    Obafemi Martins

It does to an extent though doesn't it. If he was playing without pressure in a decent team, he would obviously have more goals. Equally, if he was a better player and a better finisher he'd have far more goals.
  2. Nice to see ZiZou's still the world record transfer though. Much better player than Kaka ever will be.
  3. Shearer at £1.75m would more than pay for itself. I'd say a minimum of 5k on the season's average gate, at a conservative £20 per ticket that works out at £100k per game, and £2.3m over a season. You're in profit before you start.

11 goals a season is average at best for a £10m striker on £70kpw. The fact that no-one else at the club is up to much either doesn't really change that fact.
  5. Have we ever lost a competitive game that was shown live on 5? I actually think that we may of won them all, 5 used to do the early rounds of the Uefa Cup so I struggle to remember a game that we may of lost or even drawn. Drew against Frankfurt and either Ventspils or Tallinn at home at least, but I always quite liked 5's coverage. Knowingly amateur, didn't take itself too seriously and pretty funny.

I reckon it'd be tough though - he's one of our most sellable assets, meaning we'd probably get £7m+ for him and £70kpw off the wagebill. Given that we'll struggle to get rid of the likes of Butt, Duff, Smith, Barton etc (all on high money) it won't be the case of trying to accomodate one high earner - which could be possibly justifiable. I get the impression that Loven could be sticking on to be our first choice 'pacy' striker next season - he won't cost anything and will be on lowish wages. I don't think he's as good as Martins and won't create as many chances by himself but he's got a better footballing brain and seems more composed. If the situation is keeping Martins on £70kpw or letting him go for £7m and 'replacing' him with McLovin up top for £20kpw I know which one would be preferable for the health of the football club.

Why on earth would that be the case?
  8. You think we should keep him then? unless we're offered £8m plus, absolutely. He's still an big asset and well though of on the continent I'd be staggered if we get offered anywhere close to £8m, regardless of his reputation. He's on megabucks too (something about this being a lifechanging financial opportunity iirc) so he needs shifting.
  9. Some of the people who have seen him play alot are really rating him, im a sceptic, but haven't seen enough to judge! Basing this purely on statistics, i hope we get this guy to replace Adebayor and this isnt the agent stiring interest in his player. I would love to get these and Yaya Toure, unlikely imo, but i think the squad would be drastically improved with these signings! Surely there's no way a guaranteed starter for the best team in the world would go to Arsenal?
  10. Lorik Cana is their only good player. Daft statement. Bogdani has played in Serie A with varying degrees of success. Denmark beats Sweden 1-0 thanks to Tommy Kahlenberg. Sweden had 16-3 when it came to shots on target, most unworthy win I've ever seen. Källströms penalty was horrible and then Ibra and Larsson missing sitters. Looks like we're going to miss out on a big tournament for the first time since 1998. Christian Poulsen was fantastic though... I'll be going to Copenhagen for the reverse fixture in October. Quelle surprise
  11. You spend just about every day arguing with anyone who thinks almost anything though.
  12. I think he's a cock smoker myself. So do I, he's an egotistical c*** who talks s**** to the media all the time, the daft t***. "Cock smoker" LOL "Egotistical C*** who talks s**** to the media" Which chairman doesn't ? You have to hand it to him - with Wigwam's attendances, like Wimbledon, totally dependent on visiting fans, and also like Wombles, they are a Div2 in the Prem, to be honest. Yet they stay there comfortably while we are in the Chumpionship. Says it all. He's done well with little while our chairmen have created a horror show from a LOT do you mean MK Dons? Wimbeldon are in the Blue Square Prem. He's talking about how the old Wimbledon survived in the Prem I think. They were a tiny team but survived in the Premiership for ages, despite very low attendances, like Wigan. MK Dons are a totally different prospect, they're a franchise supported by a bunch of plastic fans but could probably survive in the Prem due to their large catchment area. I have no doubt that they will be a Premiership team in 5 years. However, if you were just being pedantic and saying MK Dons are the continuation of Wimbledon, technically yeah, but they are an entirely new club really. Must've had a superb manager keeping them there for so long.

    Plastic Geordies

You're from London, aren't you? I assume you have a southern accent too, so that automatically makes you 'plastic' apparently. Shame that the same logic that the mackems apply has been posted on here. That will have been the connection made. It was quite a funny scenario actually, I had no intention of fighting, but the conclusion was a 50 year old fat and bald mackem literally running away down the road.
  14. Just went on their SSN page, and it says - Capacity: 20300. Quite a nice ground. Seen the varsity footy there before.
  15. Not very good at ball retention though, and a dubious tackler at best. Would have to have someone sitting behind him to be of any worth imo.
  16. I think most people would rather anyone than Ryan Taylor tbh.
  17. Brave appointment. Whelan has definitely been known to smoke a cock in his time mind.
  18. You'd be better off talking about genuinely loyal footballers and managers, it would be a much shorter list.
  19. Theres a Sheffield club thats older, I believe. Still going too. Not Wednesday or United either. Did anyone see that bloke with the c.u.n.t around his head by the way ? you watched Sex With Strangers too? No, I prefer to do it myself actually. But not with a Notts County seating arrangement around my head, I'll admit.... Always knew you were a wanker

    Plastic Geordies

I almost got into a fight with a 50+ year old mackem after being called a plastic mag on my way home from the Villa game.
  21. Yous can have Coloccini for £6m if you fancy it.
  22. I hope you didn't give Given any stick then. He's not leaving a relegation threatened club mid-season having been arguably their best player all year though, so it isn't a similar situation really.
  23. Haven't explained it very well. Yes, brilliant signing, make no mistake. However everyone was amazed at how much he cost. I'm sure you could have got him for cheaper, regardless of whether or not he's proved to be worth it. That extra (say) £2m you could have saved could have left you with a bigger squad. Actually, I barely understand what I'm talking about. I'm sure it made more sense when I first thought of it half an hour ago.
