Or torture. How about this one? A prudent and judicious Newcastle fan who bet on Newcastle getting relegated in 2008/09, was able to use the proceeds to buy a season ticket he otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford - which contributed to the ticket revenue which paid the footballers who got the team promoted the following season. Is that really what you want Kaizero, Newcastle to not get promoted? IS IT!? -

Yes, you're choosing to make money from something bad that will happen irrespective of whether you do or don't make money off it. Is that immoral? Well, morals are subjective and opinions may vary, but... no. There's no need for an analogy man - the only reason to introduce an analogy into the situation is to drum up the sympathy of an animal being brutalised! -
Yup, and the BBC article have a caption under his picture saying he has also withdrawn from the Northern Ireland squad too - bit of a Ms Doubtfire moment for him, no doubt.

I always bet quite heavily on Liverpool when we go to Anfield. Don't see what the big fuss is - my bet does not influence the game. My heart wants us to win, my head knows we will lose. Why wouldn't you try to put a silver lining (money) on a bad thing (NUFC losing)? -
Very humbly written and a good article - can't say I agree about four points all but guaranteeing safety. I'm very concerned about our next two games as we are both Tiote-less and Jose-less and do not share his optimism. Wolves are playing very, very well. Newcastle are magnificent at playing badly on their day, too and I struggle to think of another team that plays quite as poorly as us when they play poorly. I worry but hope for the best.

Quality thread (for entertainment purposes). The living legend, Skirge.
-
Blackburn's form is promising too. We're 16th form-wise.
-
Two of them Tiote-less, no less. Eep. Can't imagine what squad morale must be like..... We'll be in that all too familiar situation of following the games of others with more expectancy and hope than we follow our own methinks. One small saving grace is that, for the meanwhile at least, our GD is still one extra point despite going negative on Saturday.
-
Fair enough. Perhaps not applicable in this case then. Massive shame for the guy though either way.
-
Yeah, I saw that earlier. Real shame tbh. Good season so far. Must be highly frustrating for a club such as Bolton - who are somewhat similar to ourselves and don't have a tremendous deal of depth - some oaf from a big club knocks out one of their key first teamers for six months at the cost of three games. Justice? No where in sight. The idea of the offender sitting out the same period as the "victim" for really bad tackles seems fair to me. Didn't see this challenge though tbf, not sure how poor a challenge was/if it was malicious/reckless etc. De Jong would have to serve three consecutive career sentences, no doubt.
-
My timeline: Upset Hughton was dismissed. Upset Pardew was appointed. Expected Pardew to fail. Upset Pardew is beginning to fail. (It's early doors, especially given he has a five and a half year deal but the signs are not promising thus far).
-
You have the worst superhero power ever. You could at least do us the good grace of betting a token £1 on the opposite of what we bet every week, you bastard.
-
Edit: Well, I would have lost the tenner apparently Still a good bet though.
-
For the life of me I don't know why I didn't see this fixture and not at least put a tenner on 0-0. Must me losing it.
-
Me too.

He seems to have regressed in that aspect of his game. Defensively he's usually very solid but he doesn't seem to be as effective going forward anymore. Baines, for example, is far superior in terms of an attacking impact. Y'know, just off the top of his head No, but you are right I'm just being a sod

That £0.5bn statistic is staggering.
