My opinion on this is that they need someone in this season due to the Lascelles and Botman injuries, long term we also need a Schar replacement. By buying Guehi we are doing both and not taking up a squad place with someone who may be surplus to requirements in 1 or 2 seasons time

A club that tries. A player putting in the effort is the minimum we should expect. He's been an amazing servant to the club but as far as our first 11 goes he is clearly the weak link and needs to be the priority to move on. I agree he shouldnt be pilloried by his own fans but I see more people on here complaining about the hate for him than negative posts about him.

Our squad may be much the same as the start of last season, but... - we dont have the additional pressures of European football this season - I'm still convinced we will bring in 1 or two players who will improve both first teams and squad before the end of the window

It's all semantics really. To me a flair player is someone who will pull out tricks and wild skills. A creative player is one who thinks differently and will play a pass or make a run that others wouldn't attempt - but perhaps thY is vision? Football manager has a lot to answer for!
