Whilst being surrounded by plastic Spurs and Liverpool support? No thanks. Here's a link to Setanta Canada's Schedule: http://130.94.23.190/SSCDN_live_schedule.htm They've got all our matches on until the end of November. This is better than what was on offer. Howay Setanta! You won't find many plastic fans in the Gloucestor, the others, definitely. But what to do, nothing beats a pint and footie. The Setanta Canada schedule -- how on earth do I get Setanta here? Can I order it through Rogers? How much? (Apologies if it's been mentioned here before) NM. Seems like this is only Broadband. Sucks. It's like Homer says at the beginning of the Simpsons' film: why pay for something you can get for free?

Come on lads, get down to the Duke of Gloucestors, Scallywagses and Walker's Brews of this city, and support your team. As I'm fuckin' stuck at work.

Yeah, I agree totally that it can be, and in some cases WILL be, used unprofessionally. But having a witness is pretty much all a person can do to being called so-and-so. I remember Mihaljovic calling Viera a 'black monkey,' Vieri branding Lua Lua a black something (in that case, Aaron Hughes backed Lua up) and the whole Aragones issue. The thing is, racism is a societal problem that seeps into football, not the other way around. If nothing is done when instances like these keep happening -- and let's face it, they're gonna continue -- then it's seen as nothing but condonation. The sad thing is, no player then will ever get any sort of justice or respite from being called a racial slur from one of his opponents, and we might as well look at it as 'part of the game.' When in real life, on any given Sunday League football pitch, you call someone a nigger and you'll have the opposing eleven on your arse and will be hospitalised for months. So if we don't condone it in life, why so on a pitch? With the stadia, again, it comes down to the men in power, and FIFA have lacked testicles on this issue just as they have on a million other issues in the past, so we should just bypass them and the FA, La Liga, Seria A and other leagues should make their own rules.

Regarding the Emre thing, I have no doubt that he said something out of order, for Yobo and Howard to pursue their case so strongly there had to have been something substantial there. However, once again the Premier League went soft on it, and the way they handled the case was laughable. The way it needs to be done is: player X calls player Y a nigger / chink / paki / martian... player Y and player Z both hear it, and complain. Instant fine / ban on X. THAT would be taking a hard line for on-pitch racism, as there is no way to prove these things, except hearsay.

Spot on. It's all in FIFA's hands anyways, and the individual clubs and leagues. Living in North America, which has had such an illustrious history with racism, such shit would never ever be stood for in North American sporting arenas, or any public venues. Certain parts of Europe seem to still be living in the dark ages.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=451142&cc=5901 Rangers match-winner DaMarcus Beasley insists UEFA and FIFA must take a hard line stance against racism after he was targeted by FK Zeta fans making monkey noises during last night's Champions League tie. The UEFA match delegate included the actions of the home supporters in his report and the end of Zeta's European campaign could be followed by heavy punishment. American Beasley had experienced similar in the past, and he fears the message that racism is unacceptable is just not getting through to supporters in some countries. Beasley hit the late winner as Rangers prevailed 1-0 on the night and 3-0 on aggregate. Afterwards, the former PSV Eindhoven winger promised to discuss with Rangers whether the club should make an official complaint. He said: 'That's something FIFA and UEFA must fight with, and solve. 'This is the 21st century, and we are still having trouble with it. 'That's not normal, not just for us, black players, that's not normal for all other normal people. 'I've faced that kind of situation throughout my whole career in Europe, not so much during my playing days in England, but even in Holland I've had similar problems. 'There, at PSV, the club's management held meetings with me, trying to solve that together, but, things happened, especially at some European matches.' He added: 'It sickens me to hear these chants but when you are on the pitch you have to try to blank it out. It degrades the game for everyone. 'I will discuss the situation with Rangers because I feel strongly about it and we will decide if we should file a complaint.' Beasley fears the worst might still be to come, with Red Star Belgrade potential opponents in the final round of qualifying for the tournament proper. The Serbian side lead Levadia Tallinn 1-0 after the first leg and face a tricky test in Estonia tonight. Beasley recalled a Champions League qualifier he played for PSV against Red Star in August 2004, when he also came in for abuse. He said: 'I remember playing against Red Star Belgrade, and I mention them as they could be our next opponents in the Champions League, and I still remember some racist chants at that away match. 'As a club (PSV), we did our best to point our finger at that problem, we warned UEFA on that, but I can't remember if there was any serious reaction after it. 'Maybe I'm wrong, but despite that, I'm sure that UEFA, and FIFA, are doing their best, too, to kick racism out of football, as it is necessary for us all to play in healthy sport.' UEFA will also consider incidents in which bottles were thrown from a stand containing home supporters when Zeta were denied a penalty in the second half, and when substitute Charlie Adam was struck by a lighter. There were no reported incidents of Rangers supporters misbehaving during the match. They had been warned that any incidents of sectarian chanting could result in strong-handed UEFA action against the club. Rangers boss Walter Smith admitted he had not heard the abuse, having been absorbed in the game. He said on the club's website: 'If it did happen I wasn't aware of it but the players coped well with the atmosphere.' ------------- Thoughts, opinions, solutions?

