Managed two seasons of football (one in the French league, one in the Italian first division) and resigned both times after disagreements with the clubs. Hope he gets on with Mort.

I'm dubious about the source, and concerned at his managerial record. Mixed feelings really.

I'm guessing these quotes and story stem from the same interview where the French Federation state Houllier isn't going anywhere. Would be interesting to see the full interview.

Who would you prefer? Houllier or Deschamps? Pretty close for me, I'd even say Deschamps could be good with things still to prove and a increased will to impress. Would take either of these ahead of Hughes/Redknapp/Keegan/Shearer

What about Hyypia, Riise, Henchoz, Hamann, Finnan? Dudek? Babbel, Baros, McAllister were fantastic in that team btw. He's got Dudek in that list, as well as Smicer, two players who won a European Cup Final. Heskey was also good for Liverpool in his time there. Some other players arent too shabby either.

So did Dogleash, Souness and Robson. Yeah, I'm not saying it guarentee's success, it doesnt. But, I'd much rather have a previously successful manager put in place.

The guy has a record of winning things, if he can win ONE fuckin decent trophy here, he'd forever be a legend.

If he's a genuinely interested contender I guess he's changed his mind about the bold comment. Or now 4 years later he feels ready for a challenge?

When was Houllier seen with Mort? some ITK on here said a member of their family knew of them meeting at manchester airport. Must be true then No-one would create a phantom sighting to sound credible would they.... It was me. As i explain in the Houllier thread, I'm not saying he's our next manager, but we are at least talking to him.

Aye he's shite, but Owen, Viduka and Shola have also done fuck all. It would be nice however to have Owen n Viduka start, and put loads of chances on a plate for them all night, try and get them some goals and confidence, but that will depend on who is in MF i guess.

The fact Blackburn are continuing to say they haven't been approached for Hughes, while Redknapp has and Houllier has been seen with Mort suggests he aint a favourite. Also seems the Keegan hasnt been approached yet.

The thing is, the media claims could well be bullshit. And I might be wrong but where has Redknapp been quoted as saying he was offered it? I know he said he wouldnt take over, but that could be like the media all speculating Shearer is gonna take over at Man Utd, and Al comes out and says "sorry, great job, but I'm happy living in Newcastle and working with BBC" even though he hasnt actually been offered it.

Our chances of appointing someone good have dropped significantly, the fact the media claim and Redknapp himself claims he was offered the job means that any other manager looking at the job realizes they're the second choice, do you think someone with Mourinho's caliber would want a job in which: 1.Harry Redknapp rejected 2.He was Ashley's second choice If those two points are true of course. It's irrelevant, whether it's true or not it's something the candidate will be thinking about. So Mourinho would only accept the nufc job if he was the ONLY person in the world considered for it? I know he's a bit big headed, but come on.

I think it's just a metaphor in this case. There isn't an actual CV. yeah I know. Just saying if they were considering him, surely he'd become first choice. I can imagine a full Jose CV though. "1984 - worked part-time at "[insert Portuguese shop name here]", the Portuguese version of Woolworths..." We won't be considering him and if we've considered him after been rejected by Redknapp I'll be baffled by Mort and Ashley's decisions. Everything is pointing to the fact that we didn't offer Redknapp the job, but that we approached him for talks, as we did with other candidates. I agree, theres been nothing said that we offered Redknapp the job, Mort said we've been talking to several candidates, and that seems true too. Redknapp was the first to say no, plus all the speculation, meant Mort had to come out and say the truth, that we were talking to people.

But won nothing - Intertoto? I would rather have Houllier's record, regardless of the playing styles.
