I AM NOT DEFENDING SOUNESS. But those talking about the "quality side" we had before his arrival are forgetting that Woodgate had already been sold. Without Woodgate in the lineup we were a mediocre side. When he wasn't injured we were Champions League calibre. Our backline: Hughes, Bramble, O'Brien, Bernard. Shit. Boumsong was actually an improvement. An expensive and crappy upgrade, but an improvement none-the-less. Souness: poor management, poor purchases. Hands down the worst. Losing Woodgate and Speed were just as bad-- if not worse-- than losing Bellamy.

I think that Barton will be a good signing under Keegan. In retrospect, may be not the best move for Allardyce. Allardyce signed Enrique as well. Another good one. The only one that looks really poor imo is Smith. But who knows, there's always hope.

The difference being a good manager came in after Allardyce who got the best out of those players, Souness was followed by Glenn Roeder who didn't get the best out of anyone. Who's to say how the likes of Parker, Solano, Luque etc would have done for us under Keegan's management? That team finished 7th under Roeder. He was an improvement over Souness.

Take the money. It's a business. They won't get a replacement that is as good, but they don't need to. Besides, what if he gets a knock. They could get three terrific "replacements" and pocket money.

Are non-alcoholic sections common in Britain? I don't know about the rest of the states, but here in the Bay Area they started that back in the 1980s-- calling it the "family section". A lot of parents were hesitant to take their kids for fear they'd be seated next to roaring drunks.

Disagree with that like, Milner is ace! I'd start both somehow. Not sure how though, thats why I'm not manager I suppose Other than Stoke City (home), cite a single game that Newcastle won this year with Milner on the right.

Sorry about my ignorance, but what do you mean by Muslim? Seems to be plenty of Muslim fans who have no problem attending matches throughout Africa and Asia. Why would they need special incentive to attend matches in England? If the Muslims referred to are from Pakistan/India, why are they being specifically targeted? Do South Asians with Hindu or Sikh backgrounds attend the games?

Its been two awful seasons. But doing the double over Spurs two years running... that I've enjoyed.