Dyer can play RB.

Actually, Calimag's right. www.soccertv.com is the most comprehensive site for listings of each and every footie game being broadcast in NA. I've been using it for over 6yrs now. For Canuck viewers, go to the site and scroll all the way down, then click on Canadian TV Networks, and voila. And, by the way, FUCK SETANTA. Fuckin' motherfuckers, gone is the routine of waking up Saturday mornings and tuning into Sportsnet for the triple-header, with Craig Forrest and pals. For FREE. Now I have to wait till they get their Canadian license, and then subscribe to their channel for $15 per month, or else fuckin' pay for Setanta PPV? I've always despised Setanta. Yankee's right, horrible coverage, I've seen whole games without commentary and with deftly edited blackouts. However, I'll just frequent my regular drinking holes than pay for Setanta. A lot of pubs have had Setanta USA in the T. Dot. for years. Check out this article for all Canadian residents: http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/241929 --------------------- Soccer fans get kicked in wallet While the English Premier League television picture is still fuzzy, one thing is now clear: Fans are going to have to pay more to watch their favourite soccer teams. Setanta Sports, which owns Canadian rights to English soccer, confirmed yesterday that all but one game a week will be available exclusively on either its premium digital channel or its monthly pay-per-view package. Cost will be around $15 a month, not including rental or purchase of a digital box. Setanta has the rights to three Saturday games, the early Sunday game, the Monday afternoon match and all weekday contests. The other game, Sundays at 11 a.m., will be on The Score. The FAN 590 will also air a Saturday morning match. "We'll have all the games starting Aug. 11 and there will be more available than ever," said Shane O'Rourke, president of Setanta's North American operations. "We just don't know which platforms yet." Setanta had applied for a digital licence to air international sports and expected to be on Rogers and Bell ExpressVu before the Aug.11 start of the EPL season. But that apparently won't happen, though Setanta is confident it will by the end of the month. If the channel isn't running by Aug.11, the games will be available on a pay-per-view package. This will come as a shock to EPL fans, who last year had their choice of games on Rogers Sportsnet, The Score and Fox Sports World Canada.

His goal / performance against Soton in the FA Cup. His goal against Everton. His performace at Elland Road. Quite frankly, I'm struggling to recall any other (better) moments. Everything that needs to be said about Dyer has been said already, and he has been correctly identified as the embodiment of the travails that have haunted this club. So, too bad it wasn't to be, mate. (Major) Part your fault, the other... well, we're Newcastle United.
-
They stopped using this a while ago anyways, unofficially. It's never used as frequently as it once was when it was first coined.

