Couple of decent bits of defending by Sol
-
nearly fucked it up there though.

Agreed - Speed was so underrated when he was playing for us, it was unbelievable. No way could his passing be regarded as atrocious. Didn't say i didn't rate him, in fact I rated him highly (just not his short passing game), you could tell how could he was when he left and we made a pigs ear of replacing him.

Wilshire is playing every week at the moment with Cesc though. I think Arsene is fast tracking Wilshere this season because he knows Cesc won't be there this time next year otherwise I don't think he'd be getting as much game time. As good as Wilshere and Ramsey are. You'd be lost without Cesc. Very much this. Ramsay could well be shite when he comes back anyway.

Maybe not atrocious but it certainly wasn't a strong point of his.

Unrelated but does La Liga have such a fantasy league?
-
TBF to the lad, he has played and scored in the Champions Lge, has 25 caps for his country, played at the World Cup and in a European final. He's not done that bad.

Robson bought him as a replacement for Gary Speed. Those were SBR's words. You couldn't get more different. Zut Alors! In a lose way I can see the logic, employ him as a deep lying playmaker/water carrier (Speeds short passing game was atrocious) but with the lack of physicality he brought he was never going to be able to play a central role in a two man midfield where the other member was also weak as piss (JJ/Dyer)
-
Agree with that. Unless he was planning to play 4-5-1 away or something?

Man City game on TV tonight?

Aye. I have nothing against him, a decent player who was never going to be suited to playing in English football. Plus he scored in that game v Feyenoord. One game ruined his career at NUFC. Apart from that game I never had a problem with the guy. One of the best players i've seen at Newcastle for long-range passing. No it didn't. He wasn't up to coping with the pace/physicality of the English game, added to the fact he didn't have a regular starting positon, either wide left or central. In retrospect he probably wishes he stayed at Sporting for another year or two before moving to the big leagues.

Will be even more if they don't come up before their parachute payments run out.

Fifa site - http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/ranking/lastranking/gender=m/fullranking.html Few of my favourites: Korea are ranked lower than Cyprus & Gabon amongst others. Norway above Paraguay Greece 12th We'd beat Paragay. Not that the FIFA rankings aren't a joke, mind. Larrissa Riquelme says no. Maybe beat em if you played in Tromso. Nee chance anywhere else.
-
Bet he was still a dirty cunt.
-
Nah, we only ever get beat 3-0 at the Emirates.
-
Couldn't decide between him or Shearer.

its not so much as he being good as (for me anyway) unable to think of a decent alternative to him at rb Only alternatives I can think of would be Denis Irwin (although he played predominately at LB, he was right footed), Lee Dixon or Lauren (who I never rated too highly). Gary Neville was underrated though.

The only thing i can think of would be some of the straight reds would be downgraded to a yellow. Can't think of any actual examples though, maybe Cahill at the weekend.
