No - I mean if there is any ambiguity as to the potential of the player to become club trained, it will be clarified as and when we loan him out. Not speaking about any inclusion in List A as it stands.

Hall would have been home grown at Newcastle if we'd bought him during the close season (I think it's up to jun 30th but not at a computer to double check) prior to the start of the season we took him on loan. Messed up might be a strong way of putting it, it might not have been an option and he may have only been available from when we signed him. Kruul could have been home grown at club but we loaned him out too much so he couldn't complete the 3 years here. My point was to say that I'm pleased we seem to be more focused on providing more players for the 4 spots beyond only the 2 in use (Alex Murphy and Joe white) after Longstaff goes.

If all we end up doing is driving up the Ekitike price to something stupid that Liverpool end up paying, it's still a win. As I'm guessing he's not the only striker in the world we're looking at, we can just move to the next in line for comparative peanuts and win the PSR battle. I'm not sure how we can come out of this situation in any way except positively.

You have to think that for once, we've done things pretty quickly in getting Elanga, that if we hadn't, we'd have ended up not getting him because of the Gibbs-White situation. I don't think Forrest had any plans to sell both, just one of them if there were interest. If Elanga was still on the books, I see them selling Gibbs-White to Spurs with a lot less (no) fuss than currently being kicked up, and whomever coming in for Elanga after would have been quoted stupid money. But because it's the other way, Forrest get shafted and we got a steal.

I don't think I can knock a player for wanting to improve and visualising that improvement in a year's time really, it's the archetypal Eddie Howe player mindset - the desire to improve, and the willingness to be coached.

Personally, it makes no odds to me but 14 Isak is his thing, he's making his own legacy in that number, like Robert 32. If he wants the 9 it's his but would respect him a lot for sticking to 14 and making that number his own.

Watched the whole interview. I don't think you could sign a more Eddie Howe player than Anthony Elanga. All those relationships he has with the squad already, the desire for self improvement. The humbleness to say that he can improve absolutely every aspect of his game. Big clubs sign the best players from teams below them in the Premier League. After Anthony Gordon, we've now brought this lad in. We're Newcastle United, and we're a fucking big club, no doubt about it.