Some could argue this is Brazil's weaker team, as well. Fuck. Why, oh why, do we always underestimate Brazil? Come on you Argies (never thought I'd ever say that, but what a team).
-
Or go to the game. Or, if you live too far away, support the team of where you actually come from, or (if you are exiled) watch it on the web/get a Johnny F dish. I don't come from Newcastle. Am I a plastic fan, Northen Monkey? I so wish to know. And I do support Toronto FC, local team. And KCC in Kampala, Uganda, which was my former locale; and Mohan Bagan of India; and had a soft spot for Crystal Palace when I lived in South London. All those were my former locales. Please tell me which team(s) I should support, as you're obviously the authority on my heart. Also, for others, how do these rulings affect North Americans? Setanta here's showing all pre-season friendlies, but I only know one fuckin' bar in T.O. that carries it.

I think people should be allowed to donate $1 if they wish to. I won't, but keeping minimums would only discourage users from ever giving more, or at all.
-
Nah, stick to the original idea. Donations should be anonymous and no privileges should be given to those who donate over those who don't. We don't want a fucking exclusive club, just a small number of people who care enough keep the whole thing going, and everyone is open to play their part. This is ours, yours and hopefully for a whole new generation of boys and girls. Those who can afford to and are willing to will just nudge the thing along whenever they wish.
-
This is fucking dumb. I don't know what the hold up is. Just create a 'Donate' button on the front page, and accept Paypal. Done. I'll fucking pay annually, or whenever you guys are in need. For those who voted 'No' on this poll, well... unless you're so poor that you can't afford three meals a day, you should fuck off and die. Would donating 1 quid hurt you? (Mods: I'll definitely be donating more than the aforementioned amount. Anything to keep this place alive and kicking and, more importantly, AD-FREE.)
-
Finally. Fuckin' hell. Hallelujah.
-
Of course it fucking matters how much we earned. If you don't think it does I suggest you get a look-in into what's gone on in European football for the past fuckin' ten years. Let's hope ManorPark's inquisitiveness brings us some answers. Partisan newspapers is the least of my worries.

Fuckin' shite.

http://odili.net/news/source/2007/jun/25/216.html Wenger ready to swoop on Obafemi Martins • Anelka, Owen also mentioned as possible Henry re-placements By Olawale Ajimotokan, 06.25.2007 Monday, June 25, 2007 Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins could now be the transfer target of Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger, who is seeking a replacement for Thierry Henry who at the weekend completed a £17 million switch to Barcelona. Martins’ career on the Tyneside has remained a subject of debate since he allegedly walked out on the team in the last match of last season at Watford. But reports from England last night claimed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could now launch a bold bid for either the Super Eagles striker or his team team mate Michael Owen to shore up the Gunners forward line in the wake of the exit of the inspiring Henry. Also being mentioned by the British media is Henry’s France international team mate Nicolas Anelka, who walked out of the London club seven years ago after spending only one season at Highbury. Though Martins, who last week was at the centre of a gun attack in Lagos which the Police claimed was bogus, has vowed his allegiance to Newcastle, the source of concern at the club, however, is that the petit striker could invoke a get out clause in his contract to seek a move away from St James Park. It was revealed last Friday that, Martins who earns £60,000 (about N15 million) per week as the highest paid Nigerian player in the Premier League could be allowed to leave if a club offers £13million for his services. Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce has already resigned to fate that there is nothing he could do if Martins decides to evoke the get away clause in his contract this summer. Owen who cost Newcastle £17 million about two years ago on the other hand could be allowed to go for £9 million. Martins was the club’s leading marksman with 17 goals in only his first season at the club. The Magpies paid £10 million to Inter Milan two years ago as transfer fees for the player who is on a five-year contract. But the club will face a real battle to keep him during the current transfer window especially as Wenger has vowed to seek his availability if Henry left the club. He is also speculated to be attracting interest from Chelsea, Juventus and Valencia. Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Newcastle attempted to write out the £13 million buyout clause in Obafemi Martins' contract. The Evening Chronicle says when Martins sacked his Italian agent halfway through last season and moved to Jonathan Barnett's Stellar group, United tried to rescind the buy-out clause. That's because at the time the Nigerian international was scoring fantastic goals for United and was worth a lot more than the £10m Glenn Roeder paid to Inter Milan for him 12 months ago. But the only way United could have changed Martins' buy-out clause was to tear up his £60,000-a-week five-year contract and give him a new one, but this did not happen.
