    World XI

Got me thinking. Brad Friedel retired from the US squad after the 2002 World Cup-- a decade ago. I'd still take him ahead of Howard.
  2. Norwich, thanks sure it's not marvin martin (sochaux) ? No. Well, he's French so maybe that makes more sense.
  3. I think Pardew watched an Ajax game or something or other.
  4. Right, and Sabermetrics goes back to the 1980s and Bill James' Baseball Abtracts. These are not new ideas. Very useful in baseball, not so useful in the football.
  5. Third goal vs. WBA for me.
  6. I agree. Spurs showed today how well they "bounce back" from adversity.
  7. Don't understand. Ever-reliable Clive pointed out that it was something that wasn't going to damage Parker, didn't catch anymore as I was attempting to tune him out as much as possible. Was he defending it being a yellow? Surely if it was seen by the referee to deserve a card, it has to be a red considering it was a needless kick out? So he got a yellow for the kick? And there's no chance of a review? Sorry, I too had completely zoned out by that point.
  8. MKSC, Opening post is out-of-date. 5th Europa League Third (Final) Qualifying Round (currently Chelsea) 5th Europa League Third (Final) Qualifying Round (currently Newcastle United)
  9. Thought it was pretty simple. Looked great at the time because it was so far beyond what we were accustomed to seeing from Obertan.
  10. Hmmm. Recall Liverpool fans claiming they dodged a bullet.
  11. Poor on so many levels. "and his [ba's] partnership with Papiss Cisse relies on a simple understanding and natural gelling" "it's difficult to describe exactly what Ben Arfa actually brings to the team" "Both men [Redknapp and Pardew] defy the cold, analytical ideal of the modern manager, relying on team spirit and good players playing their natural game in their natural positions - two simple ideas that have fueled Newcastle's rise ever since their relegation"
  12. Ivanovic appeals three-match ban. Could be good for us.
  13. Wow, one post and he's gone. VegasToon, would've thought you were in Tucson or Las Vegas. I'm in Santa Cruz.
  14. Only game this season that Manchester United failed to score.
  15. I think we'll get 5th. Looking at Chelsea's schedule, the clusterfuck of games they have between now and our game with them... I think we'll win at Stamford Bridge. I doubt we can better Spurs' results between now and the end of the season. Sure, they've had a bad run, but they've had a beast of a schedule since their victory over us. They should walk it. (But the loss to Norwich does make me hopeful.)
